Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) is famous for removing blackheads. BHA is a deep exfoliate that clears out blackheads. Read the ingredients of all the skincare product labels. Make sure you are getting the correct percentage of BHA and pH balanced for your skin. BHA products should have about 2% BHA with a pH of 3 to work effectively.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) is a surface exfoliate. These chemical exfoliants can actually be more gentle than rough scrubs on acne prone skin. AHA can also work better on some people to get rid of blackheads than BHA. It all comes down to trial and error. Look for a 10% AHA skincare product with a pH of 2 or 3. A 10% AHA with a pH of 3 is more effective than a 10% AHA with a pH of 4.

After cleansing wait about 10 to 20 minutes before applying blackhead treatments. Washing your face will raise your natural pH balance, so you will want to wait until your face lowers its’ pH back to normal. You can also try layering an BHA product over a AHA product, but wait 10 to 20 minutes in between application, because you want the first product to fully absorb and not interfere with the second product’s pH balance. You can also try applying just the BHA at night and the AHA in the morning. Or even other every night. Experiment and see what works best to reduce pores and get rid of blackheads.

Blackheads and pores are a part of everybody’s life, but you can make your skin clear. Keep testing and give a new product time to work. Read reviews of products before buying. Yes, everybody skin is different, but finding people with the same skin type as you will help you to reduce pores and get rid of blackheads.
