66Very Good Points Before Exam
Most of us would have different moods towards exams. Some may take it seriously and start working, some may have the seriousness but may not have the mood always to work, in particularly when exam is nearing, some may take is lightly, some want to do it sincerely but don't know how to approach, some might have faced failures despite hard work which may not be in proper direction. To tide over such issues, here are realistic tips, no stories. These are sensible and workable tips. Apply this for IELTS exams.
Registration
The foremost step is to register for the exam, it may be done online. You need to reserve for your seat first to avoid disappointment. If the seat is not available, there's a drop down box to choose another center. Once you choose the center, you need to fill in the form online and submit it. Remember, for people who stay outside the country, need to produce some identity like passport and the passport number must be mentioned in the application form that you fill in online. Once you submit the form, you'll be getting an email asking you to make the payment. Payment can be done using your credit card. A form will be sent by email to you. Take a print out and fill in the form with credit card details, scan it, send the form as an attachment along with scanned copies of your recent photos and identity. This is one of the procedures as of now and it may change in future. Once the registration fee [now US $170/-] is accepted, your seat is assured and will be intimated by email with 'Session Id'.
Before Exam:
Please call up the centre and know the following a day before exam at least.
- Location and Direction to Venue
- Time to be present before exam
- Docs that we need to bring. Most probably all will be given, you need to bring the identity
Test:
There are two types of test, viz (i) Academic (ii) General Training
Both have 4 tests
- Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking
Listening:
This would be the first test where the audio will be played and all will be given question paper and answers sheet. Audio will be played only once, so please try be at the centre well before time. You will be given time to glace through some questions, say 1 to 4 for some time and then the audio will be played. From the audio, get the answer and write it down in the blanks provided in the 'Question Paper'. Again, from 50 10 you will have some time to glace through the question, again the audio continues, listen carefully and get the answers for those. Once the whole session is done, 10 minutes time will be given to transfer the answer to the answer sheet.
Tips:
Here, when you get the time to read the questions, say 1 to 4, underline quickly the point in that questions. For example, if the questions are
1. Which car did ________ use to travel to Columbia?
In the above question,
- underline the word car.
- translate the question to your own [well known] language, may be your mother tongue.
This helps remember the question.
