ITV Ventures MLM Owner Donald Barrett To Shut Doors on All its Network Marketing Distributors

What Do You Do When Your Network Marketing Company Closes It's Doors and Leaves You Out In The Cold?
Most People might not have heard of ITV Ventures or Donald Barrett but if you are a late night infomercial watcher, you probably have seen him sharing information about ITV and all the products his company represents, products like Coral Cal Daily, Flex Protex and SeaVegg. You might also recognize the name Kevin Trudeau, a partner with ITV Ventures and Mr. Barrett. The concept behind ITV, combining TV, Internet and Network Marketing actually makes sense, but what bothers me about situations like this are the countless distributors, better said PEOPLE, left out in the cold.
Recently the news was broke on MLM WatchDog, that ITV Ventures is to close it's doors on October 3rd, 2008, leaving all its Network Marketing distributors out in the cold. It goes on to say that a new company, Elite Virtual Services, will take over and that current distributors can keep their customers by paying Elite a monthly fee but that the new model will no longer be involved with MLM. It claims that Donald Barrett must come up with $55 million to pay the FTC and that the FTC is also after Kevin Trudeau.
This story hits home to me, I too was involved with an MLM in the past that had a similar situation and it effected many thousands of folks world wide. What do you do when you have spent your time, hard earned money and dedication to building a home based business, and in a blink of an eye, it's gone? I can tell you what I did back then, I quit and didn't want anything to do with an MLM ever again. It was 10 years before I ever gave it a thought, and even then, when I found the company that has brought success to my family today, I still had a bad taste in my mouth. To me, it's situations like this, that continue to mar and degrade what Network Marketing is all about, helping people. Helping people by providing incredible products at a price better than what you can find it somewhere else, and helping people build a legitimate home based business that creates financial security.
I feel for all the folks involved with ITV and what they are facing. I understand what thoughts and feelings you must have. What I want to share to all of them, and anyone who is involved with Network Marketing, is that life is always full of challenges and road blocks, it's how we use those road blocks that will determine our future. You could do what I did over 10 years ago and quit, give up or swear that you will never look at another MLM opportunity again. OR, you can take this monumental stumbling block and use it to turn your situation in a positive direction. I can't tell you how many times I have told myself, "I wish I would have never given up back then". I can only dream where I could have been or could have gone if I never quit.
MLM and Network Marketing will always have stories like this one. There will always be people and companies who don't care about the little guy, only the green backs in their wallets. But that is OK, I have learned my lesson, I understand now that it isn't always about the product and company, it's about how I market them that will keep me successful for years and years to come. Knowledge is power and if you know how to successfully market your home business, you can build a 100 MLM opportunities, and they will all be successful.

Tell me what you think of ITV or have you had a similar experience with a past Network Marketing company?
It is best to start up your own online business with products and services that you own and control as the way of the world and society is and states on the quiet, that it's everyone for themselves!
I'm not a fan of MLM stuff as I prefer to build up my own earnings through hard work rather than hard work and then disappointment!
Hi waynet,
Thank you for the comment, I appreciate that very much. I totally agree with you about starting your own online business and you are right, there are times when disappointment does arise, similar to what some folks experienced with ITV.
I was not a fan of MLM either, had a lot of my own not so good experiences, but I still believe that Network Marketing is one of the most viable business models out there. I think that folks today spend a little more time and dilegence when looking at companies, products and comepensation plans, before just jumping in, but it all comes down to marketing, just like any business.
Thanks again, great to meet you,

Great article Mike, Your totally right, it's never about the company or the product. It's about you. Only you can make you.

I haven't had an experience (yet) with getting the doors shut down on me, but it is always going to be an issue in this industry. That's why it's so important to create You inc., in your Attraction Marketing Sales Funnels. That way you don't have to rely on your company as much. You have a list that you build, create a relationship with that list by giving good quaility content for free (essentially show them how to build a business), and if a situation like this happens, you already have a list that yu can go back to to build another company.
Whew I just about joined ITV. Glad I seen it as to good to be true. Thanks
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the comment, glad that I could help some. I think that ITV is still going, but the Network Marketing part of their compensation plan is no longer, leaving a lot of folks without that income anymore. It is sad and unfortunately, something that happens to often to MLM'ers around the globe, from all sorts of companies.
Thanks again, nice to meet you,
Mike Witt
