If Only We Really Did this
57
We all know that life can be humdrum at times, especially city life where the mode of the day is hearing the alarm clock, clawing our way out of a warm bed and facing another day where earning a living is the number one priority in our lives.
We buy the newspaper before catching the subway so we can busy ourselves in news to avoid talking to a real person who just may be really interesting, but best we not bother to find out in case they are an arsehole. And, well, I just can't be bothered. Is it just me, or is this common? Do you see it? Do you do it? So busy with thoughts to bother acknowledging life itself.
If only we could change our attitude, if only for a few minutes. Check this out and if it doesn't make you smile then get therapy.
T-Mobile Dance
Don't know about you but I've played this video over about 6 times already, which is a great thumbs up to the creators. Each time I see people seeing people. Check out the guy with the broom top black hairdo. "Hey, you really want me to dance to My Boy Lollipop? Oh, ok"
As kooky as it may seem and as shy as you may feel, how would it change your attitude?
My smile widens and my heart just wishes I could dance to the Blue Danube before I boarded a train, with a total stranger who smiled back and said "hey, thanks for making my day better."
I hope just for 2 minutes and 41 seconds you smiled like I did.

Hi Jewels,
thanks for the treat.
Wonderful video. Thanks!
I loved it!! I am also a T-Mobile user, another thumbs up for them... Funny I used to hip-hop and I can ballroom , I love dance period and I do wish the world could be like this more often. It is my understanding that it was created with real life people and only a handful of dancers, the rest of the people were actually not acting!!!:)
This made giggle and smile, how lovely!!! And Aevans commented that, they are not all actors, wow, that makes it even better! Your hub and video reminded me yet again, to be grateful that my daily commute by subway to a stressful corporate job which I had to do like everyone else, because I had to do it to eat, is not part of my life anymore. Its good timing before I started to take things for granted. ;) Thumbs up!
Christoph - yes I wish I was a part of it. In fact next time I'm waiting for a train I just might do the mashed potato and see what happens!
Benson - You are most welcome.
Ralph - thanks for dropping in, can I put you on my dance card?
AE - there were mainly non actors which makes it even more real. Can see it is what a good dose of fun. Wish I was there.
VioletSun - It gave me a reality check on what's important cause I take lots for granted. People matter at the end of the day. And this looked so much fun.
Jewels - ahhhhh, you know it doesn't take much for something (not quite so co-ordinated) to happen. One little thing out of the ordinary and WHAM! people look each other in the eye and share a moment. Thanks for the reminder.
Cate - Very true, so if you see me do the twist in the supermarket, come join me.
Every time I see this video I'm thrilled anew by the joie de vivre of all those people connecting for a few minutes of their busy lives! :)
This was so fun to watch!!! Loving my T-Mobile all the more now!! Thank you for sharing this, and for brightening my day!! Dancing my way off to bed now!!
Feline - thanks for dropping in. It's a pity it wasn't longer. I don't like when they all return to 'normal.' I'm such a sop!
Anna, great to see you. You won't sleep, or you'll be dancing in your dreams. Nite.
Fun video, although "Type A" me kept thinking, "OMG, they're all going to be late!" :)
It may not be the same thing, but I've actually had two memorable versions of "spontaneous shared humanity" in recent years. One involved selecting pumpkins for the doorsteps, and running into a stranger also selecting hers. One of us made a joke, the other picked up, and then - for the longest time - we were laughing and laughing to the point we couldn't imagine being able to stop. (Apparently, pumpkins can be a funny thing. :) )
Then there was another time when a similar thing (different type of humor though) happened as I was selecting Halloween candy at the local CVS. A stranger and I ended up laughing and laughing, and keeping the jokes coming - and I, for one, kind of forgot that we were making a scene in the candy aisle at CVS.
My two little moments of spontaneous shared humanity" are nowhere near as impressive as the station video; but I thought I'd mention them because those moments can actually happen in real life - but in smaller ways. My little moments not only made my day, but remain with me to think about when I feel like smiling. :)
Thanks for the video. I've not seen it anywhere else.
Thumbs up to you Lisa. There is allot of joy to be had, we just have to take the chance on making it happen. I love being mischievously spontaneous, which may annoy people at times - but I mean well! LOL
I love it ! Marching to the beat of our/your own drummer, let the world think what it will or be annoyed, you just keep on smiling and say, Have a nice day.
Hey Sandman, thanks for dropping by.
I only do private dances, so you won't catch me frolicking about, but I talk to everyone I see on the street
great video
Hey toad. I can do exhibitionism if I'm in the mood! It is a great vid, gets you going.
Hi Jewels, Yes It did make me smile. Now I can go to sleep and have fun dreams. Thank you for your hub.
Hi Jewels, thank you, I loved it! This is what life is about.
Whikat, nice way to end the day. Sweet dreams.
It is Russ, or it's supposed to be. Glad you dropped in to enjoy the fun.
This video rocks a big thumbs up Jewels
I love that video.
I did...
You did? Please tell Sour Man.
There is a group called Improv everywhere. They put their work on YouTube and you can sign up to be a part of their "missions." Very funny video :) Thanks!
Actually smiled longer than that, cheers for that !
I still play it every now and then when I need a boost. Thanks for dropping by.
Cool!....grins!.....I could do that...I'd look really funny but I could do it. Thanks! :)
I'll put you on my dance card next time we're both at Kings Cross Station.
What a great video Jewels. And I thought it was only Harry Potter who had strange experiences at railway stations! Dancing is such brilliant therapy. It's hard to feel down when you're moving to good music.
Yeah Amanda, why should Harry have all the fun. Would be great to have designated dancing platforms. Great way to treat stress.
I had viewed this previously but enjoyed it again and you are correct...I am smiling. Thanks for sharing this fun video.
As much as it pains me to use this word...cute..that was cute!
It is so true. Life would be a lot better if everyone would stop, take a few deep breaths, and smell the roses. Not being an arse would also help :)
Peggy, glad it made you smile and thanks for dropping by.
Cute's ok funnebone! LOL But I know what you mean :)
Aya-jajajaja. LOL Not enough rose smelling in the world = lots of asses.
Grouse Jewel! I loved it. People all have this good side I reckon.
I reckon they do too ernest. So wonderful to see this side of people. You realize if we had a hubpages union somewhere, we'd have to do our own dance routine for the world to see! Hmmmmm!
I loved this. I would and have done this in several places and my wife thinks I'm nutz. haha Much fun. I caught the guy with the hair too right off, LOL
I love being nutz too. Consider yourself on my dance card in a subway near you!
Saw this once before and loved it, thanks for putting it on here...I must have watched it half a dozen times before I commented LOL
I would definitely have joined in :D
Pop over anytime if you want to watch it. I do when I need a lift.
Stopped by to see that dance again just had to
Hope it lifted you. Nice to see you BP.
Can we do the t-mobile dance at 10:30? I'm excited!
lol, excellent video, much better than the bit I saw on TV where it just shows the real dancers with everyone else taking pics on their phones, in this you can see other people joining in, check out that granny, brilliant!
(pauses to go watch it again)
lol, genius.
Like you say, buy paper, eyes down, avoid all contact, jeeez I've even flown to the other end of the world and had to force my self to interact with the local culture and people (the sole reason I went), you automatically assume that everybodys just out to sell you something, and often they are, everybodys got to make a living, but get past that and well... I remember my boat not turning up and leaving me lost in Thailand, and this old guy offered to read my fortune, at first I just brushed him off, then I offered him a cig, then we spent the next four hours just smoking and chatting about life, in the end he wanted to take me back to his village to meet his whole family, lol, he was a good man.
Good to get involved.
What a great story. Meeting and talking to that guy would be worth all the rides at Disney Land and it cost you a cigarette. I so agree, everyone wants to sell you something and it's so disheartening that the real person isn't even behind the sales pitch. It takes an effort to cut through the bull. Now I want to go to Thailand and get my fortune read - where was he? :)
I met him by the side of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, If you do go, you probably won't have to search too long to find him, he'll find you. ;)
Lol Jewels that happens to me a lot I think I am in someones fan club then realise I am not and I nearly faint LMAO x0x
That so freakin' amazing Jewels, I so feel like standing up on my desk and dancing , I would do too (only if I didn't fear that they're gonna throw me out for the stunt ... not that I haven't pulled off enough already).
*hums along*
Hahaha naz. Was fun wasn't it. I had to download My Boy Lollipop after watching the vid. Try your workmates and see what happens!!
Jewels, we were never meant to live completely surrounded by total strangers. We need to live in a society of intimates.
Initimate sounds fun! Intimate sounds necessary. I agree with you Aya, we are supposed to give and more hugs.:D
I did, indeedy, I smiled the whole way through. Also loved "Gods" hub. Thanks for another great piece of writing, jewels. You certainly are creating many here on hub pages.
Amazing video! I'm glad I stumbled on this hub. The video reminded me of Grand Central Station in NY. It looks quite similar. I loved the energy in the video. Hats off those who created it.
That is sooo cool. What a difference it would make it we all made time to speak and be kind to others. It will also come back, Karma.
dori
I've always joked that if I was a super hero my super power would to have the ability to make people break out in song and dance...
Sounds like a great super power to have DL. Thanks guys for coming by and enjoying the vid. It's a great uplifter.
Jewels - wow lol I loved the video! I know it was advertising but what clever advertising it was! Watched it twice it's bloody brilliant!
I just know I'd have joined in, even if I didn't know the dance moves :)
And ... life is for experiencing, soaking up and drinking in. It's not about rush rush rush. Taking time back, using it well - that's what it's all about. A great article Jewels, easily rated up!
Hey frog, glad you danced along with us all.
Awesome! I saw another thing like this on the news last night and they were calling it something--I mean, there was some kind of slang word for it, for when a bunch of people break into a sponataneous coordinated dance in a very public place and then disperse when they're done, just for a hoot. Wow I would love to be able to do that! Thanks for sharing! ;)
Wow- thanks! Every now and again an ad really performs a public service too! I am gonna watch it again, then forward...
I cried through the whole thing - but they were happy tears!
Hi wandering woman - I come back to my own hub here just so I can get a top up on the good feelings! Glad you liked it.
Hi Mindfield - I know those happy tears. Hope to dance with you at some train station somewhere!
btw- the term seems to be `flash mob'. ahem, i seem to have some catching up to do. thanks again!
hi i am really impressed by the video that you placed in this hub. really an eye catching one and definitely a must watch video.
That is really a wonderful video. I wish I could turn on the volume but my husband is sleeping but I will watch it again later. Thumbs up.
Thanks guys for dropping by. This is a pick me up if your mood is a bit low. Nothing like a bit of dancing at your local train station!
Chocolate picks up my mood but alas it also shows around ;)
"I know what you mean" she says while snapping off another piece of dark chocolate Orange and Almond!
I envy you. I am trying to lose some weight. :(
Jewels don't know how I missed this one. Great video what a tonic for the blues. Loved the old lady dancing.
CW - Me too. But it's dark chocolate and is good for you!!!!
Hey sixty - I know what you mean, it's always uplifting. Come back anytime and have a dance.
Ok Baby lets dance!!!
Oh wow - dancing is such joy - loved the video Jewels - going back up to watch it again :)
Glad you guys dropped in for a bit of shoe shuffling.
This video was awesome, wish something like that would take place, if only once in awhile. Great hub! I will watch the video over and over again, must bookmark it.
Nice of you to join the dancers on Hubpages fastfreta. You're welcome any time.
I loved it! I couldn't stop laughing! That is so funny! Too cute! I am showing this too all my friends! Thanks you made me smile Jewels!
Fabulous Jenny, everyone's welcome.
This is great, especially the black haired guy you pointed out. And yes I thought the same thing about how many were going to be late. But it's all worth it.!
came back for a watch. Why do weddings get people so nervous! thought this might calm me down. It did put a lift in my step.
just had to stop back by and watch the video again, it is awesome, just wish we could all be that way all the time.
hugs
dori
Hey guys, all welcome anytime, put your feet up, grab some popcorn if ya like and leave feeling happy.
Before work every day I try do do something I love, and then I spend ten or fifteen minutes imagining the things I want right before I go in. This puts a positive spin on the day.
awesome thanks for sharing..... People are just great aren't they....
Hi Jess and Brenda, thanks for dropping in and getting your fix of fun and dance.
LOLLOL Great video !.I loved it !! LOL!!!
Jewels, life is worth sharing, just wished I lived in Liverpool-Fantastic Hub-Thanks!!!!!!!!!
yeap, i loved it.... Watched it twice is was so fun to see
This page has become a bookmark for that quick fix we need during the day. It's certainly uplifting. Thanks for dropping by.
Nice video. To misquote a semi-popular song from the 70's, you have a way of turning the world so it's facing the way you're going. Don't ever stop.
Nice
thanks for sharing this hub, everyone that see's this will love it!:)
Thanks Mike and Waren E. People have returned to get a fix of good cheer when they're down. It beats medication. :D
Hey there! really entertaining, had a great fun watching this guys danced...cant help but to smile and bounce with it :). Blessings!
Nice feel good hub Jewels!
I've never seen this before, I wonder how I missed it?
What a wonderful world it would be if when things were bad everyone just broke in song and dance...love it!
Jeff
It does seem as if communication has been shrunk into tiny techno boxes, everywhere one looks, folks are bent over mini screens and keyboards, focusing on someone distant, while those nearby go ignored. We have raised towers of babble, made of steel girders and lights, so that we can pick and choose who we talk to, wherever we want.It is only when some older form of communication, such as a spontaneous dance rears it's neglected head, that this changes. Then the masses once again take note of each other, laughing and focusing on the human element, not found in electronic blips. At least until someone's Verizon vibrates, or some same old recorded songdistracts them from fellow human beings, and draws them back to the Pandora's box that hangs from their belt or wallows in their purse. Great write.~~~MFB III
Thanks for your visit MFBIII. Where are we heading as a species?
Loved this! It would be fantastic if we really did this!
I wonder if Spencer Street could handle it Catherine?
You really don't need my two cents;but I'm an extravert of sorts an can't stop myself...
I just want to share that behavior is attitude temperament, for the record, its managed by ones propensity for inclusive~emotion civil~desire and selflessness~will...
Your presentation was impeccable...
I can easily see you dancing at some railway station somewhere Ioua. The world needs more extroverts with heart.
This worked for me. Glad I saw this one; spot on!

Hi Jewels. I saw this just a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I also watched it several times in a row. Wouldn't you love to be a part of this? Or to come across it on your way to somewhere? What fun!
