Save money on gas

Hypermiling can even make fuel-sipping gas-electric hybrid cars more efficient. Here are some Hypermiling techniques that can help you save money on gas.

* Pump up tires to the maximum

* Use engine oil of a low viscosity

* Keep the speed down as much as possible

* Accelerate gently

* Avoid using excessive idling

* Removing cargo racks to also cut down on aerodynamic drag

Some Hypermilers say the technique of "pulse and glide", can get over 100 mpg in Toyota Prius.

To save gas, the "pulse and glide" is a technique in which you accelerate and then coast with the engine off until around 15 mph when you kick the engine back on and accelerate again. It's the automotive equivalent of skateboarding.
