Who Is Jesus Christ

I have a great love for Jesus Christ. In today's world there is very much confusion about religion and who Jesus Christ is. Many quote scriptures to try tell who he is, but they ignore the scriptures that do not fit with their definitions. I will dedicate this hub to him and explain these things so that everyone can understand the scriptures that reference him, and know who he is.

I Believe In Christ

To start this hub out I will quote the words of a Hymn written by the late Elder Bruce R. McConkie

I believe in Christ; he is my King!
With all my heart to him I’ll sing;
I’ll raise my voice in praise and joy,
In grand amens my tongue employ.
I believe in Christ; he is God’s Son.
On earth to dwell his soul did come.
He healed the sick; the dead he raised.
Good works were his; his name be praised.

I believe in Christ; oh blessed name!
As Mary’s Son he came to reign
’Mid mortal men, his earthly kin,
To save them from the woes of sin.
I believe in Christ, who marked the path,
Who did gain all his Father hath,
Who said to men: “Come, follow me,
That ye, my friends, with God may be.”

I believe in Christ—my Lord, my God!
My feet he plants on gospel sod.
I’ll worship him with all my might;
He is the source of truth and light.
I believe in Christ; he ransoms me.
From Satan’s grasp he sets me free,
And I shall live with joy and love
In his eternal courts above.

I believe in Christ; he stands supreme!
From him I’ll gain my fondest dream;
And while I strive through grief and pain,
His voice is heard: “Ye shall obtain.”
I believe in Christ; so come what may,
With him I’ll stand in that great day
When on this earth he comes again
To rule among the sons of men.

Pre-existance Jesus Christ

To understand Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit we must start in the pre-existence, before this foundations of the world.

In the pre-existence we were all born to our Heavenly Father. He loved us so much he wanted us to be like him. To become more like him we had to both gain a body and develop faith to prove that we would be obedient to him and all righteousness through our own freewill.

To set forth the plan an earth would be organized and we would all go earth to receive bodies and to be tested. This would be sins being committed through the trials. Thus with the sins, we would not be able to return and live with Father. We needed a Savior. Lucifer step forward with a plan that would enslave all, make everyone do good, and with the return he ask for all power and glory. Jesus, the pre-mortal Jehovah, saw the evil in the Lucifer's plan, and with the love he had for us and Heavenly Father, he presented the Plan of Salvation, where he would be a sacrificial lamb and pay the punishment of our sins for us. He would become the mediator between Heavenly Father and us. We would then need to follow his commandments, which would be the same as Heavenly Father's, and all of the glory would be to Heavenly Father. Jehovah was special in Our Father's eyes because he was the first spirit born to Heaven Father. He was literally "The First Born."

Heavenly Father decided on Jesus plan, because it was also the plan he knew to be right. He also, knew that Lucifer's plan was evil. With this, Lucifer rebelled against Heavenly Father. A great war was fought in Heaven where Michael (who later would be Adam) lead us in a fight against Lucifer, which resulted in Lucifer being cast out of Heaven to the earth as a falling star, and to become Satan - the ruler of all evil and the tempter of mankind. One-third of our spiritual brothers and sisters decided to follow Lucifer and was cast out too. They would never receive a body, and their progression to be like Heavenly Father was halted. They did not keep their first estate, so the second would never be added upon them.

With this plan Jesus under the permission, guidance and being given authority from our Heavenly Father lead us in organizing the earth. With this, Jehovah (Jesus) is known as the Creator. With the authority given to him from Heavenly Father, Jehovah was basically given the rights of God. This is also why he is known as "The Father" of this earth. So the scriptures that talk about him being the Father the Creator is true, just as God our Heavenly Father is a Father and a Creator. Jehovah and will and purpose become one with Our Heavenly Father.

Once the earth was organized, he created a body for the great leader, Micheal, and place him on Earth, where he took on the earthly name Adam. And Eve was then created to be a partner, where they were commanded to populate the earth. They were to start the creating of bodies for the all of us spirits in heaven. But in the Garden of Eden they were not able to have children, The Garden of Eve was a perfect place and Adam walked with Heavenly Father and Jehovah there - faith was not needed because of the perfect knowledge of being with Heavenly Father.. In order to have children they would have to leave the perfect world they lived in. Thus the fall of Adam and Eve was necessary so that mankind could develop faith and be tested to be proven worthy. Thus as Adam and Eve become to this understanding, they partook of the the fruit of knowledge after being tempted by Satan. They fell and had to leave the Garden of Eden and enter the world we know today.

Now through out the Old Testament time, Jehovah, which is Jesus, appeared to many prophets. This is why he could literally say "Before Moses was I am." He truly was the God of the Old Testament. He did the perfect will of our Heavenly Father, that his will and Heavenly Father's will was one. And this is probably the main reason for the confusion of him being God and The Father, because actually is in many ways. However he is not Heavenly Father, the Father of our spirits.

Everyone knows Jesus as the Savior, so I do not need to go into that explanation.

Check With Biblical References on Pre-existance

God was used in the plural form in many places of the Bible i.e.. Genisis 1:26 "Let us make man in our image."

God knew Jeremiah before Jeremiah conceived. Jeremiah 1:5 "I before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations" Here God was saying he knew Jeremiah before he was concieved. Of course he know him in the pre-existance. He knew Jeremiah will and faithfulness.

Children of Heavenly Father shouted for joy when Jehovah presented his plan of salvation. Job 38:7 "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"

Lucifer fell from Heaven Isaiah 14:12-13 "12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north."

Jesus tells his desciples he saw the fall of Satan Luke 10:18 "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven."

Satan and his angels were cast out of heaven Revelations 12:7 "7. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

One-third of the angels in Heaven followed Lucifer Revelation 12:4 "And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."

We are the offspring of God Acts 17:28 "28. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God..."

Psalm 82:6 "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."

Checks With Bible References on Jesus Christ

John 1:1-20 "1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2. The same was in the beginning with God. 3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9. Thatwas the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

  • So let's check this out. 1. In the Beginning was the word. Yeah Christ (Jehovah) was in the pre-existence. 2. And yes God was in the pre-existence, too. And Jehovah was given Authority to create, so he is considered a God. 3. All things created by Jehovah. 4 okay, 5. okay, 6. okay, 7. okay, 8. okay, 9 okay, 10. okay. This scripture fits.

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace".

  • The mighty God, The everlasting Father. As Jehovah is the creator, he is the Father of all things. Works.

John 17:21 " That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."

  • This could be looked at two ways, since it is established he could be called the Father, it works
  • Or if you use 2 different personages, the will of Christ is the same as the will of the Father. One in purpose, that if you asked either one, you would get the exact same reply. United together as one in the same cause.

Baptism of Christ: Matt 3:16-17 "16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

  • Christ is physically in the water, God apparently Heavenly Father talks from Heaven, and the Holy Spirit was seen descending. Three distinct personages taking up space in three different location. This works, God the Heavenly Father, Jesus (Jehovah) and the Holy Spirit.

Christ on the Cross right at his death Mark 15:34 "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

  • Here Christ calls the name of God, our Heavenly Father, Eloi, or Eloheim. It does not make sense here, and in any other prayer he offered, that Christ would pray to himself, but rather he prayed to Heavenly Father, a distinct separate entity, God. Same as the Garden of Gethsemane, why would he go and pray to himself. He prayed to God, the Heavenly Father.

So we can see that as more scripture are examined, that one can see that these all fit well.

Jesus is a God

To clarify as mentioned above, Jesus in the Pre-existance name is Jehovah. Heavenly Father give him all the Priesthood rights and power to create the earth, create man and everything on the earth. Also, also the power of life. He basically is a God.  He has had all of the rights, power and authority given to him of the Father.  He was the God of the Jehovah of the Old Testament. Or basically the God of the Old Testament.

He, being a God is being one with the Father. Like as he said that of a husband and wife. that they are to be one, he is one with the father. Two distinct separate personages, i.e. as a wife and a husband, but yet one in the same purpose and works. Jesus said, I do nothing but that which I see my father do.

Jesus - the Son of God

Jesus through out the Bible stated that he was the Only Begotten Son of God. Jesus is a spirit son of Heavenly Father in the pre-existance, same as the rest of us. However, Jesus physically is the only Begotten Son of God.

We learn from the Bible that the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and she was of child of the Holy Spirit. Some how, some way from a method that we cannot comprehend, The Holy Spirit was able to plant the seed of Heavenly Father in Mary and for her to become of Child. From Biology 101 the X chromosomes, of Father was joined with those of Mary to create a child. The Son of God. (This is such a precious and holy subject, I hope that I did it justice, and not be disrespectful about it.) Jesus referenced God as his Father in many places in the Bible.

Some claim the he is of the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit came upon Mary. But he is not referenced as the Son of The Holy Spirit, but rather The Son of God. This just does not fit.

Jesus and The Resurrection.

One of the purposes that Jesus came to earth was to redeem us.   He allowed himself to be sacrificed as a unblemished lamb in order that he would pay the debt of justice for our sins.

The other part, is that he would bring about the resurrection.  We celebrate Easter for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The resurrection means that the body and the spirit are joined back together never to be seperated again.

Jesus did many things to prove to his disciples that lets us know that he was resurrected with a body.  He ate.  The desciples touched him.  He had a body.   And with the resurrection is the restitution of it, it will be made perfect and changed to be immortal - never to die again.

Many claim Jesus does not have a body, so with this claim, they deny the power of the resurrection.  They claim he went through walls and did other things, which a body could not.  This is denying the power of God.  He can do the resurrection, as He could walk on water as a mortal, and ascended into heaven, but yet he does not have the power to appear to people and transport through walls?

are the passages you use for to proves the pre-existence of people really proving this point? or do they actually point to the fact that God is our all knowing creator, who knows us better then we know ourselves?

qwerty, thanks for hubbing by. I have used just the Bible here, I have other references from The Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price, that tells how this is, but for the shake of the people here, I used just the Bible, but you have brought up the point that I may want to add the other references to them to show. I will have to decide on this.

Thank you,
