Actor Will Smith is taking on a new movie project that tells the story of a real-life Hurricane Katrina hero.  According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Smith's Overbrook Entertainment is teaming up with Sony Pictures to produce the film titled "The American Can."  The story of John Keller will be told, an ex-Marine who lived in an apartment building in New Orleans during the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster.  Keller was dubbed the "Can Man" after he helped protect his building of about 244 elderly residents from the chaos erupting in the city.  He also directed the rescue operation from the building's roof.  Columbia's Doug Belgrad said in a statement that this is a story they want to tell.  He added, quote, "This is the story of an everyman who became a hero."
