Hydrocodne Addiction Detox

Hydrocodone (Vicodin) addiction can happen rapidly for some people requiring detoxification from the drug.  Hydrocone is an opiate related to heroin and morphine and thus the detox experience is much the same.  If you think you have a dependence or addiction to this drug you need to seek assistance now.  More and more treatment centers and doctors are offering help for people addicted to pain killers because it is becoming such a large problem.  Find out what they have to offer.  Treatment centers usually offer a free consultation so take advantage of that today to start on the path to rid yourself of this dependence.

Hydrocone addiction can occur within one to two weeks of use for some people but it usually takes longer when consumed in normal quantities.  Like other pain killer addictions. Hydrocodone or Vicodin addiction generally affects normal, every day people.  The person has an injury or accident and the drug is prescribed for pain relief.  Since it is an opiate, the drug gives a feeling of euphoria and similar to morphine and heroin.  The body quickly comes to enjoy these feelings and physical and psychological addiction occurs.

If you have been taking pain killers and now you want to stop but can't the best thing to do is talk to your doctor or a treatment center about how they can help you to detox.  You can do it alone but it is much easier with help.

Hydrocodone Withdrawl Symptoms

A person who has been using hydrocodone, the active opiate in Vicodin, for an extended period of time will most likely experience withdrawl sypmtoms upon stopping use of the drug.  The symptoms may start within 6 to 12 hours depending on the severity of the addiction.  How intense the withdrawl symtoms are depends on the degree of the addiciton.  Symtoms are not life-threatening but depending on the severity you may feel like you want to die.

Syptoms usually grow stronger the first twenty-four to seventy-two hours and then they diminish over time with most people reporting an ending to the physical discomfort after five to seven days.

Hydrocodone Symptoms

  • Irritability
  • Craving for the drug
  • runny nose and eyes
  • dilated pupils
  • nausea and or vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • sweating
  • fevers
  • chills
  • yawning
  • inabiltiy to sleep
  • depressed feelings

There may be other symptoms and severity may vary depending on the person going through the withdrawl.

I just learned that in my small town in Oregon the high school kids are starting to smoke Hydrocodone because they get an instantaneous high.  When are we going to start dealing with this problem?  We are losing another generation to drug addiction.

Hydrocodone Addiction Treatment

If you have a strong desire to continue taking this Hydrocodone, also known as Vidocin, or you need to continue to consume the drug to feel normal you are dependant or addicted to the opiates.  You can get off the drug by doing a hydrocodone cold turkey by yourself but it is much easier with the assistance of professionals who can give you the support you will need.

If you are thinking of stopping use of the drug you have taken the first big step.  You know there is a problem and you want to stop living under the shadow of the drug.  The next step is to ask for help and then following through with your desire for a clean life free of the affects of drug addiction.
