Hypoglycemia is a case when there is a small amount of glucose in the blood stream. Glucose is the body's main source of energy, it is important for all the vital activity from cleaning the house to brushing your teeth. Severity of hypoglycemia depends on how fast or low the glucose level in the blood falls. Diabetics sometimes experience hypoglycemia attacks following excessive injection of insulin.

Inadequate diet are the main causes of this disease. This provokes the body to consume a great amount of carbohydrates and sugars. As a consequence, it produces an extra amount of insulin, thus causing an abnormality in the system characterized by a great need to give sugar to the body. A sudden decrease of sugar can cause fainting and a metabolic imbalance. Eat food at the first sign of deficiency. Repeated severe attack of hypoglycemia may cause permanent brain damage.

Symptoms of Hypoglycemia : Graving for sweet food or sugar, Nausea, Constant hunger, Fatigue, Weakness, Eye ache, Migraine, Visual Disturbances, Pains in several part of the body, Reduced verbal and mental abilities, Mental disorder, nervousness and insomnia, Convulsion

Other Causes of Hypoglycemia :

  • Hyperinsulinism - excessive secretion of insulin by the pancreas. The excessive insulin acts to reduce the glucose level in the blood below its normal range.
  • Hereditary
  • Emotional problems
  • Stress
  • Fasting and Exercise
  • Tumors in the pancreas

This is great information about this dis-ease. I have many of these symptoms, too! I was looking up information on it and I found infromation about hypoglycemia diets and what kind of meals we can prepare to help out with the symptoms, as well. Thank you for the extra info, every little bit helps!!
