Turn problems and setbacks into more clicks!

I was trying to resolve a problem when I got this fantastic idea. When I write something I often write too much, too many topics, and too many separate focuses on the same topic. Now this is ok, as it's expansive and informative however when I tried to make my hub on Decoding Love I ran into a problem. Just the Infrastructure hub was 36 pages deep in word!

Usually I would just find a way to shorten it. This time I decided to convert the series (there are 9 other hubs on this topic that make up a series) into several hubs but still each individual hub is way too big.

It hit me when I started to add headers in my writing as a suggestion I heard on the forum, a way to break up the paragraphs and topics better. I noticed that when I did this I wrote more focused on what the header was about and usually didn't "color outside the lines" too much. Although the 2 pages or so of each header did flow from one topic into the next on the same subject, the topics are pretty much focused content on a segment, or fragment if you will on one topic.

So I got this idea. Why not just segment THIS into several hubs to keep it shorter and more focused as well? This idea is the solution, as I'm noticing most hubs are only 2 pages or so typed. But what I realized next was that this resolved another curiosity I had about making money with the hubs.

In hub pages as you know we get 60% of impressions so 40% go to hub pages. Well if I wrote a long 36 page hub and published it like that, some readers would enjoy it and appreciate it all being in one place, however others would see the length and think wow I'll never get through this and I may lose readership. As they read the shorter hubs they would possibly get excited about the information and check out the other pieces of the story.

Their was one more nice surprise that hit me before it was all said and done.. If I published the one long hub I get a chance at 60% of the impressions getting clicks hence earning me money. If I segment the hub into several 2-4 page typed hubs (with pictures etc..) I can turn this 36 page hub into 15 or so hubs (I could add to a topic if its not enough info).. and this gives me 15 times the exposure and more ads are placed overall and clicks being a numbers game anyway have more of a chance of coming to me.. This helps me AND hub pages make more potential money.

I wrote a bunch of articles for my product line years ago. My niche was to not only sell my self help CD's but to teach people in the ad itself how to for example gain high self esteem, how charisma worked and so on. I figured if they didn't buy from me they at least walked away with a gift of information. Often times though because of the information, they understood how it worked and wanted the CD because they wanted faster results so it worked out well for me.

I was always told my ads were lengthily but highly informative, and I got a lot of great feedback on how they really did teach something. I had them for all 40 CD's in various areas of self help, and I worked on them, edited, rewrote with feedback from my customers and so on so their pretty much editorially ready. I have since taken the business down but always wondered how I could bank on these lessons I wrote and one day thought I'd just create a book and sell it with all these interesting topics that I called the circle of life. But now I realize I can publish them on hubpages.com (just take the commercial parts out of which there were few) and recycle all those hours of work. Some are so long they would need to be segmented into several hubs, like Luck generator where I explain how luck works.

My point here is that if you ever wrote something and it was valuable information you can spruce it up and post it as a hub, even a poem you wrote a girl, as I've written several and am finding them on my back up drive (I save everything ). I derive a lot of inspiration to write from my daily life, so if you get writers hub you should constantly write down topics that you come across in places you'd not of thought of before.

So this is a valuable habit for hub writers! Have a great day, may all your hubs earn you lots of clicks!

I like the paragraphs - now you could try using heading styles - to break it up make it easier to scan, and the google bots know the headers are important words!

I appreciate this advice, as I was contemplating similar thoughts. I tend to write epistles. LOL I know it is better to keep things fairly brief. Than can be challenging when you have so much you want to communicate.

I like the series idea. Kenny does this and it seems so well organized. He keeps his hub brief, tidy, visually pleasing and most important, informative. I find that I am lifted by his content and am ready to click the next... He is a good example of what you are saying here.

Thanks again.
