Deriving pleasure from viewing pain and sufferings of others is now a common thing for which we have become accustomed to

Answering your question, “If most media is negative, why do we like to watch it so much”?

It is actually the attraction for the forbidden that attracts people. Just mark, “do not open” on a file and everyone will be looking at it if they are given access to it.

Similarly we have become very cruel in nature and enjoy watching things happening to others not to learn lessons from their mistakes but to have fun and to entertain ourselves. In a research report it was mentioned that an average American child by the time he turns 13 has witnessed over 2 million shoot outs in his life via television. Have you seen what sadistic crap is filled in cartoons these days? Naturally a child will become insensitive to all that and will start deriving pleasure out of it.

So to cut a long story short, we have been programmed to enjoy violence and negatives in life rather than nature and peaceful things
