Loving HubPages, What if I link a Hub to my Hubs?
I have quickly become addicted to hubpages.com, I think I may becoming a hub junkie. Although I read quite a bit about people who complain about having hundreds and hundreds of hubs and making only a dollar or two a day, I must be the luckiest (surely not the smartest) hubber alive. In 5 weeks, I have almost $500 in adsense earnings, almost exclusively from hubpages.
I hit hub lotto, when my hub about the new Bush Tax Rebate Plan hit #1 (and stayed there) on Yahoo (3 days before it was yahoo #1 hottest search). Now it is appearing on Googles first page for searches like "2008 Rebate". Take a look at the stats, I'm talking about 132,000 page-views.
Also got lucky when I picked the Super Bowl 42 winning Giants in a hub around 3 weeks prior to the game being played. Again I found my hub picked up very high on google, yahoo, and MSN.
The power and page rank of sites like hubpages, squidoo, and qassia (pretty new, got 14 referrals mostly due to my hub) is truly incredible. I'll be honest, I barely know what I'm doing and do not claim by any stretch to be an "SEO" expert, in fact, I'm sure this has been done before. But I can find it, so I'll try it anyway. What happens if I create a HubPages Hub linking to my Hubs? What if any impact will this have on the search engine results of my existing, already indexed HUBs?
If I create a Hub linking to my other hubs, will the links be effective with limited content regarding the links? I will add some comments about certain links and report my findings, as to if these hubs had any additional, if any impact from the short comments I make below the links.
Guess I'll find out, If your interested in learning the results, please leave me a comment on the hub and check back. I will without a doubt update this Hub often, as I am very interested to see if there is any SERP, SEO, or overall search engine result impact from my HUB of HUBS.

2008 looks like it may be the toughest year in a long time for the Stock Markets around the world. Not just the Nasdaq and Dow Jones averages, but the Nikkei, the Hang Seng, and the Indian Sensex as well. After reading up and watching the videos of Mohamed al-Fayed, there is no question in my mind that Princess Diana and Dodi al-Fayed were murdered by the royal family. OK....Links and Keywords in place for my Hub of Hub link test. Now its up to the search engine gods. Google, Yahoo, and MSN will let us know if this has any impact at all, or if I wasted 40 minutes. But like most of my online activities, I am having a bit of fun and learning as I go. Much like the Stock Market and Forex makets, I get to compete with the biggest brains in the world. The nice thing is my little SEO contests don't cost me nearly as much as my early lessons in the Stock and Currency Markets.

I'm sure there's a better way to do it, but since I couldn't figure one out, I put up a free blogger from blogger. Added Adsense code to that basically empty, unseen blog. That's why I said "almost" exclusively, maybe the blog got a click or two.

With your experiment on linking hubs I wish you hadn't put so many links and just made a test for your bad performing hubs because if there are so many outgoing links in a page then it is less effective.

The puzzling thing is, according to SEObook's stats, there are only 11 searches a day on "2008 Tax Rebate Plan" in Google. So, I'm wondering just how all your traffic is coming in. I would suggest you use Google analytics as well. You can set it up through hubpages. This will tell much more precisely where the traffic is actually coming from and what keywords they are using to find you. If there are only 11 searches a day on "2008 Tax Rebate Plan" your traffic has to becoming from somewhere else.

Google analytics shows me getting single hits from around 300 different variations of "Bush Tax rebate", "2008 rebate", etc. The majority of my visits are coming from yahoo, there have been a few days where "2008 Tax Rebate Plan" was listed on Yahoo's Home Page (bottom right) Hot Searches, that generated about 50,000 hits.

Hm... I'm a little iffy. You may have earned $500 in 5 weeks, but those topics seem pretty much on key to top news. They're not evergreen topics that will be searched throughout the year, only on that one occassion that has passed. For instance the superbowl 08 hub you mentioned; I doubt that one will be a big earner next superbowl or even now few weeks after superbowl.
The Tax rebate won't be as big of a hit, once the rebates have all been passed out.
That's just from what I've seen on websites and hubs posting current news. The topics may be earners short term, but I'm looking for long term. I'm making $100 a month from hubpages alone, and I'm hoping to keep with that or better it with more topics that are searchable year- round and after big events.

You may be right, but if you liken hubs to the bond market, you may see my strategy. You will find that 30 year government bonds are guarenteed to pay you back, although your interest rate would be very low. Whereas, if you invest in high-yield bonds, some will go out of business and never pay you back, but the winners will more than compensate for the losers. Over a 30 year period (long term), the high yield bonds have historically offered a higher yield.
But hey, different ideas are what make the world so interesting.
