Hubpages - How to Write Relevant Comments

How to write relevant comments is an easy question and should be rendered an easy answer.  But the question is not as easy as one would think with the myriad of articles that are written online that deserve your comment or response.  Your response will depend on the article in which you are responding.  You must decide if the article is informative, persuasive, arugmentative or just for fun.  When you are a part of a online group,  you must depend on a strategy of providing what is called constructive criticism to remain a viable part of the group.

Informative articles such as information about travel or a new scientific discovery rarely needs a comment.  These articles do not need a comment because the infomation and facts are provided that are not opinionated.  Mostly, it is the opinionated articles that gets the most comments and you should openly voice what you feel about the topic.  People of course will disagree with you because that is the nature of giving your opinion and that is to garnish an honest response.  There is no right or wrong answer so bantering can go on and on.  For example an article about Rihanna and Chris Brown, Why did She Go Back to him will get answers well after Chris Brown has been involved in a new relationship.  People like to talk about celebrities and the comments has no time and space only the comment that the person leave about their opinions.

The persuasive article demands a comment that is strong with facts to voice what you feel about an important issue such as politics or the environment.  Persuasive articles are full of twists and turns that get the reader to comment based on their knowledge of the subject.  Persuavive articles can be paired with augumentive articles because of the plausibility of the subject matter being that of controversy.  Controversy means that the issue has not been decided and the pros and cons on both sides of the argument is strong and persuasive.  When you leave comments to the persuasive and argumentive articles, you may want to list factual information with numbers to give your comment relevance and credibility.

Credibility is the internet writer major obtacle in leaving comments because when dealing with persuasive articles, no one really wants to read about opinions because other comments are stoic in their answers.  If you get involved as the writer in a barage of comments that seem to have no end, especially in a bantering situation, it is up to you to use tactic to let each commenter know that his writing about your article is appreciated.  Always thank the commenter for writing and do not use a tone that indicates that you do not want to hear from him or her again.  Leave the door open for a return of comments on your other articles by agreeing with part of what is being said and then voice your opinion.  There are always two sides to one story and you want to respond with credibility.

Articles that are written just for the fun of it will have one sentence responses and may very well go off topic and become a general conversation between readers of your articles.  If you participate in this forum type of commenting, try not to dominate the commenting away from the article and stay on topic.  Sometimes, it is the writer of the article that has to bring the commenters back to the subject matter when the comments goes off topic.

Forums and chat rooms are major parts of social media and these conversations should be held in that setting as the reader is looking for credible and relevant comments on his or her writing style or article content to learn how to prepare future written work.

Summary on How to Write Comments Online

Writers consider you a precious commodity as you write comments about their written content. Write in a respectful manner and use correct grammar so that you can be understood. You are not paid in dollars and cents for commenting. Most writers use a pleasant "thank you" as payment to you for leaving a comment and is much appreciative of you for reading their articles. Your comments should be relevant to the subject and do read the article instead of just glancing at the topic and then began commenting.

Though writers appreciate all comments, they will be pleased if the article is fully read so that you can address portions that are relevant to you. Do not randomly select a few writers to comment on with the intent of gaining friends or fans. Do not write on comments because you want to talk with a person who has commented on the article. The purpose of the article is to inform, persuave, augue, or just for fun. If you comment just to be talking to a friend then you are missing the whole idea of the comments placed beneath the article for comments on the article.

Adhere to what you have read in How to Write Relevant Comments and your fan or friend base will increase automatically. You will learn how to respond to articles also by reading others who has decided to leave comments. Commenting is not a give and take game. You do not have to comment because someone commented on your work. Remember, the name of the game for online writing is relevance. Read and comment on articles that are interesting and relevant to you. Writing comments online can be an enjoyable experience and remember to treat others as you would like to be treated.

Good relevant hub. I have noticed that some Hub comments are left just because. I especially liked your advice about the fact that opinionated hubs get the most comments. That has been my experience as well. An opinion, as opposed to fact, seems to engage the reader more and draw them out.

tdarby, thank you for your comment. Writing informational hubpages is like a listening to a preacher give his sermon. No one audibly disagrees as in the case of factual hubpages. The controversial hubpages bring in the most comments.
