Today's clue is hosted by Pointless Drivel. Head over to Pointless Drivel and pick up today's topic clue. Then head back here to guess.
Visit Pointless Drivel for today's clue.
Note that we're in our final third of the contest, so the first correct guess wins 3 points now. You all have 3 guesses each, as well.
Supplemental Clue #1 - a Web technology advancement released on April 5, 2005, will help you solve this.
Supplemental Clue #2 - You'll need to plug things into a URL to solve today's clue.
Congratulations to Mystic Biscuit who solved this very, very difficult clue first (well, Blogger Mom got it first, but she had already used up her guesses). Today's topic is RECIPE. (the coordinates and z (zoom factors) correctly input into Google Maps URLs yields the following image to the right. The URLs are as follows (switch to Satellite mode): R - E - C - I - P - E)
You have until noon tomorrow (Sunday, Pacific Time) to publish up to 10 high-quality Hubs, each worth 3 points (yes, three points; that's not a typo; the best Hub wins 15 points!), that must:
be on the topic of recipes; remember, keep it informative and useful, and original (i.e. not copied word-for-word from another site); (here are just some examples "Light and Easy Dinner Recipes", "What to make with leftover egg yolks", "Low-carb snack recipes", "Burmese curries", etc.)
include the tag recipe
have at least 300 words (no credit for 299 so you might as well overshoot)
be unique and significantly different from any other Hub or Web page.
Of course, it must comply with our Terms of Use (not overly promotional, adult, etc.) Keep in mind that in judging, we're looking for Hubs that are informative, interesting, engaging and unique.
BONUS! For each eligible point for the day's contest, you will win one entry into a daily drawing for $100! Read the HubLove Official Contest Thread for more information.
As always, we look forward to seeing the entries!
Also, look later in the day for the updated tally of points on the HubLove Contest page.

Jason--is it okay to throw ideas out, but not clues?
I mean, not my guess to the clue...but are we allowed to talk about solving them here?

Yes, you can discuss. I will assume a single-word comment to be a guess.

where is MC7 ???
To me, it looks like 6 points in 3D-space; 3 are at z = 18, 3 are at z = 19; two of the L,I coordinates are -87.662735, 41.963631 (not necessarily in that order). Looking at trilateration http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trilateration
and http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/gps1.htm to try to see how you would find "centers" -- then once you have the centers (maybe the centers of two triangles in 3-space?) wondering how you convert those to letters.
Somehow, I also feel like I'm overcomplicating this.
auction
I was thinking something about a square, finding the center. Triangles makes sense with the number of numbers there are
other word for centers would be median maybe?
I have just had an idea Mc7 BASED ON YOUR THEORY,my guess would involve this question, where is the centre of the hubpages universe? or where is hubpages based, but i could be wrong
geography
internet
california
California?
sanfr
san francisco
they are some kind of spherical coordinates for locations on the earth, I believe -- Latitude, Longitude, and Z (altitude?) -- then there are probably two cities or something at the center of the two triangles (one at altitude 18 and one at 19) that lead to the final clue
technology
looks like i was wrong sorry guts.....jimmy
guys even lol
ah Jimmy...one guess, at least you are helping. Keep it up dude.
look at the link i posted above it may just help?
AAAK! This is frustrating.
Ar, K, K, Ar, Ar,K, ? Z=18 (Ar) Z=19 (K) I can't figure how that would tie in with the rest of the number.

Initial letters, another guess .....jimmy
yes?
I know it sounds dumb but I'm wondering if when you go to the home page of Pointless drivel, just under the hublove post there is a post called " the answer was so obvious"?
Hmmm..ok maybe not.
The answer is 6 letters or 4?
yes is not one of my clue answers! i was replying to zsuzsy bee.

Jason, would it be better if i shut up lol? am i leading people the wrong way?.....jimmy
You can say whatever you like, Jimmy!
lol great answer, but i was hinting for a clue for the guys hahaha.....jimmy
I cannot wait until someone guesses so we can see the winner of the $100!! Jimmy, help them all you want... :)
I already gave a clue ... it's a one-word answer. ;)
Is there $100 on the line here? I didn't see that...
I believe it is obvious,I've had my 3--it's all pointless drivel!!!
They are talking about the $100 a day drawing for however many hubpages you write on each topic your name goes in that many times to have a chance at that day's drawing for $100.
No, it's not an obvious clue - this one takes considerable work. Put out those lifelines!

talk about your random guesses :/
It is somehow connected to the Chaos Theory, right? (At least how to solve it)
Here are the six latitude/longitude points:
41.471802, 13.013110 43.591069, -87.662735 48.142409, -87.66273541.963631, -116.40265752.4012, -87.357531 41.963631, 16.9578
I've been trying to find a couple of triangles that have a center somewhere on land with this site:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map
No luck yet...
100 Hubs on cleavage - that would be interesting ;-)
Here are the six latitude/longitude points again, hopefully more readable:
41.471802, 13.013110
43.591069, -87.662735
48.142409, -87.662735
41.963631, -116.402657
52.4012, -87.357531
41.963631, 16.9578
Well there are quite a few cleavage pics on Hubpages..you never know
blah..I give up..I was a linguist in the military not a navigator
Its obvious that it has something to do with the Chaos Theory.
Seems the reason why they host the clues on other blogs is to increase readership or something like that. Maybe...and I found two posts on PD that mention Kaos Theory and well Wikipedia Chaos Theory looks like it comes close. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_theory
I think there are already a lot of boobie and cleavage hubs out there ....
Initially I thought because they said "The l’s and l’s are IN "chaos".
Ha ha... well, you're right there Marye and Marlo.
Wow this is tough. Usually by the time I get home from work the clue is already solved.
I'll just remind everyone to read the WHOLE clue.
can we just start making guess? If so do you think anyone would guess the clue that way?
Why do you think it involves chaos theory? Just the use of the word chaos? I think it was just referring to the fact that the pairs of latitude and longitude were randomly forward or reversed (all those in the 41-52 range are latitude, the more extreme numbers are longitude -- they are all in pairs).
Hubpages, can you at least let people know if I'm on the right general track?
Getting warmer? http://hypertextbook.com/chaos/12.shtml
dating
Sorry, no warmer/cooler hints.
So MC7 how do you explain the negative ones? There are no negative latitudes.
History
ah well I totally blew the last clue.
good luck y'all
negative means west
The negative ones are longitude -- like I said, the only latitudes are the 41-52 numbers.
friends
-87 is about Chicago longitude; -116 is close to the west coast of the US; 13 and 16 oare in central or eastern Europe.
the logic of my answer dating if anyone wants to use it as a guess
using the website i listed above, i got the letters Ar, K, K, Ar, Ar,K, so i did a web search with them the letters and got a dating site but it wasn't an i love you type of dating site lol......jimmy
has anyone mentioned that z can be altitude?
water
I think it's related to Chaos Theory as well. But latitude and longitude is also a definite possibility. I think whoever guesses this one deserves more than 3 points.
dating
Shapes
Yeah, z can be altitude... but you don't need that to find the location on a map really -- I'm not sure how that factors in, but it's probably what I'm missing here. I tried making triangles out of the 3 points at 18 and 3 out at 19, but that didn't work either.
also, isn't it likely a 6 letter answer? There are 6 pairs of L and l and 6 z values. Just a hunch.
a country in south america?
sorry again stacie lol..... jimmy
plains
Space
one is
what if z was the number of letters into the location? Like, 41.471802 and -87.662735 is King's Grove Forest Preserve, so the 18th letter is P or the 19th letter is R? Again, just a guess.
that's cool Jimmy. The guesses end the mystery.
It's not L and I -- It's L and L (just both lowercase in the clue posting)... L and L is latitude and longitude
I am out of ideas 80(.....jimmy
Oregon
the answer is one!
41.471802, 13.013110--is in italy
binary code?
It's not a bad idea... but one of the points in in Lake Michigan, which doesn't have 18 or 19 letters...
Mexico
can we have more guesses please Jason? pretty please with sugar on top.....jimmy
would knowing the altitude help you know the correct combination of latitude and longitude numbers?
for 2 points or even 1 if we get it right?
Celebration?
Boston
MC7, that's only if you're sure that's the right location. Also, if you get close enough, you can maybe find a street name? Like one location if you're looking zoomed in enough is West Sunnyside Avenue, giving you U or E. That combo is 41.963631 and -87.662735
The (5) finalists have been listed, now, that is some multi-tasking, HubPages!!
There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo Toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms.Lena is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 AM The next day at 8:45 AM there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee. He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule. The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up.At the end of the line stood Lena surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's.She had a roll of plush red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles. The 2 men watched in amazement as she cut a little piece of fabric, wrapped it around two marbles and began to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs. The Personnel Manager burst into laughter. After several minutes of hysterics he pulled himself together and approached Lena 'I'm sorry,' he said to her, barely able to keep a straight face, 'but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday..''Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles,

I will give you one hint: a Web technology advancement released on April 5, 2005, will help you solve this.
There you go blogger mom. I have no idea what the answer is to the clue... lol
all coordinates are in america, italy{or just off},and canada
going on yesterdays theme religion i have notices that the clues are usualy linked 2 days in a row so i wonder if the answer is related to religion in any way?
Jimmy!!! LOL!!
Jimmy!!! LOL!!
It seems like altitude would only be used to define a camera view in something like Google Earth... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyhole_Markup_Langua you really only need L and L for a location, since the surface of the earth is already defined...
Pointless Drivel is a hilarious website. Maybe the answer is point?

No, it's the date Google added satellite imagery to Google Maps (via the Keyhole integration) --

In April 2005, Apple Computer released Safari 2.0 with RSS Feed capabilities built in. Safari delivered the ability to read RSS feeds, and bookmark them, with built-in search features. Safari's RSS button is a blue rounded rectangle with RSS written inside in white, . The favicon displayed defaults to a newspaper icon
waiting HP can it be something different that a "word"?
Safari?
based on what kenny found, could it be media? (i'm out of guesses)
Write On - No is can't be something different than a word. It has to be a topic that people can write about.

I'm going to go soon, and come back probably late tonight... in the meantime, I can pretty much guarantee that the numbers are latitude, longitude, and probably altitude, and that hubpages is probably referring to the satellite imaging in google maps...
Communication would have been a great topic!
somebody try "world" just for fun:-)
Writing hubs will be tough this go around. It's been almost 3 hours and the clue hasn't been solved. Plus we spring forward tonight, so that's another hour lost.
I thought it was world but what does that have to do with the hint?
What is a good site to get the locations for the latitude and longitude?

Read the clue again, read the comments and the extra clue I left in the comments.
Yes, it's entirely possible that the clue will not be solved by the time noon rolls around again. (and thanks for the reminder, Angela, about DST)
^^^^ I was just playing.

Do you mean comments here? Or where the clue is posted?
I guess he means here...someone came very close.
Hubpages, you are welcome.
And HP, make up a fake identity. Log in and tell the answer. I'm desperate at this point. If no one answers this, I will be up all night checking to see if anyone has solved this. LOL
No, I have no power to change anything on the clue sponsors' sites.
I posted a clue in the comments: I will give you one hint: a Web technology advancement released on April 5, 2005, will help you solve this.
There were a few guesses already about it.

If there is not an answer by noon tomorrow then will you reveal the answer and logic behind figuring it out?
No, the comment I left on Pointless Drivel is in no way related to this. Just a joke for Mr Fabulous.
And yes, I will reveal the answer and logic behind it at noon tomorrow if noone guessed it correctly by then.
I posted something on Yahoo Answers, and saw someone else did it on Lycos...but it hasn't been helpful yet.
Are you sure you didn't mean April 5, 2007?
MC7 - that is true but what about the l's and l's? That has got to be part of the logic to figure out the clue.
I'm sure. April 5, 2005. Didn't you already find something for that date?
No one has figured it out yet?! Gosh, I've been skiing all day and figured I'd come here to some answer... I guess I have to give it a shot now, huh?

Ding! Ding! I think we have another clue within a clue. MC7 asked to clarify the April 5, 2005 date, thinking maybe it was for 2007 instead. HP replied with a No, we're sure. And besides, didn't you find something for that date already? I'm pretty certain this is a thumbs up from HP that it was the needed information.MC7's find for the date was Google maps satellite imagery. There have been so many responses lately that I just wanted to make sure no one missed that little hint.

if the clue is Java - could it be a place like Jakarta or Indonesia - since we are talking of longtitude and latitiude
if Safari - could it be a place in Africa......just some thought. I wonder....

lol - Helena - that may be a problem. If someone does guess this clue then everyone is going to have a headache and have a hard time getting hubs done.

The problem with random guessing is that you've all exhausted your guesses, and there's no logic behind the guesses so people with guesses remaining will be reluctant to guess without the proper logic behind it.

Jason, I think I still have one guess left. But I have no idea just yet.
I will say that everything will come together once you figure it out - the answer will be very clear. It shouldn't feel like you're just hazarding a guess.
Advice: Reread the clue. And then the first supplemental clue. And then the second. Reread all 3 again. And again. And again. :-)
I bet its something I've never heard of.
Jimmy - this is clearly the toughest clue yet. But if I do say myself (blows on fingernails, rubs on shirt) it's a brilliant one.
I think its a 6-letter clue. And I think it will have something to do with unscrambling the coordinates (maybe...?)
lol,jason
Whoever came up with that clue should be locked in an asylum.
What do Elvis and Jesus have in common, and how can we make that a 1-word clue?
Something to do with sightings after they were dead, perhaps?
Is the topic "death"?
Only people who are bent on world domination, terrorism (like you're doing to us now) and know physics (useful for building Hbombs (something that has atoms (which is a web technology))) think up stuff like that. Ouch, my brain.
stephhicks68 - That could be part of it. Make sure you integrate all 3 clues. Find a way they all fit so give yourselves a direction to take. Give me a sec and I'll put the 2 supplemental clues up at the top.
Keny - :)
I hope we never have to write about death. That is toooooo depressing.
has anyone said...
HOME
YET?
domain?
domain is too narrow for a topic.... but HOME IS PERFECT!
pointless is his "work" and yet he has given us exact "points" or places of residence...
Home! or a different work with a wide ability to write, not on the internet necessarily? Just a thought:-)
Come on you guys with guesses left - I'm out, but HubPages giving us some direction. No random guesses!
The centre of the square is in Lake Michigan, but the centre of the south side of the square is a shopping centre on 81st Ave - is the topic "shopping"?
this is NOT RANDOM... :-) you go and do what we have been told and you shall see for yourself!
:-)
Gosh, I'd hate to live in the middle of the Mediterranean or in Antartica (spelling?) which is where these L&L points went when I plugged 'em in in order on google maps. :P
shopping has been guessed and that would be too narrow of topic
he said to plug them into a URL...
I did. It was my second guess.
Here's another hint:
chaos != in order
shopping isn't narrow at all. lol I'm reserving my final guess to see what is said.. I think it is domain, though, because a domain name is what you type in to the URL box in your browser. :D
No! The L&L are all mixed up, which is stupid and frustrating. :P But I didn't read that, and looked it up all in order, which was ultimately fruitless (and what gamergirl did, too, apparently).
I'm almost positive that it's a 6-letter word, which is why all 3 of my guesses were 6-letter words (though admittedly the last two were just random 6-letter-word guesses because I was frustrated).
I can't figure out what would be 18 or 19 km above the earth in 6 locations, though, so I imagine I'm looking at it wrong anyway.
drive
No, the points weren't in order.
The square is
41.963631, -87.662735
41.471802, -87.662735
41.963631, -87.357531
41.471802, -87.357531
Ohhh, that makes a lot more sense, Inspirepub. Stupid Antarctica...
Clue: The z’s are given. The l’s and l’s are in chaos. Right them, and find the centers.
Supplemental Clue #1 - a Web technology advancement released on April 5, 2005, will help you solve this.
Supplemental Clue #2 - You'll need to plug things into a URL to solve today's clue.
"LdsNana-AskMormon - has anyone said...HOME YET?"
I was responding to you when I said "I did. It was my second guess." (Whatever, it does not matter) Too many post in between to follow yours - no biggie :D
UNIVERSE!!!!!!
Inspire, why would there be extra L&L given then? I have a feeling they're part of things, like two triangles, maybe?
Google added satellite imagery to its maps on April 5, 2005, and the default zoom level is 18. However you can increase it up to 23 if more detailed images are available.
opera
Here are some comments I like:
Blogger Mom:
also, isn't it likely a 6 letter answer? There are 6 pairs of L and l and 6 z values. Just a hunch.
MC7: No, it's the date Google added satellite imagery to Google Maps (via the Keyhole integration) --
That's all I'll say from now until tomorrow noon. You'll have to reread, reread, and reread this again in order to solve this (and avoid diversions). Or, have a very, very lucky guess :-)
I'm not sure, gamergirl - I haven't solved it!
But one corner of the square is West Sunnyside avenue, a block from Graceland Cemetery, and another is King's Grove Forest Preserve (but you have to zoom to 19 to find that out), right next to Calvary Cemetery.
Hence Elvis and Jesus.
achos? ach operating system?
Hubpages, can those of us who guessed before the additional clues were given have two more guesses?
No, you have 3 total. There are benefits to jumping in early and exhausting your guesses, and there are benefits to keeping your guesses. :)
No problem, just never knew you would be given extra clues - now I know.
This clue is sadistic, Jason. lol
no one is ever going to get this are they.
Jason, there is a moron logged in as DehiEscorts spamming the Forums - can you kick them off, please?
Thanks Jenny. Taken care of. :)
Major EUREKA moment when you do figure it out.
Has it occured to anyone besides me thatt he name Jason was heavily involved in a rather horrifying, emotionally scarring movie? Because I am really seeing some parallels. :)
Thanks, Jason - now that's service ... :)
Im tired of waiting for someone to gess it and i cant cause i used all mine
Ha ha Marye. Really, I didn't think it would take this long for you guys to get it. I am stuck at home and it is GORGEOUS outside, so I'd have to be a masochist too.
Is your use of EUREKA another clue? I'm highly suspicious.
Okay, drumroll, I'm just going to use up my last guess anyway.
so.. here it is.. and probably wrong..
is it traffic?
going to bed its after 1am here, goodnight all and good luck with tonights clue,
I hope that someone solves it.
my final guess is an idea that struck me a few moments ago and to explain my logic behind it would be impossible lol.
it is to do with the two extra clues though
Supplemental Clue #1 - a Web technology advancement released on April 5, 2005, will help you solve this.
Supplemental Clue #2 - You'll need to plug things into a URL to solve today's clue.
i think the clue is a place
one of the hubclues was china for the contest
on that theme i would try BRAZIL, the country has a z an I and an L it contains 6 letters and i am too tired to think lol.....jimmy
someone get it
Eureka - unrelated. Haven't seen the right answer yet. Just keep rereading the clues I've given (explicitly). Trust me, you'll be glad I told you to reread them 10 times. :)

Clues exhausted, and five and a half hours later, I'm gonna go play World of Warcraft.
Whoever solves it will get an extra prize, dinner paid for by Misha! >.> *whispers* He doesn't know yet, but he'll do it. haha
I'm off to a dinner/auction thing. I hope its solved when I get back 4 hours from now... good luck all!!
Well, if it is a place it's odd, because those points centre on Chicago, and we've already had Chicago.
Jenny you can't plug Chicago into an url...
Oh my heck. When I get home and the clue is not solved yet, this is very bad!! Where is MC7? I bet he comes back tonight and solves it. Probably still working on it in that MC7 brain.
Hubpages, you comment "I am stuck at home and it is GORGEOUS outside, so I'd have to be a masochist too." was soooo mean - it is 20 degrees where I am! I wonder if anyone here if from Ohio - they got 16 inches of snow today!

I'm in the south west of Ontario and we have blizzard blowing outside...
MarloByDesign, wow. I lived in Ohio for over 25 years total off and on. I am so glad I'm not there now. I don't miss that weather at all.
Zsuzsy, you have to plug the numbers into the Google Maps URL to see where the places are.

Inspirepub, I believe it's staring us right in the eye, but I've yet to have my EUREKA moment.
It points to Chicago? Is the river green yet for St. Patrick's Day? Just wondering :)
Nope, it's not been guessed yet. And it's not one of those forehead-smacking, right-under-your-nose clues, either. It does take work.
RECIPE RECIPE RECIPE
SOMEONE GUESS THIS IT'S RIGHT - I WILL EXPLAIN AFTER YOU GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!
How about you explain first, and see if you can convince us?
The L and L matches to points on Google Satellite. The Z is the zoom on Google Satellite. Zoom to 18 or 19 to get the buildings SHAPED LIKE LETTERS! =)
What a great clue HubPages!
If it's not recipe, it's something with the letters R P E C E I
ok i'll bite. I guess recipe.
You got it, Blogger Mom! Well, unofficially. Mystic Biscuit wins the 3 pts. :)
Props to my brilliant husband who figured out that Z on Google Satellite corresponded to the zoom. Love ya, Babe! =)
Ok blogger mom - please give me exact instructions on how you work the zoom to 18 or 19 and which coordinates you used.
Brilliant Blogger Mom! :)
There's an explanation above, but Blogger Mom, you or your husband can explain your thought process!
Yea, yea, yea!
Cool. Blogger Mom, you're a genius.
Made a list of Longitude and a list of Latitude. Went through every possible combo using Google Satellite. We were always set to a zoom of 17-19 (can check in URL) so we could quickly see what combos worked and which did not. The buildings/letters really just popped right out as us as we went through the combos. Once he figured out the z = zoom, we figured the whole thing out in 5 minutes.
Again, I have to say to the HubPages guys - great clue!
YAYYYY SOMEONE GOT IT!!
Great explanation! I'm glad you enjoyed the clue. :)
BTW, the correct combos of L, L and Z are listed in Mr. HubPages reply up above. If you hoover over each letter in the answer you will see the URL and you can replicate it for yourself in Google Satellite.
Good job blogger mom!
Thank heavens!!!!!! Thanks Bloggermom. You (and your husband) are awesome!!
Oh? Ok...good work Blogger Mom & Co.
OMG...no one has got it yet!?
congrats mistic biscuit!
you all are awesome. I gave up hours ago - I have no patience for this type of mental gymnastics - plugging in all those coordinates and unscrambling the results made me run away fast!
Fascinating way to get to recipes! Bravo Blogger Mom!!
Just got back -- very cool clue (though hard!). I see there were some extra clues after I left -- I might have had a chance with the URL clue, though it takes some patience to look through every permutation of the L&L (I assumed that they were still jumbled in their original pairs, since it was still alternating latitudes and longitudes -- not really a chaotic mixing then). All the buildings are indeed easy to see, except the r is not so intuitive, since it is lower-case.
I had initially assumed it translated to 6 letters, with two of the same letters (because of the 2 lats and 2 longs that were the same), hence my first guess "sports" from the list of hot topics.
Whooo hooo! So glad to see its solved! Great work Blogger Mom!
