This is a quick guide or howto for people like me who hates reading long instructions. This should get you started real quick with HubPages. This article or hub was written specifically for newcomers to HubPages.

1. Register an account at HubPages.

2. Create your first hub and publish it.

3. Join Google Adsense. This will take a few days before you get approved as a publisher.

4. Join eBay Partner Network. This also takes several days to get approved.

5. Join Amazon Associate Program. Your application gets approved immediately.

6. Join Kontera Advertising Network. Your application here gets approved immediately.

7. Edit your profile's affiliate settings as soon as your applications for the affiliate programs get approved.

8. Continue creating additional hubs.

Important Notes:

If you have not yet joined any of the affiliate programs, your hubs will not start making money. Join at least Google Adsense. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PASTE ANY GOOGLE ADSENSE CODE INTO YOUR HUBS. Just fill in the Publisher ID in the Affiliate Settings and Hubpages will take care of inserting Google Adsense ads into your hubs.

1. Register an account at HubPages. In order for you to sign up, you need a username, a password, and a valid e-mail address. For the username, you may not use your real name. A lot of people use a screen name. I, for one, use the screen name "LVM." Use a password that is easy to remember yet others will have a hard time guessing. The e-mail address may be a gmail, hotmail, or a yahoo mail address.

2. Create your first hub. Choose an interesting title for the topic you intend to write about.. When you create your first hub, there is a default photo module and a default text module. Upload a photo for your hub and then write the text of your hub on the text module. The hub should be around 500 to 700 words. When you are done, press the "Publish" button to publish your hub.

3. Join Google Adsense. Your published hub will not start to earn money unless you join Google Adsense and tell Hubpages about your Adsense Publisher ID. You may see after publishing your first hub that it is aready showing Google ads. Those Google ads are being credited (the earnings, I mean) to HubPages until you provide them with your Publisher ID. Makes sense, doesn't it? Since you have not provided them a Publisher ID, any money your hub earns will go directly into their pocket rather than not crediting Google or the advertiser for the advertisement made.

4. Join eBay partner network. Actually this is an optional step. I suggest that you do this step after you have written a couple more hubs since eBay will take a look at your site to see if you have sufficient webpage content to warrant their approval.

5. Join Amazon associate program. This is also an optional step that you may do later after you have published several hubs.

6. Join Kontera Advertising Network. Another optional step and for the same reason, Kontera wants hubs with lots of textual content for them to consider your application.

7. Edit your profile's affiliate setting once Google Adsense approves your application to become a publisher. This is the most important step if you want to earn money with HubPages. This is where you tell HubPages about your Adsense Publisher ID so they can place your earnings there. Click the "Affiliate Settings" button, press the "edit" button on the left of the word "Google Adsense Publisher ID" and the type in your Publisher ID.

8. Write and publish additional hubs. If you write only a few hubs, chances are you will not make money with HubPages. The more hubs you write, the more pageviews you will get, and the more chances of earning money when someone clicks on the ads.
