Plasma TV is the method by which images are produced on a TV screen. Some other methods of creating pictures on the TV screen being the CRT and LED.Cathode Ray Tube ( CRT) is the conventional TV. Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology is new and a competetior technology to Plasma TV technology

TV Screen Resoloutions

The size of TV screens are measured diagonally. Plasma TV screen is made up of pixels or cells laid out in rows both horizontall and vertically. The total number of cell on a screen is called native resoloution of the screen.

The picture on a higher resoloution screen will be clearer, sharper and brighter other things remaining constant,

As the technology developed, the size of cells making the TV screen has reduced . Depending upon the size of the cells/ pixels used now it is possible to have similar TV screen size with different screen resoloution . Despite the same screen size their cost s can be significantly different.

One classification of HDTVs is by their native screen resolution. Most prominent brand of PlasmaTVs available in the market have native resolutions as given below or combinations there about :-

(a)The ED TV (840 X 180) resolution (now being discontinued by most brand).

(b)HDTV 1024 X 768 (720p found on many 42" plasma screens),

(c)HDTV 1366 X 768 (also a 720p or 1080i resolution found on 50", 60", & 65" plasma screens).

(d)Super high resolution 1920 X 1080 (1080p found in plasma screen sizes from 42" to 103").

Generally, a plasma TV screen is considered "High Definition" if the later number ( the one after the X multiply sign) of the resolution is at least 720 pixels.
