Hunter College, One Student's Experience
70Hunter College -- View of Bridges Connecting West and East Wings
Library Experience
This is my third college experience in fourteen years. I have gone to Brooklyn College, Kingsborough Community College and now I am at Hunter College which is not my last. Experiencing library life in all of them I have come to the honest conclusion, Hunter College has the best looking library. It seems to be fairly new or renovated. Library is very accessible from all wings inside the campus, which is convenient when it is a winter time. Staff is student friendly and helpful at times. It has plenty of materials needed for students to succeed in their careers, a lot of students come from other colleges to use our Hunter College library, because we have very extensive research library material especially for students pursuing health majors.
Why or why not Hunter College
Hunter College is part of the CUNY system, that system connects public colleges in five boroughs of New York City. Main Hunter College campus is located in uptown Manhattan on 68 Street and Lexington Avenue. If you are interested in college history press this link " Hunter College History" . Why would you be interested in applying to Hunter College? Hunter College is the top college in health related majors. Hunter College also has a good School of Social Work and Physical Therapy school. Another good reason to apply would be tuition, after all it is a CUNY school and that means tuition is not as high as in any private or SUNY school. Why wouldn't you go to Hunter College? Even though Hunter College concedered a very prestige school in a CUNY system it doesn't have all of the credentials of any private school. People graduating from Hunter College would not have the same opportunity as people graduating from Long Island University or Hofstra University which are private schools also standing as top schools for health related majors. Nevertheless including Hunter College in your resume when you graduate from nursing school, or physical therapy school at Hunter College gives you more opportinity to land a good job then for example graduating with the same degree from other CUNY schools.
Professors, Professors, Professors
I had an experience with two professors at Hunter College. I have been attending Hunter College only for a year, most of my credits transferred from my other two colleges and I have taken only two classes at Hunter College which were introduction to statistics and intro to chemistry. I mostly remember my intro to chemistry professor Namby Krishnamachari. You can love this professor or hate him, but I was so captivated hown open and honest he is. He knew that he has an accent and he said it himself that he has one and a lot of students complaining about it, nevertheless he would write such good notes that you didn't need an explanation even for the slides that he used to conduct his class. He was rude sometimes to some of the students, once I remember we were taking an exam and he would put all exams in order from A to D, one student had exam A and I think she put to D instead of A he called her stupid. He reminded me of one professor from my Kingsborough Community College, he was anatomy and physiology professor his name was prof: Pilchman a tough cookie, but I was captivated by his knowledge of the subject and also his note writing. I strongly believe that professor must be tough and have a vast knowledge of the subject, but at the same time be honest and fair in grading system. If you want to find information on any professor and see what people say about their professors go to that wesite "RATE MY PROFESSOR".
