I postponed my first wrap-the-arm-in-plastic shower experience as long as I thought my husband could stand it. The first shower was awkward, and I admit, with my plastic-wrapped-broken arm held high above my head, I really did more of a rinse than a wash. It wasn't until patting myself dry that I noticed the three-day under-arm growth and wondered how I would possibly stand it for the yet to be determined recovery period.
My second shower the next day was in preparation for my post-ER appointment with the orthopeadic doctor. I told myself I probably wouldn't have to take my shirt off, but just in case, I decided to give it a try.
I'm happy to report that shaving your right armpit using your right hand is indeed possible! The results might not be perfect, but the effort has kept me from feeling too gross.
My Broken Arm
I haven't given much thought to shaving my legs since falling from my sister's porch April 5th. The hair on my legs is fortunately very fair, so it's not unusual for my laziness to result in a once-a-month hair removal effort on my legs. I suspect I'll try it soon (it's April 29th as of this writing), but I really don't anticipate that being much of a problem.
As if this hub wasn't TMI already (but what do you expect from a hubmob topic such as hair removal?), my...um...bikini area is another issue. It's bugging the H, E, double-hockey sticks outta me, and my husband doesn't seem to understand why it takes two hands to shave down there.
Well, guys, as the gals know, ya gotta be careful down there!
I am happy to report, however, that things are not growing back as gray down there as I thought they would after several years of almost bare.
(I have to wonder at this point if "down there" might be a keyword with SEO value.)
Hubpages, I hope you're happy! This might be a short hub in desperate need of a follow-up, but I think I deserve a special team participation reward this week for my one-handed typing (and hair removal) effort!
We are hoping to head to the North Carlina Outer Banks this weekend so I can watch my husband fish. My post-surgery followup went very well. I have a removable brace now, have started exercising my wrist, and can get my arm wet. Maybe I'll come up with a followup for one-handed hair removal before the weekend...or better yet a one-handed fishing hub after the weekend!

I fractured my arm when I was eight, and I slammed my right hand thumb in a car door when I was twenty, so I got used to having to write with my left hand quite a few times. I also think you deserve a reward for typing with one arm. Very interesting hub on hair removal by the way.
Thanks, Ladies! I'm happy to report I managed the rest of my hair removal before heading to the beach, AND I caught fish! It hurt reeling 'em in, but I did it :-)
We are proud of you Dineane. The week after I was married I had surgery on my right wrist and was in a cast and sling for a time. My husband helped me to hook my bra, brush my teeth and became my right-hand man in many ways. Now I think he might let me fend for myself a little more, but it was very nice of him at the time.
Glad you are managing well.
Rochelle, you husband sounds nicer than mine - he got sick of helping around day 2 or 3! Thanks for the comment!
Ladies, NOW you can do your hair with one hand! I'm an amputee and got tired of short hair, so I found a way to do it.
