I Do Not Need To Defend My Faith, But To Share It
79
I do not feel the need to defend my faith, but the need to share it to help others find their's.
This world has become very confusing. Many of the faiths and religions contradict themselves.
- How can they all be right if they contradict each other?
- How can they be in contrary to that which we know by scientific methods?
- Which ones are right?
One is teaching one thing, and the other is teaching something completely in contrast. With this mass confusion, it is very easy to explain why many have turned their backs on religion and disbelieve. I think I would too, if I did not know the truth, because who can believe the confusion that is out there.
- What is true?
- Is there a Supreme Being?
- What controls all of our world?
For most people, they simply have come up that none of this is true and become atheist. Other try to find that which matches what they believe to be best they can find, but never coming to the total truth.
With all of these confusion that religions have made, their audiences have started to shut them off. We have big evangelicals on TV everyday preaching hell, fire and damnation. Then turning around asking for money. People are tired of this. They can see through these money schemes.
What people want to know is:
- Where did we come from?
- Why are we here? (or what is the purpose of life?)
- What will happen after we die?
These question have haunted mankind for centuries. Amos 8:11 say, "Behold the days will come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:" People will be in want of the word of God, but not be able to find it.
How can we, with all the religions and man-thoughts be in a famine for the word of God. Let's examine earlier in Amos 3:7 "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secrets unto this servants the prophets." God does his work on earth through prophets. Every time in the old testament, when anything was needed, he would speak, and maybe even call a new prophet to go in to the people to teach and to prophetize to them. Every time the people was losing their way, he called prophets to bring the people back to his fold.
What happened to the prophets? As you know many of the prophets were rejected, some even being killed. What we have left of them are some of their writings and teachings to study and try to make sense of. This has lead to a lot of man-thoughts, or many call it philosophies of men. They try on their own to understand the old prophets. Many grasping on one or a few concepts and creating a whole religion over it. This has happen all through out history. With many religions come out of what can be referenced to as the Old Testatment times, or others may reference as before Christ time. Then after the time of Chirst, many Christian religions have pop out of the Christian faith.
But we still have the questions of where are the prophets. In the old testament, there are many references, that when a new prophet was called, the people would say they know of the old prophet, but who are you to say that you are a prophet. It was hard to behold a new prophet. It is easier to believe in the old prophets, and try to develop their faith on what they could get out of his teachings.
So many prophets were rejected. Even in the time of Christ, many people believed in Christ, but others rejected him. They had the Savior and they still could not conceive the thought and believe. Christ sought out twelve others and tought them. The twelve became his Apostles. The same type of twelve representing the twelve tribes of Isreal.
From Ephesians 2:20-21, we learn from Paul "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. In Whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple of the Lord." Paul explained that the Church of Jesus Christ is built upon the foundation Apostles and Prophets, with Jesus Christ being the main cornerstone (corner stones were place under the foundation much as we place footings under foundations for strenght and stabalization. Other places cornerstone is referenced as the stone(s) which the name is written on) The Church of Jesus Christ must have prophets and apostles to exists.
What happened to the prophets and apostles? Well, everyone knows that the prophets and apostles were all killed off. At the first, they called new apostles as seen after Judas's death, they drew lots to choose a new one. The plan was for the apostles to continue on, but they did not..All of the apostles were eventually killed. All we have left is the writings and teachings. Much of the new test have now become fables and stories to most people in the world.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:3, we find that before Christ second coming that there will be an apostasy. "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there is a falling away first..." I looked at Bibles in other languages, and a lot of them use the word "apostasy" instead of "falling away."
So the famine that was talked about has occured. In 2 Timothy 1:15 states that "...all they which are in Asia be turned from me..." That Timothy saw the apostasy happening. In Revelation there are several accounts of the Apostle John seeing churches falling away. Rev 2:12-13, - the church members in Pergamos was chastised for following teachings of Balaam and fornicating and holding to the doctrines of Nicolaitans. Later on in Rev 2:18, tthe Apostle John chastized the church members in Thyarita for following a false prophetess Jezabel, who taught them to commit fornication and eat food sacrificed unto idols. The fallen away and apostasy was starting to occur in the Bible.
So you can see in the times of the Apostles, they were seeing the apostasy starting. Even Martin Luther claimed that the church of christ had ceased to be on the earth any more. This has lead to the state we are in now a days. Everyone trying to grasp up teachings from writings past and make sense of them. One church says this and another church says contrary. How can this be? This is truly a famine for the word of God.
How will this famine end? Actc 3:21 talks about a restitution of all things. Malichi 3:1 mentions "...send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me..." Most scholars believe this to be the Elias (messenger) John the Baptist who prepared the way before Chirst. If Christ sent a messenger before his first coming, would he send a messenger for his second coming. Malichi 3:1 says Christ will come suddenly to his temple. On his first coming he was born a child and had to grow into his temple, this was not suddenly. Therefore, Malichi talking about the second coming of Christ. Would Christ send a messenger to prepare his second coming. And from Amos 3:7 the Lord God does nothing but to reveal his will to his prophet. Christ will send a prophet to us to prepare his second coming.
My message is to you that this prophet has come. In th 1820 a boy in up-state New York was going through the same delima. He decided to pray to God and ask him. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. He was instructed not to join any church, and that later he would later recieve instruction concerning the matter. Later after many revalation and visits from heavenly messengers, he restored The Church of Jesus Christ on earth. He himself as prophet and he called twelve apostles.
The restitution of all thing started. Many truths were revealed.Along with the new revelation by the Prophet Joseph Smith. He translated from old from of hebrew writings, what is known as The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the compilation fo history records of people who lived on the American continents from from approximately 600 BC to 400 AD. It contains many revelations, and even the account of the visitation of Jesus Christ after his resurrection to the American continent. It goes hand in hand with the Bible and is proclaimed to be a second witness of Jesus Christ.
Where did we come from? Throught the restoration, we learn that we lived with Heaven Father before we were born on earth as spirit children. Heavenly Father loved his children so much he wanted them to become perfect as he is. As God knew Jeremiah before he was concieved in the womb. God knew Jeremiah because he lived with him in the pre-existance.
Why are we here? (or what is the purpose of life?) We come to earth to gain a mortal body, that after death, that we would be resurrected into it as Jesus Christ was resurrected with a body, and never to die againg. We were all placed on earth to be tested and gain faiith in our Father in Heaven. That we would have freedom of choice, in this.
What will happen after we die? After this life, when we die would go to the spirit world (also known as paradise as Jesus described it to the thief that hung on the cross beside Christ.) There were continue to grow, be tested and grow faith, as we wait for our day of resurrection. Where we, base on our faith and obedience, not only be reunitied with our physical body, but we will be able to receive our rewards, and possibly through the atonement of Jesus Christ, live with our Heavenly Father again.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the restored church of Jesus Christ on the earth. It are preparing the way of his second coming, that the Bride may be able to meet up to the Groom at his second coming. For more information contact the church or a local missionary. They have over 50,000 missionaries all over the world declaring this to all people, nations and tongues. You are invited to his church.
The answers exists, and they, in most cases are in parallel to scientific evidence. I.e. God create the earth and heaven, if referenced back to the hebrew and greek, basicly describes that he organized it, that the matter already existed but he organized into matter that we could use. The earth existed, but he organized it for our use. Okay, there appears to have been dinosours on the earth. So what, there was dinosours on the earth - this can't be refute that. I do know that God placed Adam on the earth as the first mortal from our Heavenly Father about 7000 years ago. There was stuff that went on the earth before that. What, why and how, I do not know, nor is it important.
What happens to the billions of people who did not hear of Jesus Christ during their life on earth? They will learn and be able to progress in the life hereafter. In 1 Peter 3:19, talks about how Christ, during the three days that he was dead he visited and taught to those in prison, or the afterlife, that they could learn his gospel there. In 1 Corinthians 15:29, it talks about how the people in the new testament was doing baptisms for the dead. So this appeared to be an ordanance of the church then to be able to do baptism by proxy for the dead so that they can be baptized, too. For in the afterlife (spirit world) they do not have bodies that can be baptized. Baptism is so required, that Jesus Christ himself had to be baptized by a person who we know held the priesthood, being the son of the high priest Zacharias.
How Can We Know This Is True For Ourselves:
With the restoration of the church and being given The Book of Mormon, it has a promise with in it test and and proof that it is correct. In the later part of The Book of Mormon, on page 520, Moroni, who was the son of Mormon, who had compiled The Book of Mormon about 400 AD, wrote in Moroni, 10:3-5 the following:
3. Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how mercifulponder it in your hearts. the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder them in your hearts
4. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
So, basically if you will study these things out honestly, ponder them, and ask God if these are true, he will let you know the truth of these things by the power of the Holy Ghost. This is not man or man thoughts, but by the our Heaven Father himself.
I asked him several years ago, twenty-nine to be more exact. The love and present of the Holy Ghost bore to me strongly that it was true. I can never foresake this for I know because Heavenly Father told me. I do not have to rely on any man or phylosophy of man, but on Our Father himself. That he has given prophets and apostle to each lead us. That we are proparing the return of His Son, Jesus Christ to come to earth and sit on his throne as the King and Leader of the man.
We as members are sounding the trumpet, letting our fellow brothers and sister on earth know that his true church has been re-established on earth, they may come and partake. That our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to come unto him.
Please contact the the church at get your copy of The Book of Mormon. Invite the missionaries in and learn of your loving Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Remember no strings attached. We will not try to convince, but let Heavenly Father let you know of the truth through the Holy Ghost.
To clarify on who or what is the Holy Ghost. There is God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the third figure of the Godhead known as the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit), which not like Heaven Father and Jesus, who has a body, the Holy Ghost is only a spirit, who responsibility is to teach, comfort and testify of the truth. He is still a spirit so that he can reside with our spirits, and we can feel his spirit.

I am sorry but what I got from all this is defending your faith because most of the stuff is Mormom and that is YOUR Religion. Faith and Religion are different. You can have Faith that you will swim a hundred yards or run around the tract a few time , but religion divides people.
Thanks for everything Julie. You know what I mean. You are a great lady.
Keep on Hubbing!
Yes Lady Guineverre. The word faith has many meanings,
And I am sorry that religions is dividing people right now, but this is Satan's plan. As the hub ask, what is the TRUTH? Truth does not divide but it should unify. Would it be right to unify under the wrong purpose?
It is to ask God. I am sorry if this may sound offense, but I have asked and this was his answer. I have served a mission for the church and seen many asked with sincerity and they received the same response.
This is why it is important to study it and ask Him. And this will unify, and not devide.
Satan---now who told you that? Did you meditate and ask or did you ask your clergy and no I don't take offense.
Unify--only if they meet the criteria of a church and not anything else. Anything that is judged is dividing--no matter what it is. Love and understanding and compassion to know other people's beleifs is love. Satan doesn't want anything and if you give him credence and power then that is whay you will beleive. I don't beleive in Sata or evil, but only of ones choices in how to act and re-act to others.
What holy book do you read?
You are still defending your religion//faith by telling me what I should do and who to ask and if I don't do it your way then some boogeyman called Satan is gonna get me---makes no sense and is a cop-out to your own actions and re-action and choices. Teh old saying still stands, "The Devil Made Me Do It."
I am just presenting and letting people know of this who might not have had a chance to know about it. You read and you know about it now. We have thousands of missionaries in most of the countries of presenting this same message. This is a condensed message, but it is the first elements of their messagee.
Thanks for hubbing by and reading this.
It can at times be difficult to break through the misconseptions of Heaven and hell when it is constantly reafirmed over and over to the general public by people who do not truely understand the divine justice of God.
Thus the very name of Christ is an offence to unbelievers especially during times of adversity, prayer is ignored when it should be intensified, virtue is carelessly tossed asside, and God is forsaken in the all too human, yet mistaken fear that he has forsaken us.
These are very true principles!
There be lots of missionaries of all denominations.
Who are unbelievers? Why label them? Those who have not heard of your God are they also unbelievers?
Thanks for the thought Onusonus.
Keep on hubbing.
Thank you so much for this beautiful Hub, on our LDS faith.

We should never feel we have to defend our faith rather we should always stand strong on our belief and that is (For me that God sent his only begotten son that who so ever belief in him shall not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16). I think we start talking about what religion is stronger their faith or which doctrine teaches the truth we as individual believers are walking a close line of being judgemental! The bible plainly states that we do not have the right to judge one another, We are to love one another as Christ has first loved us! We must take the plank out of our eye before we try to take it out of someone else's eye!

Thanks for hubbing by mdawson17,
I am presenting what I know to be true, And leave a testimony to others that I know that they can grow closer to Jesus by studying these things and praying to Our Heavenly Father. Ask him. I cannot convince anyone of these things, nor do I try, this is the Holy Spirit's function.
Keep on Hubbing!
I have many friends who are mormon and respect their values and beliefs although I choose to remain a non-denominational Christian. The only thing I am still trying to understand is how the book of Mormon came about and its teachings. I only study the Holy Bible. I hope you can add some insight to the book of Mormon itself. :)
Thanks for hubbing by, AEvans,
In The Doghouse did a nice job on this. See that hub
http://hubpages.com/hub/A-Mormons-VERY-Basic-Intro
Short basic, A prophet named Lehi, was commanded by God to leave Jerusalem about 600 B.C. He traveled to the shores, then his son built a boat, which they then saild to the Americas. Record were kept until 400 AD, on which the prophet in the land at that time abridged them into another gold plate. This his son Moroni, hid the place in a hill in what is now up-state New York. Where as the Moderm Prophet Joseph Smith was called by the Lord, he was visited by Moroni and shown the plates, which after time he was given, and instructed to translate. Thus giving us The Book of Mormon. And the promise of The Book of Mormon, is that as you recieve it, study and pray about, that the Holy Spirit will testify to you of its truthfulness.
Most LDS member have this as their testimony, that the Holy Ghost himself, revealed it to them by revelation that it is true. This is not man=thoughts and man's philosoply about religion, but is straigh personal revelation from God himself. And we are out to let the whole world know that the Truth is on the earth. If The Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith is a Prophet, and he as a prophet restore The Church Of Jesus Christ on earth.
This is my testimony that this is true, AEvans, and anyone else who reads this. I served a mission 29 years ago in Portugal, letting people discover this. I have a son in Chicago. speaking spanish, working with the spanish speaking people on this. I have felt too many times, not only in my life, but in other people's life, the Holy Ghost testifying to them of this truth. This is from God. I can only tell people about it, and ask them to find this out for themselves.
Please contact, the LDS church in your area and ask them to send missionaries to your, with a Book of Mormon, and study it. If it is not true, you think God would reveal to you that it is true? These are 19 and 20 year old young men out teacher the world.
I testify to you and everyone I know The Book of Mormon to be truly what we/it say it is because the Holy Ghost revealed into me that it was. In the name of Jesus Christ 0 our savior and redeemer, Aman.
I am a Christian who does not know much about Mormonism, but I found your hub interesting and I don't think you should be criticized for sharing your beliefs. You said that after we die, we go to the spirit world or paradise...what is that? Is God there?
jacob2,
Please check out my other hub, "What Is The Purpose Of Live" at http://hubpages.com/hub/What-is-The-Purpose-of-Lif
This has a goes deeper into the explanation of paradise and the spirit prison. I you have further questions, we can always set up an appointment with the missionaries in your area to help expand on these items.
Keep on Hubbing!
I like the way you have talked about Prophets. Can you tell me with scriptures on how do we know a True Prophet of God. Thanks and God Bless You
Buy his works ye shall know him.
Matthew 7:15-20, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
I will say as I basically said in this hub and many others. Study these things, ponder upon, and ask Heavenly Father in prayer, and by the spirit he will testify of these things to you. This is the true test, all other are open to human interpretation and arguement.
We can go over scriptures and bash about them, but only the spirit testifies and convinces people. We can't convince another by argueing.
Thanks for the questions, and I would recommend you contact the missionaries and learn more, for the spirit has told me of these truths.
Keep on hubbing Leroy
Thank you eoevery I just want to keep a true communication with all. Leroy
I usually avoid discussions on Religion since I am not affiliated with a specific Religion, but I do believe there is some greater power.
Perhaps that greater power does occasionally place a person on this earth for the sole purpose of reminding earthlings of the greater power. You can call that person Messiah Jesus or whatever. As for Religions dividing people, I agree when it comes to Islamic Law, which I call organized crime, not religion. Since Religion comes in so many different packages but the main content is
a greater power, or God, it should not matter, any more than it matters to a lot of us whether we buy a Big Mac or a Whopper, it is still a Hamburger.. Just hold the onions..
BTW, I live among many LDS Mormons, they are some of the nicest people I have ever known..
Thanks for stopping by you great American. Joseph Smith actually was called to organize and restore the gospel of Jesus Christ on earth, and to start the preparation of the second coming of Jesus Christ, so his church would be here on earth, so the Groom could meet the Bride on his return. There is a lot of work going on that the majority of the people on earth do not even an idea that it is going on. Jesus will come to his temple, and we are building temples all over the earth from him, and doing the work of preparing the people for salvation. The temples of the old world had purpose that the record did not write about. The Masons kept a resemblance of the work, but lost the real purpose of this, due to the apostasy from Christ teachings, and now that his teachings are restored, we are not building temples and do the saving ordinances with in the temple for both the living, and our ancestors who passed before us without the chance to do the ordinances for themselves.
Keep on Hubbing.
eovery, I have just read your Hub on your LDS beliefs. In 1964-1965, 1965-1966, when I was a freshman-sophmore At WVU I lived across the river from Morgantown, WV. Each of these two school years I had two different pairs of LDS missionaries. I took the lessons both times from these dedicated servants of the LDS message.
I prayed to get the knowledge that the LDS Church was the one and true church. I liked many things I was told about the LDS church, but I never got a clear calling.
I still respect the LDS church and many of its teachings. But while I now consider myself a non-denominational Christian, I basically have no problem attending most denominational worship services.
My basic belief is God the Father created all that was, is, or ever shall be. That through accepting the message of the Holy Spirit in our hearts we accept Jesus the savior of our souls. Through this belief we may obtain everlasting life due to confession of our sins and true repentance the sacrifice of Jesus cleanes our souls and make us fit for the presense of God the Father.
Thanks for coming by Tom. It does take sincerity, patience and even a lot of fasting, but when you become humble enough to open the door, you will get the testimony. I would advise you to talk to the missionary again, and be totally sincere. There is so much to the gospel.
Keep on hubbing.
