This is the first clue for the HubLove Contest. It's a really easy one; trust us, they will get harder as the contest progresses.
CLUE:
"The four-letter word for the emotion normally associated with St. Valentine's Day"

Congratulations to JimmytheJock who solved this clue first. Today's topic is indeed LOVE. (Jimmythejock - the gentleman - has forfeited his official point in favor of an unofficial one, which is ineligible for the prize but still will count in the leaderboard. tbartle has 1 official point.)
You have until noon tomorrow (Friday, Pacific Time) to publish up to 10 high-quality Hubs, that must:
- be on the topic of love (like "The difference between love and infatuation", "Love in the Middle Ages", "Ways to tell stepchildren you love them", etc.)
- include the tag love
- have at least 300 words (no credit for 299 so you might as well overshoot)
- be unique and significantly different from any other Hub or Web page
Of course, it must comply with our Terms of Use (not overly promotional, adult, etc.)
We look forward to seeing the entries! HubPages will judge the day's best-quality Hub, worth 5 points.

remember, jimmy can't officially compete in the contest as he's not in the US so david and Maddie both blew their chances at gaining that point by not actually answering.

We'll give Jimmy the point even though he is openly not eligible to winning the prize. He can and will be featured in the Leaderboard when we update it tomorrow.

Giving points to people who aren't actually eligible seems like an incredibly crappy way to run a contest and I'm officially stepping down as a judge.
relache - We know that Jimmy is ineligible because he has openly disclosed it. There could be hundreds of other contestants that could be participating "under the radar" that are not, in fact, eligible. It is impossible to verify eligibility of each and every participant before starting.
If Jimmy wants to forfeit his point then we can move down the list to the next eligible entry. But we will give him an unofficial point anyway.

I can't win so points mean nothing to me i am quite happy to forfiet and give the points to a US resident, I will be quite happy to win virtual points.....jimmy

Hi relache, please don't step down as a judge I will take no further part in the contest from now apart from the day I have been asked to be a judge.
Although I may write a hub about the days topic in the contest I ask hubpages not to include them as part of the contest.
OK; Jimmy will have 1* point (unofficial - but he will still be in the leaderboard), and tbartle (unless she forfeits) will get 1 point for the day.

Congrats Jimmy even if your point is unofficial. I still remember the contest back in the fall of 2006 when you helped all of us by writing hubs for the contest they ran at that time. You couldn't win the the cash prize for the day but, since the size of the prize depended upon the number of hubs, submitted each day in the contest, you helped increase the prize for the winner. As a frequent winner in that contest, my wallet and I appreciated your participation and I, for one, have no objection to your joining the fun this time even though the prize doesn't fluctuate with the volume of hubs or responses. An Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family.
