Hubbing for money
TIRED OF THE CONMEN
Sick and tired of the scammers and conmen who would sell their granny for a profit, I have decided to come clean and tell you how much I make a month on hubpages and which type of hubs I make the most money from, the honest truth and I wont be charging a single cent for any of this information.
Let me add that nine times out of ten I do not write for the purpose of making money I write because I want to, hubpages gives me a chance to write about things I love and money isn't even in my thoughts when I write them.
I do try to write a couple of hubs a month with the intent of getting clicks for money and I do make some money from them.
Hubbing For Money
I have written 552 hubs to date this one when published will be 553, and it may come as a surprise to you that I make money from less than 10% of those hubs.
Having published so many hubs it is difficult to keep track of which hubs are making money and which ones aren't because you are only allowed 200 channels on Google, but Google is not the only advertiser that you can use on hubpages, Ebay and Amazon are also available for making a little bit more, not as much as Google but every little bit helps and it isn't hard work to add the capsules to your pages.
How do I keep track?
I change my URL channels on a regular basis I have 20 to 30 showing at a time and I compare what I make from those channels with my overall daily earning report. I may make $2.00 from my url channels in a day and $5.00 from the ones I have not added to channels.
So Jimmy, what hubs do you make money from?
Ok let us cut to the chase, this is the part that you have all been waiting for.
I wont name the hubs but I will name the types of hubs that I earn the most revenue from.
Beauty products
Anti aging cream and beauty product reviews around $10.00 a month
Reality TV
In the UK at the moment I'm a celebrity get me out of here is in full swing I am updating the page every day and I have made almost $20 dollars this month from it. When the show finishes next week I expect the earnings to stop until next year when I update it for 2008.
My series on world war 1
brings in a regular income of approximately $10-15 a month.
Also my series of hubs related to teen romance advice nets me about the same.
The four seasons
A mixture of hubs seasonal e.g Christmas, Easter and other special event days bring in an income when the time of year comes around.
Some hubs bring money all year round whilst others are seasonal.
News events
These were an unwanted source of income and also a very unexpected source of income, I tried to put the ads to low in the options menu but when I saw that they were directing people to sympathetic sites I changed them to high. Help find Madeleine and Man arrested in Madeleine case have made me more money than any other hubs I have written an I am so not proud of that fact.
The rest of the money I make is from other random hubs a few cents from this hub and a few cents from that because I have so many it is difficult to say which ones exactly that the clicks come from.
Don't rely too much on Google trends, Ebay pulse or, Yahoo buzz to make money from hubpages, these statistics are mainly short lived and only last a day or 2 before the traffic sources dry up ending your chance of any earnings.
How much do I make on hubpages ?
My earnings will come as a shock to most hubbers who know me because they think I make a lot more.
It varies from month to month, but my Adsense earnings are usually between $120.00 and $150.00 a month.
From Ebay I earn between $3-5 a month
On Amazon I earn between £3-5 which works out at around $7.00 a month.
I have all of my account payments on hold at the moment and letting the earnings build up for a while.
My three children will be in for an extra special surprise when I do decide to cash it in.....jimmy

What is an URL and how or where will I find reference to them?
I endeavoured to join another Hub producer this morning and it kept asking for my URL. Are you able to explain all this language to me Please.
Incidentally, I use to sell Gidgets for 13c per day. It Gave me a Volvo 6 cylinders car, which I Paid off in 6 months: Sent me to Hawaii twice and all over Australia and New Zealand. I was never home, but you can not have everything in life. Good hub. Who Cares about money. You need it, but should not chase it. Glory is better. They remember you longer

I started writing on the internet with the aim of making money but have found most promises are hollow - the nice thing about HubPages is that I've finally found a place where I can really enjoy creating Hubs instead of it being a chore - so the money suddenly isn't so important. Very useful, and thanks for sharing this! What you say here very much bears out my experience with writing on the Internet... the claims of "$1000s" are mostly empty promises. The only exception I can think of would be the early days of epinions.com, before they figured out that paying people 10 cents per page view was complete insanity... ah, those were the days, and there WERE people making $8000 a month. But this is now.

This is a good conversation. I have almost 150 Hubs and make between $40-60 in Adsense. Here's the thing - I just write. I have not yet attempted to master SEO. It's on the list for 2008. I try to learn from Maddie Ruud because she does so well! Because let's face it, money is nice!
I'll be honest, when I found HubPages, I was looking for a way to make money. But, as I started writing, I noticed that even though I wasn't making a lot, I was happier and more fulfilled because I am now doing something I've dreamed about all of my life - writing and being read. To me that's worth more than money. (But of course when it comes, [the money], I sure won't turn it down!

Huppages is a way to vent and teach and hey if you make a buck even better. I did not know how hard it was to put thoughts on paper until I tried. It is more of a job than working in an office. But it is fun and informative. You give me hope on the money making aspect, I wish you the best of luck.

Kontera is another ad revenue site, sign up and add your code like you did with google ,ebay and Amazon, they put text ads on your pages with a double underline that you can only see when you are signed out of your hubpages account. check the hubpages thread in the forums for more info.....jimmy

I only joined recently and am still trying to understand the options for boosting income prospects.
My motivation is to share my knowledge and experience. But making a good income will let me do, full time, what I enjoy: research, discover new things and pass on what I find to others.
It seems clear however that getting an income from writing like this requires a determination to settle for the long haul and I am mentally composing hubs with this in mind.
Its an eye opener, thanks for sharing the facts. This is a true picture. I have been with many programs and realized that making money from internet too needs constant efforts.
Reaching first payout is not an easy task and can take from months to years, people often ignore this fact and later blame others.
On the other hand I've seen some aggresive marketers, who are really making good money online, I know one who makes approx. $100 a day that to from only one blog that he writes and maintains everyday.
Actually he is an expert in his field and is very helpful, so his readers are his followers and his blog ranks on top for many keywords.
jimmy, its always nice to come across a hubber that seems so far along, compared to me with only 40 hubs. Thank you for sharing this information with us and being an honest person!
Clearly making money from Hub pages is a long term process. Money is nice and my motive is to be able to use the income to let me research and write or take photographs full time. How do you research the first world war by the way. There is a lot that happened between 1914 and 1938 that holds lessons for us today.
