What is a Humidor?

Purchasing and collecting high-end cigars takes knowledge, experience, and money. After investing your money in the perfect cigar, you cannot store it in your shirt pocket for later. A humidor is the ideal place to store cigars, regardless of how much money you spent on them. A humidor will prevent cigars from drying out and becoming brittle. As the name suggests, this is done by maintaining a level of humidity inside the box (70% is ideal).

Why Elie Bleu?

Elie Bleu is a well-known French maker of humidors. Not only will these humidors keep your cigars in prime condition for later consumption they are works of art in their own right.

The Marquetry humidor uses African wenge wood as the base and straw is inlaid on the lid to make the contrasting sunburst design. It is lined with cedar (a material found in all humidors for its preservation qualities) and has a removable tray and dividers.

As all Elie Bleu products, it is hand-crafted in France. This humidor can be purchased for $1985 USD. Dimensions: 13" X 6" X 10"

This humidor is made from sycamore and is stained four contrasting colors that are carried up from the sides and end in four squares on the lid. This pictures shows two of the components that are inside of all quality humidors:

• Humidification Unit - regulates the amount of humidity inside the box by housing the object that holds moisture - in most cases this is a sponge
• Hyrdometer - detects the amount of humidity

This humidor that is a tribute to Che Guevara and retails for $2900 USD. Dimensions: 10" X 10" X 5.5"

A humidor with some flair and a tip of the hat to Las Vegas. Made in the shape of a large die of tan sycamore with black mother of pearl inlays placed in the dots. As you can see in the picture, the humidor comes with a key to keep expensive cigars secure (this humidor can hold 100 of them). The key comes complete with a miniature die on a chain. Two removeable cedar trays are included.
