Hip-Hop Sampling 101

Crate Diggin' for Funk.

Samples and Breakbeats are fragments of recorded music or drum 'breaks' extracted from old recordings for the use of making new beats /songs. They mostly come from old, but rare, funk, rock, soul and jazz records.

The best thing about this series is that if you don't like hip-hop, no problem cause is it's all funk / soul / rock & r&b up in here! A way to connect all the generations! Wouldn't you find it fun to spring this kinda knowledge on a teenager you know?

SPOILER ALERT! >>> SPOILER ALERT!

I noticed that at times during this video presentation of mine you can't quite understand me over the music so I added the text here for you at the bottom of the page BUT BEWARE. It takes ALL element of surprise out of the show!! You may want to ignore the list until after you have watched the video. That way you can enjoy the presentation without distraction and all the while know you will have all applicable information waiting for you as you leave the theatre. :0)

It also should be noted that I am a Funktual Being meaning that I don't get embarassed by dancing like a total freak because that is entirely the point. People who wanna take themselves seriously can listen to Radiohead. I am a disciple of James, Sly, Curtis & Prince where we wear our Disorderly Conduct proudly like a trophy.

Have you seen this video on the Amen Break? I think I may have linked you to it in another comment or something. It's a must-see for anyone reading this and interested in another old hip-hop sample.

I LOVE THAT VIDEO!  Thanks, Jonno!

BTW, Volume One now has over 4,500 views on Youtube alone.
