With so many people jumping on the teeth whitening wagon, you're bound to have it done yourself at some point in time. Odds are you already know at least a few people who have had it done. The tooth bleaching enhancement is gaining momentum very rapidly now. It's a relatively cheap, safe and affordable procedure that can easily make you look 10 years younger. A shiny, white smile is what everybody wants for him or herself. Scientific studies have found that people with whiter teeth have much more self esteem and confidence than people with yellow teeth. They are also less reluctant to smile and reveal their teeth to the rest of the world. Having your teeth bleached is a good way to enhance your cosmetic looks quickly.

Hydrogen Peroxide Teeth Whitening Treatments

The best tooth whiteners are always the products that rely on hydrogen peroxide to do the actual tooth bleaching. These products are usually whitening kits that you can buy over the counter and use in the privacy and comfort of your own home. There are also cheaper products available that aren't based on hydrogen peroxide to do the tooth bleaching. These are usually the teeth whitening toothpastes, mouthwashes and whitening solution pens. You shouldn't expect a whole lot from a whitening toothpaste or mouthwash. They might refresh your breath and give your teeth a good polishing, but you will never see any decent results from this. The truth is simply that when you want real results, you are going to have to rely on hydrogen peroxide.

Like I said, hydrogen peroxide is what you will find in whitening kits for use at home. These whitening kits come with gels that are based on hydrogen peroxide to perform the actual bleaching process. Hydrogen peroxide works so well because it has oxidizing properties. As soon as it comes into contact with your teeth, it comes into contact with moistness. This sets off a heavy chemical reaction that's going to cleanse your teeth from their stains and yellowness. The dark, yellow stains have piled up in your tooth enamel over the years. This is where they are broken down. The hydrogen peroxide makes your enamel transparent again. This makes your teeth look white again.

Hydrogen peroxide can also damage your enamel. It always damages your enamel just a little bit. You cannot counter this. But a little bit of damage is tolerable, because your enamel will recover. Don't ever apply hydrogen peroxide based gels for too long, because this will damage your enamel beyond repair.
