How to become a California real estate agent

To become a Real Estate agent in California like anywhere else in the United States you first need to sit a Real estate licensing exam.

Before you can sit the exam you have to study for it,in California you can either study at home via the Internet,or at a community college.

Study via the Internet can be done at your leisure and if you put in the hours you could be ready for the exam in 3 weeks but you can work at your own pace and take as long as you want.

At a community college you will study 3 hours a week for 8 weeks.

Once you pass the exam, you must pay a license fee and find a broker willing to sponsor you.there is also the initial $300 to get your hours and take the test.

Then, each state has a fee for a license, and you'll pay dues (to national and state real estate associations) and MLS (multiple listing service) fees. It'll be about $1,000 out of pocket and four months until you see anything that looks like an offer. You'll spend money every one of those months to promote yourself and create credibility.

According to the National Association of Realtors' 2003 profile of its members, the typical real estate sales agent earned $39,300.
