INDIA INCREASES THE PRICE OF 3G SPECTRUM

The INDIAN Government has increased the prices of 3G spectrum very highly and also the license fees and government is saying that the auction will start within 3 months which is very delayed as it is postponed thrice.

A panel has announced that the reserve prices for the license of 3G will be INR 35 BILLION which is very high compared to the initial license fees of 20 BILLION by telecommunication board of INDIA(TRAI).Government says that the auction will be compete with in three months and it expects to raise around 250 Billion from the sale of license of 3g.

India is the largest growing market in the mobile in the world and 3g technology is the fast and much needed in today's atmosphere. Because today network in india of the mobile phone has met the saturation point and there is always a complaint of call drop etc which can be remove only with 3g technology.However the prices of 3Ghandsets in the market are very high and the starting range is 7500 INR. But one need to covert on this technology for better services.

India will sell the 3G license in 20 zones out of 22 of mobile and broadband.

However, some mobile operators have criticised the high costs involved in obtaining pan-Indian 3G spectrum. "The right price should have been the TRAI recommended price of INR20.20 billion," said SC Khanna, secretary general of a group representing the Indian operators
