Here is today's clue - happy Friday!

U, A or E:

213, 73, 199, 0045, 211, 82, 004F, 0049

Note that we're in our final third of the contest, so the first correct guess wins 3 points now. You all have 3 guesses each, as well.

Congratulations to Blogger Mom who solved this clue first. Today's topic is RELIGION. (the numbers were either Unicode, ASCII or EBCDIC, corresponding each to a capital letter. Unscrambled, it yields "religion".)

You have until noon tomorrow (Saturday, Pacific Time) to publish up to 10 high-quality Hubs, each worth 3 points (yes, three points; that's not a typo; the best Hub wins 15 points!), that must:

  • be on the topic of religion; remember, keep it informative and useful, and not just a purely-personal account of your feelings/experiences about religion; (here are just some examples "The religious complexity of India", "The Old City of Jerusalem", "Native American religions", "Shinto beliefs", etc.)
  • include the tag religion
  • have at least 300 words (no credit for 299 so you might as well overshoot)
  • be unique and significantly different from any other Hub or Web page.

Of course, it must comply with our Terms of Use (not overly promotional, adult, etc.) Keep in mind that in judging, we're looking for Hubs that are informative, interesting, engaging and unique.

BONUS! For each eligible point for the day's contest, you will win one entry into a daily drawing for $100! Read the HubLove Official Contest Thread for more information.

As always, we look forward to seeing the entries!

Also, look later in the day for the updated tally of points on the HubLove Contest page.

Blogger Mom, Congrats. You're too funny.

I'm glad, though. I'd like to be home before midnight.

I checked out the forum topics to kind of get ideas before working on the puzzle - after working on the puzzle for a few minutes, I decided to go with a total guess.

So, can someone please explain it to me? ;)

Man - I had the unicode and ascii just couldn't remember or find the EBCDIC

Congrats Blogger Mom!

Those are character sets used by computers to decipher the letters. Look up character sets online and you will kinda get the picture.

So for example U 004F is actually the letter O.

I was at the same place as you, Horse Tack. EBCDIC is kind of evil -- so so obscure that it didn't even appear in most of the lists of character encodings I found. Hard to unscramble a word when you only have 5 of the 8 letters...

Depends on the five letters. :P
