Know which hubs are making you money!!!

You have just joined HubPages, and have started writing articles. I assume you have also joined Google Adsense. If you're writing in HubPages looking ahead for those big bucks, make sure you didn't miss out on one of your greatest tool. The Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a website traffic reporting tool. It generates detailed reports on visitors to your articles or hubs. These reports are invaluable if you want to get the most money from your writings.

Please, learn from my mistakes. I wrote this hub because I'm hoping that you would get to read this before the same thing happens to you.

When I joined HubPages, I was so eager to get started and so I simply wrote and published my first hub. And then another hub. And then another hub again. Hubs after hubs until I had written more than twenty (20) hubs.

And then one early morning, as I checked on my Google Adsense account, I was shocked!

I was getting $3.50 per click earnings on my account.

I had to know which hubs they were coming from so I could concentrate my writings on those high-income generating hubs. I went to my Google Analytics, and to my dismay, I did'nt have any data on it.

I had not set my Google Analytics right. I had not set Analytics to track my Adsense earnings.

When I finally get my Adsense and Analytics working together to properly track my earnings, the high-income generating clicks had disappeared.

I lost the valuable information forever.

LESSON:  Make sure your Google Adsense and Google Analytics accounts are set properly and are tracking all your earnings.

How To Make It Work

1.  Sign up for a Google Analytics account: http://www.google.com/analytics/home

2.  Create a new profile within your Analytics account to monitor http://hubpages.com.

3.  Copy the Analytics Affiliate Code to your Affiliate Settings.  You do not need to paste any Google Analytics script or code onto any of your hubs.  When you provide the Affiliate Code to HubPages, it automatically inserts all the tracking codes needed by Google Analytics to track all of your hubs.

4.  It could take a few hours, or possibly a day, before you can see any Adsense report on your Google Analytics.  Be patient, please.

How to get detailed stats on hub traffic and increase your earnings? - Yes, there is definitely a sure-shot way to get more detailed stats on the traffic to your hubs and what keywords are taking visitors to your hubs and that is Google Analytics. You can open up the Google Analytics account via hubpages. Just go ahead and sign up for Analytics in your hubpages account's affiliate settings and paste the Google Analytics tracking code in your affiliate settings section. It is really easy to sign up with all the details provided by hubpages in the affiliate settings section.

The Easiest Way to Exclude Traffic from Your Internal Computers in Google Analytics, No IP Address Lookup! - Don't spend time trying to analyze your Google Analytics traffic until you've followed this simple guide to excluding your own traffic from the analytics results. When your web site has relatively few visitors, your influence as the author of the web site on the traffic statistics may make them nearly meaningless.

Google Analytics vs Urchin - Google Analytics is the child of a software called Urchin software. Urchin is a software utility that will run on a local server (Unix and Windows) and which provides web analytics reports by analyzing web server logfiles - as well as HYBRID logfiles - which have greater accuracy.

How To Use Google Analytics - Questions about Google Analytics seem to be pretty popular here on HubPages. I've seen various questions and discussions on the forums about Google Analytics and it's uses. Apparently, many of you are unsure of how to use the application or are intimidated by it.

Multum in parvo. Useful info.

I take a cruder view. If no one has viewed a hub for 30 days and it is one of the least viewed ever it goes.
