How to get the best out of the HubChallenge
64HubChallenge Tips
The HubChallenge has started. It is already 1:30 AM in my part of the World and I have already published my first contribution to this Challenge. I have been with HubPages for over a year and have published 150 plus hubs and this challenge is extremely important to me as this is the first time I am taking any challenge related to HubPages. I am extremely grateful to this site as I have learned more about making money on the internet in this one year than my entire life put together. HubPages have also enabled me to be a better writer than what I was before and have branded me as an expert on Gemstones and Hindu Religious Mantras and have given me the web exposure I could not have dreamed of elsewhere. So what can be a better way to express my gratitude than accept the Challenge and Contribute to this site? However, I am also aware that by accepting the Challenge I am only helping myself because
1) 100 more Hubs will help me reach the magical figure of 250.
2) More content means chances of making more money with adsense, eBay and Amazon.
3) By participating I am also leading my referrals by example. If I can do it, anyone can!
I am not an expert to talk on this subject but here is what I plan to do and think you should do too in the coming days.
- Stay Focused on my Goal and Plan my Action: Being a Marketing person I have always
made a habit of writing down my Goals and planning how to accomplish it.
This time my goal is to write 100 hubs in 30 days which would mean 4 hubs
a day considering the fact that I may not want to write hubs on a Sunday
or want to go out on the weekend. I
have made an Excel sheet on what I would write on these 30 days and how
many hubs to write on a daily basis. Now all I need to do is focus on my
Goal and stick on to the plan. If you find it difficult to plan all the 30 days in advance the least you could do is plan your next days activities before going to bed.
- Involve Referrals and Friends: I have always found that I am more effective in achieving my goals when I involve others. So I think it is a good idea to take the Challenge along with friends so that you can motivate each other in reaching the goals. If you can involve your own referrals it would be even better because you can lead your referrals by example and also get a share of your referral impressions.
- Visiting and Commenting on Hubs participating in Challenge : By commenting on the Hubs participating in the hubchallenge can bring traffic to your own hubs and also get an idea of what others are writing and their progress in the Challenge.
- Smart Usage of Keywords and Revenue Capsules: I don’t think that I am qualified enough to talk on the subject of keywords. But those who optimize their keywords have told me that it has given them increased earnings. But I have never been the type who is much bothered about keywords. I write on a flow and only ensure that I don’t do a keyword stuffing. Using the google adwords keyword tool might be a good idea. Also don’t forget to monetize the hub with relevant products of eBay and Amazon.
- Share the Hubs on other Networks: After publishing the hub share the hub on networks like Face book, My Space, twitter etc to bring in more traffic to your hubs. Personally I have never bothered much about sharing the hub in Digg, stumble upon etc but have seen several who get huge traffic because of that. After all, any traffic is good traffic. Make sure you promote your hubs through RSS Capsules, friendship sites, blogs, forums etc.
Finally a word to those participating in the HubChallenge : If nothing else happens atleast this is going to be a learning experience for you regarding which topics work and which does not when you are going to write a 100 hubs.
I am sure that there might be more things one can do to get the best out of the HubChallenge which I may not have written here or ignored. Please feel free to add them through your comments. If you are not already a hubber there is no better time to start than when all the excitement is on. Sign up by following this link. I wish all the best for all those who are participating in the Challenge.

I have just published my first here in China, Anamika! Great tips by the way!
Thanks a lot for visiting the hub cindyvine and all the best for you for the challenge.
How much money would I make?
Thanks for visiting Writer Rider. I or anyone else can't guarantee on how much you would earn. But normally it is noticed that the more content you have the more are your chances to earn money online.
Yes, yes and yes! And also time management is the most important thing for me since I am going to have to do this in between work and healing sessions. :-) To your next 100 hubs...wow!
Thanks for the visit and good wishes ripplemaker. Time management is what i meant when i wrote sticking on to the plan of action.
Nice hub best of luck - I'm doing it too - but not as this user - started a new one to see how that goes
Hey! Thanks Lissie. May I know your new user name?
Great advice and good luck with your challenge -- I know that I'm going to need it, too!!
Also, be sure to keep us all updated over here in the forums: http://HubPages.com/HubChallenge
Thanks Ryan! All the best for the challenge and hope to see you emerging as a winner.
I didn't realize it started already... I was waiting until 12p EST! Time to get to work! I'm using this profile and another one to experiment a little. Best wishes!
Funny ripplemaker mentioned time management because that is an area I am focusing on in my life right now! The HubChallenge came along and I think it will be fun fitting it into my schedule and helping me better manage my time.
Thanks for the tips, I'm not so sure if I can do 100hubs in 30days because it took me 2days to finish just 1,but I will try. I'll just tell my baby to prepare her food and daily necessities all by herself, haha just kidding.
Well, Ryan mentioned in the Forum that everyone can start the challenge at 11th May which ever part of the World you belong to. So I published my first hub at 1:15 AM and this is my second one.
Thanks for the comments belief713, Time Management and Charia Samher. Wish you all the best for the Challenge.
This challenge should be very worthwhile - good luck!
I hope so too. Thanks for the comment Choke Frantic!
I am not ready for the challenge, but this hub is very encouraging. Excellent tips and guiding tools. Good luck with your magic number.
Hi Anamika,.. Great tips,..I hope you reach your goals,..I too have takin the 100 hub challenge, I just hope I make it to the finish line.
Great info and strategy. Good luck on the hub challenge.
Thanks for leading the way...Great info and inspiration..
crazybeanrider : It does not matter even if you are not participating. U can cheer us all. Thanks for visiting.
Army Infantry Mom, KwameG, Raven King : All the Best with the challenge. I hope you would do good too. And thanks for your encouraging comments.
Thanks Anamika for the great tips - we'll all be needing them!
You've shared some excellent advice here, Anamika. Thanks! I need to "expand my comfort zone" a bit and try that last one, I think. I'm going for the 30-hubs "lite" version of the challenge. Good luck to you, you brave soul! ;-)
Shalini Kagal and Your TouristGuide : Thanks for the visit and nice words. I wish you all the best with the Hub Challenge.
Can you start at anytime or did you have to start on the 11th, inspired by this!
You can start today also only u have to use the hubchallenge banner a hubchallenge tag on hubs. If you do a proper planning nothing is impossible. I hope to see you coming out as winner. All the best!
Good Luck to you Anamika! For me HubChallenge is not so much about money as it is about really the challenge. I still don't know if I can do it. I do the same thing you advised and try to do 4-5 hubs a day. I'm grateful to Hup for this, because I was just about to stop hubbing when I got the newsletter. I was thinking about whether I could do it all day yesterday and then I decided to finally pick a fight with my own laziness.
how much do you earn in hubpages anamika...
That is a personal question which i would prefer not to answer. If you are wondering you can earn or not there are plenty of hubbers who have discussed it and even revealed their earnings here . For me Hubpages accounts for almost 50% of my Adsense earnings. It also has added to my ebay and amazon earnings.
Thanks for the visit quit.smoking.
Your information about hubbing and how to increase traffic is much appreciated. I have new hubs out, but am not generating enough traffic. Will add a few other social sites... Thanks for your advice.
Good luck - if you get nothing out of HubChallenge, its more information on what topics work, what keywords work, and more practice writing. ;)
Thanks for the visit stephicks68, you got a point there.
Anamika, its heartening to hear that another Indian has made money on hubpages. I still have not a cent to show for my hubs. But as I joined hubpages more to built an online portfolio I have met my goal. Still it was interesting to read your hub.
Maybe i ought to do something about the challenge as well? I believe there is a 30 hubs in 30 days challenge out there too?
Yes, There is 30 Hubs in 30 days Challenge too. Thanks for the visit.
I wish you the very best of luck in the challenge. I'm new to the hubsphere and I'm taking up the challenge too. It has been really fun so far.
Yan
Thats d determination ... Kudos for that.
I may not be able to go for this...due to personal reasons...but i would be happier if some newbie gets benefitted from the hubs i just published and even participates in this challenge
http://hubpages.com/hub/hubpages-for-dummies-A-to- Part 1
http://hubpages.com/hub/Hubpages-for-Dummies-A-to- Part 2
& the part 3 is on the way.
Cheers :)
Great advice, and that's the steps I'm following too. I hadn't ever done the keyword optimization, so I'm using it now just for the tags on each of my hubs. I also went back through some of my older hubs and changed the tags using the keyword tool you linked, and am seeing good results as well as increased views.
Good luck with the 100! I'm doing 30.
