HubLove Clue - Sunday, March 9
51Here is today's clue:
You'll need to subtract two:
- Antlers
- Arraias
- Ca Mau
- Eros
- Gordil
- Lewis Lockport
- Nioki
- Theodore
Note that we're in our final third of the contest, so the first correct guess wins 3 points now. You all have 3 guesses each, as well.
Congratulations to MC7 who solved today's clue first. Today's topic is TECHNOLOGIES. (The cities have the following airport codes, in the correct order, with the last two subtracted: ATE+CAH+NIO+LOT+GDI+ERS-AAI-TDR=ATECAHNIOLOTGDIERS-AAITDR=TECHNOLOGIES)
You have until noon tomorrow (Monday, Pacific Time) to publish up to 10 high-quality Hubs, each worth 3 points (yes, three points; that's not a typo; the best Hub wins 15 points!), that must:
- be on the topic of technologies; remember, keep it informative and useful, and original; (here are just some examples "OLED - Organic LED Displays", "Biofuel Technologies", "Household robots", "Affordable green tech for the home", etc.)
- include the tag technologies
- have at least 300 words (no credit for 299 so you might as well overshoot)
- be unique and significantly different from any other Hub or Web page.
Of course, it must comply with our Terms of Use (not overly promotional, adult, etc.) Keep in mind that in judging, we're looking for Hubs that are informative, interesting, engaging and unique.
BONUS! For each eligible point for the day's contest, you will win one entry into a daily drawing for $100! Read the HubLove Official Contest Thread for more information.
As always, we look forward to seeing the entries!
Also, look later in the day for the updated tally of points on the HubLove Contest page.

Here's a tip for folks -- all eight of these elements are airports, and their airport codes are:
ATE
AAI
CAH
ERS
GDI
LOT
NIO
TDR
Yes, I figured that out, and I think you need to subtract two letters from each to get an 8 letter clue. Litigate works, but I can't believe that would be the clue. But, I am a lawyer... LOL
Yup MC7, that was the first path I went down, and keep returning to.

children - final guess!
Gotta go, will check back in an hour or three to see if anyone's gotten any farther. You people be nice and help each other :)
I have an idea that the answer is a six letter word you have to remove 2 of the 8 codes then rearrange the rest until you get a word.....jimmy
I thought that too, Jimmy.

I have used all my guesses but try removing ANtlers and Lewis Lockport..they are both in the states..Everything else is in the southern hemisphere, I think.
i have no guesses left but anyone who is willing to risk a life from the formula i mentioned above you could try the word nature.....jimmy
dont try nature i made a boo boob
Nature. :)
Yeah, not sure where the "u" in nature would come from.
Haven't seen the right answer yet.

1st supplemental clue: has nothing to do with maps, everything to do with letters.
Oh, to have saved a guess.
Stacie - heads up; you have 1 remaining. I had to accept "South Atlantic" even though you retracted it a minute later.
I know Jason. I knew it wasn't a "retraction", but didn't want anyone to think I was making random guesses. I realized it was all wrong the moment I posted it. Blek.
OK; fortunately you have a guess left!
What is wrong with random guesses, that is what most of did for 6 hours yesterday, lol

hubpages, do you have to the the exact word (tree vs trees for example) NOT a guess?
what the hell are you people talking about?
It has to be the exact word.
OCEANS
Hey, DJ Funktual!
I STRONGLY suggest avoiding random guesses...but your guesses are yours to do with as you please. :)
I may be reading too much into the clue, but has anyone considered their use of "two" instead of "2"? The only airport listed with those letters is Lewis Lockport. If you eliminate that airport then perhaps it is a seven letter answer? I just threw this out there because HubPages stressed that this clue had *everything* to do with letters.
Seriously. I think the sleep deprivation is slowing my brain processes. Or something.

It's been another hour. Supplemental clue #2: Think CODES and subtracting out TWO of them.
So, I'm wondering - why didn't MC7 actually make any guesses??
Aside: today's winners have been announced:
Hubpages, are we even a little close? I know you do not like to do hot and cold, how about warm and not-so-warm?
IS IT A TWO WORD CLUE JASON?
Marlo: That's difficult as our definitions of warm/cool could be different and I see plenty of different approaches.
Jimmy: One word.
thanks Jason Keep forgetting to turn off caps lol.....jimmy
some states are two words and yet one clue... what about that?
Write On! what do you mean by states? I think it is airport codes.
airport
Last guess - using airport codes, taking two away, and two letters from each
Design?
what the heck, only 'airports' was guessed, thought I would try, no such luck - good luck to everyone.
Hi Stacie - I agree, but those "city" names also if researched and taking out two come up with some very interesting correlations, but one I am thinking of has two words..
how is that for a riddle? lol But perhaps it is another but I dont' see it?
Write On!
WO - but those are airport names, not city names. Do you mean the cities the airports are in?
I'm not feeling well (unrelated to the contest) so I'm going to give a very good clue.
Supplemental clue #3: Line up 6 of the 8 airport codes. Subtract out the letters in the other 2. It will spell a word. Use a word unscrambler if that helps.
That would be part of the riddle Stacie:-) Good work... I give you 10Pts!
Isn't that what we are up to right now... puzzle playing? LOL
Write On!

Why dird that come up 3 times lol

I need to check out for an hour, so I won't be responding, even to correct guesses. So keep them coming in!
Keep in mind that if you're putting in 6 3-letter codes, and taking out 2 3-letter codes, that leaves a 12 letter word.
If i read the third clue correctly Jason is telling us that only two of the eight codes put together will spell out the word or will be an anagram of the word.....jimmy
well i read it wrong lol posted that as jason posted his.....jimmy

good one, MC7

Oh, I sure hope we get the verdict soon (and Jason is feeling better!)
MC7 got it! Thanks folks.
Hooray!
HEY Jason, go to bed now get yourself all better for tomorrows clue lol.....jimmy
Feel better, Jason.
Now that it's over what the hell was that all about and can i play too?
i love u angela harris
??? I love you, too? Thanks, I need all the Hublove I can get. ;)
DJ Funktual, sure you can play. You got a shot at winning the $100 bucks a day. As far as the final prize, it's definitely between Stacey and Whitney. Or just play for the heck of it.
