Hyderabad combination of old and new

Hyderabad, one of the oldest city in India and southern part of India, which is combination of old and new city. We can find art of olden days (golden days) and posh areas of new era. hyderabad is 400 years old city which is landscap of food, pearls, old monuments, populated streets and so. Hyderabad was ruled by richest royal, Nizams, which is one of the largest and wealthiest city in India, city was built with pearls, gold, diamonds, and fiber. Most important thing is the precious kohinoor diamond is from golconda. Hyderabad was found in 16th century by Qutab Shahi dynasty, Nizams ruled Hyderabad until 1948 later merged with Indian union.

Golconda Fort

Golconda is one of the most amazing and beautiful monument, which is located 11 kms away from Hyderabad, capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The name Golconda was derived from two Telugu (one of the regional language of India) words, "golla" and "konda" which means shepherds hill. the construction of fort was done in two phases, first the golconda fort was built in 13th century by Kakatiya kings, the existing fort was built by Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shahi Wali over the period of 62 years with granite walls having eight gates and 87 bastions spread upto 7 kms. The fort is designed in such a manner which a hand clap sounded at the fort's main gates, the grand portico, was heard at the top of the citadel, situated on a 300 foot (91 m) high granite hill, which is one of the fascinating features of the fort.

Attractions within the fort is Taramathi gana mandir and Premathi Nritya mandir which was built on two sisters. Acoustics which is one of the most exiting feature of fort, the sounds of hand clapped at entry gate can be clearly heard by top of the fort which is 1 km away. Sound and Light show is also one of the attraction, which tells the history of fort by audio and visuals, voice was given by Bollywood living legend Amithab Bachan. Show can be watched in Telugu, Hindi, English.

Charminar

Charminar one of the major landmark in Hyderabad. It is famous for unique architecture, which was built by Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 shortly after shifting capital from Golconda to Hyderabad which is present city. In one form Charminar is signature of Hyderabad. The name charminar is deriver from "char" means four and "minar" means towers. The reason behind contruction which is very much valid is the elimination of plague disease from this city. 

Charminar is also known as "The Arc de triumph of the East", the height of each tower is 48.7 mts. Charminar is famous for bangles. 

  • Visiting time : All weekdays (except monday) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Entry fee: 5 Rs for Indians (adults) 100 Rs for Foreign citizens

Qutb Shahi Tombs:

Qutub Shahi Tombs are located quite close to Golconda Fort, where we can find seven tombs of Qutb Shahi rulers as major. Qutub Shahi tombs architecture is combination of Indian and Persian culture. perhaps this the only place in the world where we can find so many toms in one place as a monument. Among all tombs, the founder of Hyderabad, Mohammed Quli Qutub Shahi, the fifth king of Qutub Shahi dynasty, which raised to 42.5 mts with large dome and 28 open arches.

In simple words this monument is splendid work of art and beauty, the number of tombs of royal family members laid beautifully surronded by greenry.

Opening Time: every day in a week except friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

Salar Jung Museum:

Salar Jung museum located on southern banks of musi river in Hyderabad, which is third largest museum in India and biggest one man collection museum in the world and largest single collection of antiques in the world assembled by Salar Jung III. It has one million objects, 50000 books and manuscripts. museum contains 38 (20 in ground floor and 18 in first floor) galleries.

The collections include Inian art, Europen art, Eastern art (middle and far), children art, along with rare Indian manuscript. Indian art includes stone sculpters, ivory carving, wood carving, textiles with painting, modren art, arms, armour, bronze images and etc. Oil and water paintings are most important parts in european art, Middle eastern art (from Persia, Arabia, Syria, and Egypt) includes collection of furniture, glass, carpets, manuscripts, metal ware and so. Far eastern art majorly contains enamel, embroidery, painting, inlay work etc.

some of the attractions are big clock from which small soilder will come out from top of the clock to gong the bell as many times as the hour, Tipu Sultan chair, dressing table belongs to Marie-Antoinette (Queen of France), famous statue of Veiled Rebecca done by G.H. Benzoni (an Italian sculptor) in 1876, and many more which cant be expressed in words.

India Parliament declared Salar Jung museum as Institution of national importance.

  • Entry Fee: 10 Rs (Adults), 5 Rs for Indians, 150 Rs for foreign visitors, 50% concession for students with valid ID card.

Mecca Masjid:

One of the oldest and biggest mosques in Hyderabad, this was constructed during the period of Sultan Muhammed Qutub Shahi, 6th sultan of Hyderabad. Construction started in 1617 and completed in 1694. Part of mosque has bricks brought from holy city Mecca and are placed in the central arch.

Muhammed Qutub Shahi invited all religious leaders in the city for foundation stone and announced foundation stone will be laid by one who ever missed their prayer with irrespective of their religion. None came forward and therefore Muhammed Qutub Shahi laid foundation stone, since the age of 12 he never missed the prayer.

Nehru Zoological Park:

Nehru Zoological park is largest zoo in Hyderabad, established in 1963 and named after first prime minister of India. It spread around 3000 acres of land which is around 1.2 km2 and has wide selection of animals which is around 1500 species of birds and animals. Zoo runs every day safaris like Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari, and Butterfly Safaris. Elephant ride is one of the attractions for the zoo.

It has different species like Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Zebras, American bison, Antelopes, Black buck, Chousingha, Chinkara, Deer, Sambhar, Brow Antler Deer etc and snakes like hooded Indian Cobra, Russels Viper, Giant rock-python, tree snakes etc, we can see Indian and African Lions, Tigers, Panters, wolves, jackals, hyenas and many more.

  • Entry Fee: adults - 5 Rs, child - 2 Rs, Loin safari-- adults - 8 Rs, child - 4 Rs

Tank Bund:

Hussain Sagar lake is otherwise called as Tank Bund, is reputed as one of the largest man made lake in the Hyderabad, it constructed in 1562 during Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shahi period, which connects twin cities (Hyderabad and Secundarabad). This is one of attractions for city, we can see lots of people in the evening and weekends. Center of the lake there is monolithic Buddha statue, which is made by white granite, this is the largest single stoned statue in the world which is 16 mts tall with 350 tonnes of weight. Water sports and Boating are carried out every year in this lake. Every year 10K run held around the Tank Bund.

Lot more places are there around Tank Bund, one is Necklace Road the reason for the name is it looks like necklace for the city, in necklace road we Eat street, water games, fun game and more. NTR gardens one of the big parks in city, Lumbini park has laser show and some more fun games.

Birla Mandir:

Birla Mandir is magnificent Hindu temple of Lord Venkateswara, entirely with white marble. Same kind of Temples was constructed in some more cities of India by Birla Foundation. It took 2000 tons of pure white marble which are imported from Rajastan (state in India which is famous for Marbles). It took 10 years to complete the temple construction and the architecture is combination of south India, Rajasthani and Utkala Temple. Temple is built on 280 feet high hillock in 13 acres of land.

From temple we can have overview of souhern side of Hussian sagar which is please to see and magnificiant view of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in lights.

Ramoji Film City (RFC):

Ramoji Film City is the largest integrated film city in world, which got place in Guinness book. Film city is located 25 kms away from Hyderabad city on NH9 and spread over 2000 acres of land with the combination of natural and artificial attractions. It was opened in 1996, today's first choice for film producers is RFC, the reason is everything at one point with latest technology which have village set to western set. It contains 50 studio floors and over 500 set locations, pre-product resource to post product resource, lot of gardens. RFC can handle 20 international and 40 Indian films at a time, this is main reason to attract not only Indian producers and also international producers.

For visitors RFC will provide bus trip including guide, cost includes in ticket which brought at entrance. It has various gardens which covers from Japanese to Indian Tea gardens, it also have Ajanta and Ellora caves and slums , south Indian village set to north Indian set. It has UK streets, Mughal gardens, Mysore Virindvan gardens, schools, railway stations, temples and more. some sets are used for multiple purpose like from one side it looks like church and from one view airport and from other view hospital. RFC has cafe , coffee shop, restaurants, 3 star hotel, 5 star hotels. RFC has one dance and stunt show at 10:30 am and 4:30 pm respectively everyday.

Ticket: adults 200 and child 150 on weekends, adults 150 and child 100 on weekdays

Shilparamam:

It is artificial village which is developed to show the art and crafts of villages, most of them which we cant see now a days. It is located next to Hi-Tech city in Madhapur, it spread around 30 acres of land which contain artificial huts, cows, farmers, fisher mans, utensils used in olden days which wont look like artificial, it looks very natural. It also contains natural lovely rocks, huge greenery, lawns, small ponds and so. Annual art and craft festival held in Shilparamam which is famous and so nice to see different arts and crafts from all over India. This is right place for the people who missed their villages and to find their villages.

  • Timings : 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Entrance Fee: adults-10 Rs, child-5 Rs

Other than this we have lot more ancient building which of some are using as colleges, goverment offices, even Andhra Pradesh assembly building combination of old and new, old one is built by sultans which was used as assembly in yester years and later contructed a new building and shifted to new. I'll provide you some more Pics of Hyderabad. The most important is dont forget to eat Hyderabadi Biryani paradise in secunderabad, bawarchi, greenlands are very famous for biryani, but we can find tasty biryani in allmost all hotels and collect some pearls which is famous in Hyderabad.
