If you ask him for a name

if you ask him for his thoughts

if you ask him for his game

and the battles he has fought

if you watch him do his deeds

if he shows you his demise

would you pick up all his seeds

and allow them all to rise

if he shows you his darkness

if he shows you your grief

would you stand with him in sadness

and give him your beliefs

if all he knows is his life

if all his truth is his way

would you want to be his wife

and stand him every waking day

another day goes by

another plastic syringe

another mad hatter's tea

and cigarette burns

if he tells you his name

if he tells you his thoughts

if he tells you his game

and showed the chaos that he brought

if he gives you his deeds

and trusts you with his demise

if he asks you to plant his seeds

would you advise him to be wise

when he shows you his darkness

will you lighten up his life

when he tells you of his madness

will you trust him with a knife

will you change him to be better

if all his truth is his way

will you cut him to be wiser

or by him, quietly stay

another year goes by

with all the syringe

of penny royal tea

and powder burns

if he can't escape his life

would you bother to ask him why

would you still want to be his wife

even though you know you'll cry

another Christmas comes

and no more syringe

no penny royal tea

as his casket burns
