Illegal? Arrested? No problem, your "rights" were probably violated.

By thinking out loud

Another stupid judicial decision

So, you're here illegally, you apply for an ID card in hartford conn. Not long afterwards, Immigration comes to your apartment and arrests you and three other illegals living there. You're scheduled for deportation, what do you do? Well first, you get a group of Yale law students to represent you, then you go to court. Lucky for you, you you get a crazy judge who decides your constitutional "rights" were violated and the deportation orders are put away. What, you ask? Then you, like me thought only legal citizens had rights. Well, apparently you and I are wrong. Out of 32 people arrested as a result of the raids, only 1 was actually deported. though all were found to be here illegally, this judges decision led to the rest being let go, using the courts to crerate new law. the Judge michael Straus needs to have his head examined, as well as a refresher course on the constitutional rights issues. these sweeps and arrests in 2007, are a classic example of what law enforcement can do to rid us of the illegal issue, it is also a classic example of how a wrong headed judge can make the law as he sees fit. You can bet the law school and their students are proud and crowing about their accomplishments, but I wonder if they can think past their own self interest and think of what this does to the rule of law? That is what a law school is supposed to be teaching, isn't it?
