There are three kinds of digital tv broadcasting systems existing today,which includes satellite tv,digital cable TV and internet protocol televisions.
IPTV is the latest technology in TV viewing ,may represent a threat to other two modes of TV viewing.
In IPTV,television channels are viewed through IP.the signal is encrypted using vendor-specific security mechanisms and can only be decrypted by the receiver.the video are sent in the form of IP packets over the existing broadband infrastructure and assembled to the viewing using the set up box at users premises. these offers the users to enjoy TV viewing over the same broadband connection as used for surfing the internet.
Broadcaster have their benefits like 'triple play' services of voice data and TV over the same infrastructure. the triple play means VoIP,,internet and IPTV bundled together and offer over the same network. This gives an advantage to the broadcasters to have two way communication with the viewers - an advantage they won't get from satellite TV or in the cable TV system.
IPTV , still in the stage of infancy, its not well established yet.due to high bandwidth requirement ,hundreds of channels cannot be broadcasted on it simultaneously.every channel change request goes to server and causes delay while changing channel.
