Hypnosis For Health – It’s All Just In The Mind

Healing Hypnosis Is All Just In The Mind!

Although hypnosis has been successful employed for thousands of years as a healing tool, it was dismissed for a long time by modern science as merely an amusing stage trick only good for entertaining. However, within the past 30 years hypnosis has enjoyed a revival in the medical community as its benefits are becoming more measurable.

Although for decades hypnosis was judged to be a stage act and only good for entertainment purposes it has now become a valid medical practise in most western countries. You can get hypnosis sessions free in the UK through their medical National Health Service and they use it to treat migraines, warts, asthma, IBS and other symptoms. They have also used hypnosis as an aesthetic during surgery. American researchers discovered that out of those who used hypnosis to quit smoking more than half were successful. In France hypnosis has been used to lower blood pressure.

There are many popular misconceptions about hypnosis that mainly stem from Hollywood and television. The use of hypnosis is films is almost always for negative or selfish reasons and hypnotists are portrayed as sleazy or evil in their intentions. This has lead many people to believe hypnosis can be used as a mind-altering or brain-washing tool to get them to do things they wouldn't normally do. This is far from the truth. Hypnosis cannot be employed as a brain-washing tool and cannot be used to get someone to do anything that they have not consciously consented to!

However, hypnosis can be used as a powerful and quick method for self change. As long as the subject is willing, almost any change is possible through the use of hypnosis.

Exactly how hypnosis works is not known at this time. However, the effects but psychological and physiological can be measured. Hypnosis creates a state of profound relaxation of mind and body while creating a mental state of heightened alertness and focus - called trance.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all enter into throughout the day. When you listen to a piece of music that captures your full attention, or you read an enjoyable book that engages your imagination you are experiencing a form of self hypnosis! The same is true when you are watching television.

When you enter into a state of hypnosis the mind/body effects are very apparent. Using sophisticated equipment researchers were able to measure the changes in brainwaves that occurred under the influence of hypnosis. Under normal waking conditions we display Delta brainwaves. However, when we enter a hypnotic state our brainwaves change from Delta to Alpha. It has been discovered that the Alpha state makes us very susceptible to suggestions, images and commands making this an ideal state to plant healing, motivational or positive affirmations. As the Alpha state makes it possible to have a direct line of communication with the subconscious part of the mind it is also a very efficient way of discovering emotional issues related to psychological distress.

Because it is the subconscious part of our mind that regulates the body it has been found that hypnosis can be used on some physical ailments as a means for speeding the recovery process also.

At Harvard Medical School they found that broken bones could be healed three weeks quicker than normal through the use of hyspnosis. They also discovered that they could reduce scarring and inflammation through the use of carefully worded hypnotic suggestions.

Because hypnosis can be used to gain communication with the subconscious mind quickly it is a marvellous tool for psychological change. In 1958 The American Medical Association apprioved the use of Hypnosis as a therapeutic tool. Since then it has become firmly rooted in the medical establishment as a powerful tool for treating psychological disorders.

Hypnosis is an excellent tool for psychological disorders and is used to treat many different psychological illnesses. Anxiety, trauma and depression are just a few of the disorders that have been successfully treated with hypnotherapy. Thus it has become a very important tool with self improvement practitioners.

As research into Hypnosis continues who knows what other uses will be found for this wonderful tool.
