I really want to get rid of this cold (flu, whatever it is!)
71What I really want for Christmas...
Here I am in cold and flu season again. I feel like I am wading around in a sea of sick co-workers, many of whom are sneezing, wheezing, coughing, blowing their noses (or not...) you name it. Then, while trying to avoid the vapor trails left by the tragically sick, I make the mistake of crossing paths with a virus. It goes down hill from there-BUT WAIT!
I don't go down easily, and I've tried so many cough syrups, cold medications, lozanges, and they don't always work, or they work and leave me drowsy, then it can do other things to me like leave my nose unplugged but dry out my mouth, or even make matters worse.
This time I decided to try something different. I have a couple of friends that swear by a product called "Allimax". Really, it's just garlic-no, really! There is a bit of work that went into squeezing the good stuff out of the garlic (and I don't like to smell like a garlic clove either!) and so, they have a process for all that. When they are done, it's technically considered "allicin".
Allicin is the stuff that makes the difference, and you might be surprised (I was) at what this is used for. Allicin is a natural Anti-biotic. That's right, and if you've heard anything about Anti-biotics, you know if you take the pharmecutical variety (penicilin, omoxycilin, etc.) that, eventually your body becomes used to that, and when you may REALLY need it the most, for something particularly nasty, they have to ramp up the potency until you are really taking some strong drugs. So, this being a natural product, that does not apply to Allicin!
That makes me happy, another thing shows how powerful this stuff is, it fights staff infection. I tried the brand "Allimax" because that was recommended to me, and since it worked, i'll stick with it. My family (I've got 4 kids) tried this when cold season hit, and we have done significantly better then when we dumped money into the non-natural over-the-counter drugs that usually just led to using more over-the-counter drugs...hmmm, sounds like a good little business they have going there? Anyway, this was good because it's all natural, and it worked. My other co-worker, who is much younger than me, is NOT using Allimax. Well, he is sniffeling, weak, leaving work early, etc. Don't know why he just insists that his over-the-counter is the best.
You may want to consider how much misery, downtime and overall cost there is in getting sick. I mean, if you just want to take sick leave, ok, but for those that really don't want to miss out on life, and would rather get and stay better, here is a plan:
First, take around one Allimax a day when your co-workers start into the sniffeling and getting sick mode.
Second, take echanacia. One a day if you are not infected, it's inexpensive and can be had over the net, or it's popular enough you can probably get it over at your local supermarket. If not, check the net. Try and get it with "Golden Seal", that's something else they put in to make it all the more powerful, I think the capsule should probably contain around 450mg of Echanacia, or around there.
Remember! Ramp up the dosage (according to instructions) if you start to feel something oncoming. Let's face it, most of us won't take a daily dose, and the moment you start into the stuffy nose cycle, start taking both of these, around three or more a day. Try to take one dose for breakfast (of each, Allimax and Echanacia), one dose for lunch and then for dinner. I would take it on a full stomach, although i've not had a problem with taking it on an empty stomach, but it doesn't hurt. :)
I'll be writing more articles on things I've been trying and that W O R K, because I don't like the things that don't work.. and neither do you.
Hey, good luck and I hope you don't catch a cold or flu this year! If things start to get bad, remember to see your doctor, just understand that most doctors aren't gonna tell you about this because they train them to refer drugs, not alternative medicine! Think about it, then there's the pharmecutical perks they get-hmmmm. Well, can't live with them, can't live without them I guess.
I love ya, have a great Christmas!
The next thing I write about will probably be the Chi Machine, I love that thing!

Thank you so much Tatjana-Mihaela! I went to your site, and you are truly awesome. I forwarded your asthma article to my son, he was on it immediatly. I put it on this comment (if you don't mind):)
You're comments are much appreciated.
I have heard of the health benefits that come from garlic, but never knew there was an over the counter extract available. Thanks for the informative post
Well, well...Allimax works wonders. I use this for my family of 5 whenever we feel something coming on. Allimax in combination with echinacae and golden seal will ward off any virus germs that are floating around trying to get a foothold on your immune system.
Oh, yeah...always remember to wash your hands after you have been out and about or in close contact with someone who is coughing, etc. Good hand washing will help Allimax and the rest to do their job!!!
Good health to all this winter season.
Great article. I've never heard of Allimax before this article; I will have to try. I also take echinacea. Thanks for sharing the info. Thumbs up!
Super Hub! Thanks for letting everyone know the benefits of garlic, the ancient antibiotic. Even good to keep those werewolfs away. You may want to check out my hub on a homeopathic flu remedy. Begin taking early in the flu season as a preventative. And definitely wash those hands. All the best, Debbyhttp://hubpages.com/hub/Homeopathic-Influenza-Reme
