The Original Hubpages Logo

Hi my name is Jimmy and I am a Hubaholic!

It started just over a year ago, I was innocently searching the Internet for a site I could write a blog on, when my browser directed me to a site called hubpages.com. "Write on any topic under the sun and make money at the same time", with promises of an easy to use page interface, instant readership and the service being totally free I decided to give it a try.

It took me 15 minutes to publish my first hub page, http://hubpages.com/hub/THE_JOCK_SPOT

And within 10 minutes of my first page being published people started to comment and give me useful votes on my page.

I couldn't believe it, People were actually reading something that I wrote, commenting on it and saying that it was useful information. This was pushing all of the right buttons and boosting my delicate ego and self esteem.

After publishing my first hub I signed up for Ad sense, Commission Junction and Amazon this only took another 10 minutes and I became a fully-fledged hubpages author.

I was hooked, I wrote another hub and another and another, almost every thought I had turned to hubpages, what would I write about today? I wonder if so and so has published a new hub, etc etc.

If I wasn't writing a hub I was reading another hubbers page, commenting and leaving my two cents worth, and strange as it may seem I began to see everyone on hubpages as part of an extended family, we shared the good times and the bad, we laughed and cried together and we all supported each other and were there to help when needed.

After about a month I was checking my ad sense earnings and found that someone had clicked on one of my page ads and that I had earned 11cents from Google. That was a shocker someone had actually clicked on one of my ads. From that moment on I considered myself to be a paid author, even though it was only 11 cents I had made money from my writing, I haven't looked back since then I now have a regular monthly income from hubpages, not a fortune though but a nice little boost to my income.

Even though I was already hooked on hubpages, the hubpages team kept giving out little treats to make hubpages even better, this is ongoing and I can hardly wait to see the next new idea that comes to fruition.

Since the launch hubpages have undergone a complete face lift, they have added a news capsule, forums, rss feeds, fans and most recently still in the testing stage Hubtivity.( a running log of what's happening on HubPages with you and the authors (and soon, tags) that you are a fan of.)

And I am sure there is much more to come in the near future.

1 Year later and I am still addicted, I feel guilty if I don't check in to hubpages at least once a day, I get withdrawal symptoms and I go into a cold sweat if I don't publish a hub within a week, hubpages is highly addictive beware it doesn't take over your life.

My name is jimmy and I am a hubaholic, I have written over 500 hub pages that is my story, now we will go around the table for yours ........jimmy

What I find amusing is that "aholic" has become the accepted ending for words meaning "addict," when in fact, that "ahol" comes from "alcohol." We should really be chocolatics, sexics, and Hubics, if we're gonna go there.

I've been seriously working on my blogs and sites for the last month or so. I found HP in the process and thought it could be useful for cross-promtion but liked the user interface too and nice of community of people. Now I have been paid for a flagship hub and I spend almost all of last night up checking stats because suddenly I had over 200 views on a couple of hubs and now I see my own sites traffic rocketing! I am a hubaholic and I don't care!
