My favorite road trip ever started in Greensboro, NC and ended up in Savannah, GA for Saint Patrick's Day. Savannah's St. Patrick's Day celebration has been called second only to Mardi Gras. I've never been to Mardi Gras, but I had a blast in Savannah after that all night drive.

The second largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the country begins at 10:15 am, and this years 185th annual event is expected to draw a crowd of 400,000.

Everyone might love a parade, but to me, the real fun is on the Waterfront. With non-stop live entertainment, historic River Street hosts a true Par-Tay!

I had such a good time in Savannah for St. Patty's Day that I thought participating in this week's Hub Mob would be a breeze. I am finding it difficult, however, to manage the task.

I think my sister summed it up:

"There is not a thing that I have ever done at the St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Savannah that I would want to tell my mama."

Misbehaving at St. Patty's Day in Savannah

Yes, there are beads...but the official word is that nudity will get you arrested.

Several websites outline the drinking rules - basically, you better have an armband if you want to stroll River Street with a drink in hand. And trust me...you do. It doesn't even have to be green beer. My sister's fave is a Call-a-Cab from Wet Willy's. She's never met anyone who *remembers* having more than two Call-a-Cabs.

I do remember seeing "families" at this event, so don't let my hub scare you away. I mean that parade is a bonafide historic event. It is definitely one of those great times you don't exactly remember having, if you want to celebrate it that way, but Savannah is a great destination even sober....I think.

I went to Savannah once for St. Patrick's Day....one of the best times I ever had. I behaved myself because I was with my then husband, Jeff and 2 of his coworkers. I want so badly to let my hair down and party in the streets and waterfront with everyone else. I've decided next time I go it will be with Dineane. ;)

thank you Karla - but I have to admit, I paid money for my beads :-) and nothing else! We should plan the trip though! We would have a blast!
