  • Open Question: What is the best way to protect scars when they're exposed to sun?

I am Caucasian with a dark complexion and olive skin tone and I have bad scars on my upper arms that have raised and formed reddish and white keloids. Over the summer I tan well without burning or peeling but my scars become bright red with a white outline and stand out even more than normal. I have a few days in the sun now because I'm on vacation. I want to get a nice healthy tan but my scars are already brightening and standing out. I've been putting sunscreen and cocoa butter on during the day and after-sun lotion later and some oil I bought at a store that's supposed to repair scars and stretched skin (I put it on every night but can't say I've seen any improvement). Anything else I can do besides keeping them totally covered? - 12 hours ago

  • Open Question: Ear piercing keloid/lump went away?

So i have five piercings on my ears and some of them developed lumps when healing, i'm not sure if they were keloids? but they went away and i don't have them anymore but i was wondering if i could possibly heal weird with tattoos and get a tattoo keloid? - 23 hours ago

  • Open Question: question about a piercing??

my specific question is do you think a keloid scar would form on other piercings or only on cartilage ones? a few years ago i had my upper cartilage pierced, and unfortunately it formed a keloid scar and i had to remove the piercing and get the keloid removed. I really would like to get another piercing, possibly outer conch or maybe a lip piercing, but im worried that another keloid scar would form. I didn't have any scarring on my ear lobes at all, so I dont know if it was just a freak thing with my cartilage piercing. - 26 hours ago

  • Open Question: What is the difference between a keloid and scarring?

I got my industrial done over two months ago, and I've had what looks like normal scarring for a while, but I'm not sure. How can you tell if it's just scarring or a keloid? - 30 hours ago
