You could have sworn you noticed a twinkle in his eye when he looked your way. The moment your eyes connected; you felt your heart skip a beat. His smile made your stomach do multiple flips. Yet if you are anything like my best friend, the guy could be wearing a blinking neon sign that he is available and you could still miss it. Some signs of attraction, only your heart can decipher. For the most part, your brain can put serious doubts in your mind about whether or not to ask the guy out. At times, the game of rejection is very hard to play. Heck, its hard to even find the guts to make the first move. The stakes can be incredibly high when you focus all your passionate energies on your crush and you place your heart on the line. Is this why so many of us prefer to stay in relationships that we have outgrown? I think it is easier to stay with what you have grown used to in comparison to the unknown. Just think how comfy your pair of old worn in slippers compared to those patent high heels. You get my point then. Then again, what if that guy your heart has placed a bid on is exactly what destiny has lined up for you? You will never know if you don't try.
The first step is to monitor what you are feeling when you get a chance to converse with him or when you lock eyes. Those long eye gazes hold a lot of information if you know what you are looking for. Its not a feeling that can be written about. Its more of a feeling that you get that you can't quite explain and get easily flustered if you try. All it usually takes to figure out if he likes you, is to pay close attention to what you are feeling inside. Are you nervous, nauseas, uncertain of how to act around him? Well, there is a good chance that he is feeling the same way around you too. Love and even lust, does a funny thing to humans. We suddenly lose our brilliant, confident selves and easily become shy, dizzy, and clumsy. Basically, we show our crush the side we are so desperately trying to hide.
Yet, that is the best part of having a crush to begin with. Its in finding pleasure along the whole journey to a relationship. Enjoy everything you are feeling at this very moment. The uncertainty, the anxiety, and the feeling that you can't live life without him. Appreciate the fact that destiny placed another human being in your path so that you could get to know. Maybe if its in your cards, perhaps the right person for you to form a loving relationship with. Although, you will never know if you don't try. Just remember, if you savor every moment of this game, the sweeter the ending will be...

I would say that if he is your best friend-treasure whatever you have with him. Appreciate the moments you get to hang out and laugh together. He won't always be there. I lost a great friend of mine unexpectedly. If it is meant to happen between you and him, then it will. Maybe fate is saving a time and place for the two of you-you can never tell when you are sooo close to the situation. For now, just enjoy him and everything that he brings into your life. Just enjoy the ride with him to wherever you are destined to be...either in friendship or a serious relationship..and just think out of all the girls out there..he chooses you to spend time with! Lucky you!!

What if u are with him all the time , he gives advice to me about my children and also to my children tells them to treat me with respect, teaches them how to do things in his shop. Some times when I go out there a little while after he gets here ( the shop is on my property) he says what took you so long? he asks us where we are going when we go out . I make him a plate of dinner every night. we bring it out to him. we made plans to go to a movie but never did now we are but he has invited my brother and a freind to .I don't get any of this ... In my opinion, the fact that he is trying to help you with your children and is trying to teach them important lessons in life makes this relationship worth pursuing. Not only that, it seems like the two of you are really comfortable with each other since you spend soo much time together. He must enjoy your company if he wonders what you are doing on a daily basis. The group date that he planned is interesting. He may want to know what it may be like to actually be on a date with you. The friend and your brother that he wants to bring may in a sense-provide the safety nets while he explores this possibility. He wouldn't be around you soo much or be soo involved in your life if he didn't care for you. Life is short-if it were me, I would make the first move. Chaos-I think your heart will tell you when you can stop crushing on whoever you like at the moment. From what I heard, its really hard to stop a crush because of the feelings involved. Its like saying, I am going to stop liking the color blue. I think maybe if you associated bad memories with that person, that might help. Yet that may not work, because a part of you will still crush on him. If anything, have fun while you are in that phase.
hey, ok I like this guy ALOT but i never talked to him before, I have talked to his friends and people who know him say he's a funny and nice guy . We always see each other in the halls and we always lock eyes , and my friends say that when ever I'm near him he awlays stares at me . I liked this guy at work and he liked me, I could tell. He didn't ask me out alone but he asked me to go out with some people after work. The problem is, he got drunk and pretty much ignored me! ConfusedGAL, hey, my opinion is that i think he likes you. You don't call someone "beautiful" or "sexy" etc if you don't mean it. And you say that he would like to talk to you and that you have plans for the summer etc. It all sounds to me that he does.
But and its a big but, he has a girlfriend. I mean if you were looking to take this further it wouldn't be so fair on her to do this and it wouldn't be fair on you if he was to not break up with her.

Brandi, i would just advise you to ask. It is possible that his friends have told him and that he feels awkward around you now but theres no way to be 100% unless you ask him what the what is.

Now if he stares at you for a long time and you stare back without blinking for as long as you can hold it until one of you smiles of laughs what does this mean? Is it flirting in a friendly way or romantic way? Or does he really want to look at you that much? Also just about everytime your in his presence he listens or focuses his attention on you, is he just being a gent? I do understand that I have lots of questions on this matter and can only get the answers from him, but i have never really had a lot of guys like me and if they are not a player it is really hard to try and figure out. hello all. i need your help! okay, i have a crush on my boss. i think he likes me too. we've been flirting with each other through email since december. he's a very nice guy, so he treats everyone very nicely with smiles all the time, so when he smiles at me i just couldn't tell whether he's just being nice or he actually likes me. he's always with this older female co-worker. they have lunch together everyday and they leave work together to go to the gym. so one time i sort of teased him if he was waiting for his girlfriend. he didn't get my joke and he must have thought i was "scoping" to see if he has a girlfriend. eversince then, i started to notice him staring at me in meetings and we sent more silly emails back and forth. then four weeks ago we went out for drinks afterwork with other co-workers and when he drove me home, i gave him a hug and he said to me, bye sweetie, we have to hang out more often, just you and me. the following friday we hung out together with one of his friends whom i know as well. this time we're a lot closer. he would have his arm around my waist and some appropriate touching. his friend kept asking me questions such as, if i like spanish guys, my boss is spanish. the following friday the three of us hung out again. he would sit next to me and have his arm around me. his friend even asked what was going on and whether we're friends. at the end of the night when just the two of us were standing outside, i had my arms around him and his around my waist. at that moment, i really felt that he likes me. yesterday, we went out again, just the two of us this time. i told him i wanted to go somewhere but was too scared to go alone, so he offered to go with me. i don't think it was a date, but we're not as close, maybe because we didn't have as many drinks but it just wasn't the same. he drove me home early and we didn't even hug each other or anything. i'm very confused now. perhaps he realized that he's not that into me afterall? one other thing is, he doesn't even have my number and he never asked for it. we've only been communicating through email at work. the times when we're alone he would say something about his ex-girlfriends. why would he do that? after yesterday, i felt so upset because of the fact that nothing happened, so i found his number through a work related email, and texted him something silly. i'm not sure if he knew it was me, but i did say things only he and i knew about. he hasn't even texted me back. i'm really worried now, and i regret having texted him. is he freaking out about how i got his number? could someone please give me some insight?! it sounds like he does like you. also if he blushes when you talk to him or when he is looking at you and he blushes when he looks away then that's another sign. You should talk to his freinds to find out for sure though.

Personally I don't think that you should get into a serious relationship at that young of an age with someone as old as he is. Mabey wait a few months and see if you both feel the same way. Take things slow.

1. The guy stares at you when ever he sees you 2. he askes you for your phone number or email 3. he askes you if you have a boyfriend 4. he passes you notes or texts you 5. he always bugs you 6. when people are being mean to you he sticks up for you
and if all you don't see any of these signs (not all boys show any signs) that doesn't mean the the guy doesn't like you. You just have to ask.

Another thing if they say that they don't recieve blocker calls or calls and that they don't know what the hell does that mean! Also I used to write him so many letters telling him to respond but he never did. And I tried paying him five dollars for a hug i know it's stupid but i was desperate okay. I am new to this portal, but while reading through all the comments, I got inspired to write you my question as I am very Very confused. I like the fact that everyone here tries to help each other, so I am hoping for some honest comments. here it goes: I have a full time job but on the side I work for a staffing agency that sends servers to work with caterers. So the guy that I believe, likes me, works as a bartender for this country club that I go to through staffing agency. It's an occasional job, maybe three or four days every month for this country club. Before I continue, I want to say that I am an Indian from India (brought up in the US though) and this guy is a caucasian. Among other doubts, this is the biggest one, because sometimes I wonder if he is really interested in me, someone who is not a caucasian, or is it just my imagination or wishful thinking. Little bit about my background: I used to be obese and felt unattractive and never had a guy show interest in me or at least I never noticed or understood. But I have lost weight and try to dress properly and carry myself confidently and feel that I get along better with the opposite sex, in general. When I first started cocktailing in the country club, he would ignore me (in other words, take other cocktailers requests, but ignore me completely), so I just gave him an angry look and he got the message and he said sorry and never ignored my drinks requests. I have worked at this country club on and off for the past 8-9 months and my brother works there with me on the days that I work. I have alot to say, but I guess this may become too long. So i'll say this much: he is very friendly with my brother, he treats me with respect, when I am ordering drinks from him, he looks me straight in the eyes, at one point I noticed that he briefly looked towards my lips and back to my eyes again. From afar, I feel that he is looking at me , but when I am near him or around him I don't feel ignored, but I feel that I exists just like everyone else around him, he jokes around with me occasionally, in the past, he initiated conversations with me. When handing the drinks to me, the tips of his hands would touch mine, but I did not show any feelings. At one point he approached me and spoke softly about work related thing though. Sometimes, I had to miss working with him because of my full time job, and he asked my brother about me. He did not do this in the past but recently, everytime I am looking somewhere else, he would either gently touch me to get my attention to say Hello, or if my back is facing him, he would pat on my shoulder and say hello to me and my brother by saying hey guys...
I must admit that ever since I realized about my feelings towards him, I don't know how to behave around him, I am shy, can't look at him except when ordering drinks, speak less and I tend to show no feelings, although I have begun liking him, I just feel more comfortable with showing no feelings. Like a dork, I have been reading up on signs of attractions, and one of the signs is dilated pupils: One time I was able to look into his eyes and saw that his pupils were dilated to almost the size of his cornea. When he looks at me, he smiles at me and I see portion of his face turning red, I don't know whether that red is normal because his skin tone is white, or is that blushing. My heart says that he likes me, but my doubtful head is winning. I feel like an idiot, because once he moved into my "personal space", I didn't step back, but recently ( now that I know my feelings for him), I was standing by a table and he came there and stood near me to open up some wine bottles, I got nervous and took some steps back. Later that midnight, he was in the storage room downstairs getting some things and at the same time either listening to his messages on the phone or making a call, he saw me coming and he took what he needed and left, which made me feel bad that he left. And some people say that if the guy likes you, then he would help you with stuff, or do favors for you, he does none of that. This past weekend I was there, he was bartending with two other guys and a girl that are the country club staff: as I mentioned, in the past when he handed me the drinks, the tips of his fingers would touch mine, this time, when he handed me the beer and I put my hand on the glass, he moved his fingers out of the way of my hands, if you can picture it. I was crushed and am wondering why would he do that. But then again, later that same day is the day when I gathered enough courage to look at him when he was passing by, I smiled at him and he smiled back with turning a little red around the portions of his face as I mentioend before.
Sorry for making this too long, but to request your honest opinions< i thought to give you as much information as possible. I really don't know if he is just being friendly or if something is really there between us. He may be quitting by January of 2009 to go to Law school and I know that I'll miss him very much....but I guess it is easier said then done...that I should tell him about the feelings that I have developed for him,,,,,,,but I know that it may be very hard for me to do. I just wish if he would be obvious enough for me to know, or if he would tell me...

it sounds like he really likes you! when you stepped back he probably felt hurt and that is why he hasn't been so friendly with you. If you really want to tell him how you feel then try to send him a note or get his email and email him. When his face turns red it is because he is blushing. He probably thinks that because you stepped back then you don't like him. I hope that helps but if it doesn't then just ask more questions

well if he ask you to the movies without asking anyone else along and he hugs and pokes and bugs you all the time then he probably does like you. When he tells you that you are just friends then he is probably saying that he doesn't want a serious relationship or anything like that.

Also, I know unless I ask him, there is no sure fire way to know about his feelings for me, but I am wondering if there are casual ways of knowing his feelings towards me w/o having to become a laughing stock and not being able to work there anymore. For how i came to this conclusion, i have read alot of articles about this kind of thing and i have some experiance with it too. For things that a guy only does for a girl that he likes (unless he is a very good friend) he will touch your arm or you hair or something like that. Evertime he sees you after you have been apart he will tell you how he much he missed you. He will never do anything to hurt you mentally of physically. Well for casual ways to know how he feels try talking about another guy in front of him and see if his reaction is different. Maybe get your brother to casually ask him? And as how to people can like other people when they rarely ever see them, do you like him? You don't see him every day and you still like him!

I hope this helps. Is your best friend currently involved with someone. If not, try to find out where he stands when it comes to commitment. Maybe talk with him and tell him that all you would like for him to do is take a chance with you, go out on a date not as a friend, but as a romantic interest. Both of you just give each other a three months trial for relationship, who knows he might actually be open to this idea. If you really hit it off, Hurray! But if it doesn't go anywhere, I am sure you would be crushed, but talk it out and say that hopefully it won't hurt your friendship, and you won't be wondering what if... if he is a friend, he should oblige. Thank you so much for the suggestions! It really helped me to make my desicion. As to having the courage to be bold and telling your guy you just need to go with your heart. If it says to tell him then you should. Thats what i did anyways and it worked out!

ok...well i like this guy and we have been best friends for a while now. but i really cant tell if he likes me. he stares at me durring class and always listens to what i have to say. we talk almost every night on an instant messenger for hours at a time. he tells me everything. i really need help with this. i cant tell if he likes me or not. and even if he does i dont know if i would want to ruin our current relationship. i know exacly how you're feeling. I had the same problem with my best friend and it was exactly the same thing. What i did is i just told him how i felt about him. The addvice i would give to you is to follow your heart. Do what it tells you to. If it tells you to tell him then i think you should. You only live life once after all!
So im a freshman in college, and there is this extremely attractive guy in one of my classes, we never sit together but we have made eye contact more than once and everytime i see him i get so nervous i want to throw up, even when i have occationally seen him in the hall i look away becuase i seriously get uncontrolably nervous, ive never felt this way about a guy in a long time, and ive been with/dated tons of guys in the past. He is exaclty my type and I dont want to make a move becuase i beleive that that is the guys job if he is interested, but how do i know if he thnks i'm cute too and is interested in me? Hes always in class, but it just is a few eye contacts and then we go our seperate ways after, what should i do? without making the move! and how do i know if he is interested too???
hey there!!!! O k so I have a problem with this guy. This is a highschool crush if you want to know. So when I was in the 8th grade I was a finalist for this public speaking contest and the guy i like ended up winning. After the contest i thought we could become friends, the whole time afterschool on that day he kept smiling,looking at me, and he kept saying hi. Then afterwards I realized I really liked him!!!! So we kept talking that day and then all of a sudden the day afterward he just completely stopped talking to me! During that time he just kept staring at me!! Then one of his idiotic friends kept yelling in studyhall, when he was right there,that I "looooooooooooove" him. As soon as he heard that he kept like looking and smiling at me! Later on he messaged me saying things like,"your ugly,your stupid,your a jerk,and I truly despise you". Then all of 9th grade he kept looking at me, now in the 10th grade he is still staring at me. I said hi to him in the hallway today after such a long time and he said hi with an expressionless tone and face. I just need to know does he like me!? How do I resolve this problem!? HELP!!!!
okay so obviously he doesn't like you and you are being pathetic, i mean you should never allow any guy to say things like that to you, even if it is as a joke, he sounds immature and dumb to me, he's acting like it's elementary school, i think if he really liked you he would not patronize you. If i were you I would totally ignore him, and if he really is interested in you he will come after you, becuase when you ignore a guy it sets them off, and he'll wonder why, and want to find out, trust me playing hard to get and ignoring works like a charm. don't show any interest anymore.

well there really is no advice i can give you if you aren't going to make the move. For how to know if he likes you, u can't be really sure unless you talk to him or ask one of his friends, or get one of your friends to ask him for you.

I think that you should just forget about this guy. If he sent such mean things to you and never talks to you then he is not worth it. You know a guy likes you if he is kind to you and he talks to you and he does not say mean things. This guy obviously does not like you. Maybe you should confront him. ask him why he always stares at you and why he is mean to you. that would probably solve your problem.
thank you love helper, but thats one whole side of opinions i am getting. Many other people have told me that he is just confused about his feelings for me? If thats even possible. I mean those mean things he said to me were just outbursts after I said that I wanted to be friends with him , which i really do! Can you give me advice on how i should approach him. Because its pretty awkward between the both of us right now, and i dont want to make things worse.

I don't think that he would be confused about his feelings for you because, you either like someone or you don't. So let me just get something strait, you told him that you just wanted to be friends with him and then he got really mean? If that's tthe case it was still unacceptable for him to say all the mean things but if you did say that he probably took it as "I don't like you more then friendship". Some advice on how to aproach him, I think that your going to have to talk to him yourself. I'm sorry but that's really the only advice i can give because if you want to be friends with him or anything your going to have to talk to him sometime, so the sooner the better! Just ask him how hes been doing, or something harmless like that. I hope this helps!

you've given great advice so far. I actually said hi to him a couple of times and he smiled and greeted me back!!!! Isnt that great!?!!? I am so happy!!! now i just need to fill in the "gap". I have also gotten this other side of the story from a friend of mine who's opinion was: "I really think that he likes you and that when he sent those mean messages to you that was him but his friends may have had something to do with it. It seems to me that he really does like you but is ashamed of it because his friends probably think you are lower than then them on the social scale ot something like that". Now lovehelper do you think thats what this is? Honestly tell me if you think that he likes me!!!! I need to know!!!!

basically he sent those messages to me when i asked him why we stopped talking to each other and then i mentioned us being friends, and right afterward he started going ballistic!!!

I think that his friends would probably have had a lot to do with the mean messages. Yes he probably likes you but i can't tell for sure. That is totally awesome that hes talking to you again! His friends may not like you and that probably has a lot of influence on him. That may be why he wasn't talking to you and being so mean.

Now we arent what you could really call "talking" again. If we do talk its really only little things about this project that we are doing for our civic leadership class because we are in the same group. Sometimes I get the feeling that he really doesnt want to talk to me. Its like usually i am the one saying hi to him. I gets really annoying how i am the person that is trying to make the effort. I really do not know what to do anymore. I really want to be friends with him but he is just making things more difficult!!!!
seriously in a situation like this its pretty hard to tell if a guy likes you, what do you think?

Maybe what you need to do is just ask him if you can be friends. If he doesn't then i guess you know not to try anymore. From what you've said I really can't tell if he likes you or not, althought it sounds like he Might like you but i don't know for sure.
