That isn't hard to answer at all, matter of fact I am working very hard to accomplish my Goal.

My Goal is to go full time in my freelance Career by December of 2007. Currently I am writing as well as drawing on an evening basis, after I have finished my day job and taken care of my household.

Since I wish to succeed in my chosen Field, I am certain that this has to be run as a business. No hobby, but a full Fletch business. Records have to be kept straight, new Clients have to be found and I have to hone my Craft, both writing and art, on a daily basis.

The most difficult part that I have so far is the temptation to just give up when nothing you do seems to want to work.

For example, this really threw me for a loop.

I had finally landed a pretty good contract or so I thought. I was hired on as a Freelance Writer at my quoted price without any problems. We negotiated payment and a trial period. Of course, I knew I would have to prove my writing abilities to the individual.

The subject matter was a fairly new one to me and I knew that I had to interview some that were more familiar and do some online research. Afterall that is expected in our Field. I was looking forward to the challenge and had my first piece ready for the "Editors" inspection.

I got the call the following day and all seemed to be in order. The piece is published on the website with no byline, but no problem I understand that. I was suppose to receive my next assignment and after waiting for several days (the assignment was suppose to be send to me within 24 hours) I was given one excuse after the other. Finally, I gave up and asked the guy straight up what the deal was. My writing was ok otherwise he would not have published it. After 3 Weeks of one reason (hospital, webmaster, etc) I told him nevermind. I asked him to be good enough to just pay me what he owed me and we would part in piece. Now it is another 3 Weeks later and I am still waiting for my payment, with him first claiming he had already paid me and once I asked him for the transaction #, date and other information and told him I would have PayPal investigate the issue changing his mind that he had forgotten. I am pretty sure that I will never see the income, but it is a hard knock to take.

Starting out is never easy, being ripped off is even harder. You can not give up and with very little capital to start out and you depend on every penny. Today was one of those days when the Business of writing seemed to be a dream that will never come to fruitation. With tears of frustration, I wanted to throw down my pen, but I won't. If one thing holds true for all starting Business Ventures, it is this. You can never give up. You must learn to endure and take the bad with the good. It may be harder then you think you can handel but the rewards of success will be all the sweeter.

My Goal in the long run is that in 10 Years from now, the Name Regina Sunderland will stand for something good and worth while in the Writing and Publishing World. I hope that I will be spoken off with respect and expect to be hated by others.

Teaching, preaching, writing and drawing is my Business.... It is the one thing I am pretty good at.

Tag you are it, what is your Goal or Dream when it comes to business and achievement?

Keep pursuing your writing goals and try to check out people and companies before you write for them. Over the internet it is hard to do. I am hearing about several instances of writers never being paid for thier work, even when it is published. Don't let that stop you from writing, though. Keep posting to Hub Pages.
