I'm Glad I learned Coin Magic Tricks

My son and I were watching "Mind Freak" on TV and Chris Angel was doing some coin magic tricks as well as all the other sick tricks he does. My son Chase is almost 4 years old. He must have thought that just because I am an adult that I can do magic too because he ran down the hall and into his bedroom. A minute later he came out with his piggy bank and said, "Daddy, make my monies disappear!" He really looks up to me as a hero, so the only thing I could think of was the cheesy magic trick my grandpa taught me when I was about Chase's age. Basically you take a coin, preferably a dime because it is so small and hard to see, put it on the corner of your palm between your thumb and index finger. Hold both hands out with palms up and flip them over really fast. While you do this, make the dime fly from the one hand to the other and ball you fists up like you do when you say "which hand?". Of course this is when you say, "which hand?". Chase chose the hand it started in and then I showed him the other hand. The excitement you see in a 4 year old's face the first time you do this dumb trick is priceless! He was so thrilled he said "Do it again daddy!". Loving the look on his face, I did it again. This time the coin flew past my other hand and landed on the floor about 3 feet away! Chase laughed and laughed! Then he said "I can make the coin disappear too!". So he grabbed the coin, put it in his hand and threw it across the room! That was PRICELESS! We both just look at each other and burst into fits of laughter for what seemed like 5 minutes! He is the cutest kid in the world!

Coin Magic Trick Attempt #2

Feeling like not much of a hero the next day, I jumped online and looked up magic tricks. I came across some free coin magic tricks that were very easy to do. I didn't get to have much practice because when I came home Chase wanted to see more magic tricks. He is fascinated by magic as most kids are. You know, I've found that most adults are too. I have always loved magic myself. I could watch it for hours at a time. In fact, my DVR is set to record mind freak every week. Chris Angel is just too cool not to watch! So anyway, the trick I learned was this. I sat down at the table, took out a quarter, placed it on the table. You then put the tips of your fingers on top of the quarter and drag it to the edge of the table as if you were going to pick it up. When it get to the edge of the table pretend to pick it up by putting your thumb to the bottom of the tips of your fingers while the quarter falls into your lap. Rub your thumb and fingers together and then turn your hand over and open it. PRESTO! The quarter is gone. And of course, Chase was so exited by this trick that he wanted to see it again. "Do it again daddy!" he said. So I proceeded to do it again. This time when the coin dropped into my lap, it fell through my lap and rattled the bottom of the chair. Again, Chase laughed and said "I want to do it too!". So I put the quarter on the table to see what he was going to do with it. It was so funny! He slid the quarter like a bullet across the table launching it 5 feet across the dining room as he lifted his hands in the air and saying "IT DISAPPEARED SEE!" OK, not so good magic trick.

Desperate for Great Magic

So after failure number 2, my search continued. The free coin magic tricks were just to cheesy to try another bout of failure and leaving my son with just a good laugh. I happened on this really amazing coin trick. It only cost me $6.95 but it also included a book of 116 coin sleights and 236 coin tricks. And I'll tell you it was worth every penny or "quarter" of it! This one trick has my 4 year old still wondering how I did it! Now every week, I pick two tricks out of the book and after we watch "Mind Freak" I do perform for my son. He loves it!

Oh! Not only that, but when is little buddies come over he has me do coin magic tricks for them. August 23rd was his birthday and we decided to throw him his first birthday party. He had 5 friends and their parents over. Grandma and grandpa too. It was a beautiful day for grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. The kids only wanted cake and ice cream, go figure. Just before we had him unwrap his presents, Chase comes up to me and said, "Daddy do some magic tricks!" You just can't say no to a cake smeared 4 year old boy on his birthday. It makes me feel so good inside to see my son, his friends and 12 adults gleaming over these tricks that were so easy to learn! For now, I'm forever his hero again.

If your interested in this this book it is called Modern Coin Magic. The coin magic tricks you learn in this book will impress everyone, young or old. It impressed my son and that what matters to me!
