I Love Potty Training - Part 2

Say Goodbye To Diapers
So, your child is ready to be be potty trained? If you're not sure, check out "I Love Potty Training" to find out.
Here is my three step plan for success in less than a week. If your child is having accidents after a few days on one step, then it's probably a good idea to take a break for a week or two.
- Days 1-2: Naked from waist down for at least 3-4 hours straight, at home. There will be accidents, but the sensation of wetting legs and feet is much different than wetting a diaper or underwear, so your child will realize more quickly what is happening. Do not move to the next step until the accidents slow down or cease. If you are spending more than a week on this step, it may be too early for training.
- Days 3-4: Pants or shorts, without underwear or diaper, for at least 3-4 hours straight, at home. Your child will still feel wetness on their legs and feet if they have an accident. If they are making it to the bathroom on time, they will have practice getting undressed from the waist down without too many clothes on.
- Days 5-6: Pants or shorts, with underwear (no diaper), for at least 3-4 hours straight, at home. If you've gotten this far, there is no reason to turn back. These last few days are for practice going to the bathroom having to manage with a few layers of undergarments and clothes.
This method may not work for some children, and do not get frustrated if it's not working. This is an intensive, quick-training program, and may be too fast-paced for your little one. This is best if you are able to be home for a week with your child, with as few distractions as possible. Good luck!

you know I so agree..but many mom's work and it can be a difficult thing..but I guarantee in 3 days ...on a long week-end you can do it. wearing the pull-ups is not teaching them it is just making it easier for the caretakers. It is really simple..they don't like being wet from peeing any more then we do. summer is a good time for running around naked..i love it anyway.
I have taken the boys to our beaches just to have them eventually want to take their clothes..well the girls do too..and run around..they have no shame..which is great. Not saying that's why I take them there it just ends up like that...our beaches are also pretty empty. They are such free spirited beings. Off the main point here tho..
Well I think we all get the idea G-Ma :o) hugs

Thanks for this advice! We are having trouble telling if our 2 year old is ready or not. We have some "potty training underwear" with thicker lining, and I think she doesn't really know when she's wet it. So having her go naked is a great idea. I'll get the mop out and be ready!
