One of the biggest challenges people face in daily life is driving themselves out of the bed. This holds actually nothing special, like interpreting sleep fases or anything, but It sure has everything to do with your will power, and a bit of strategy.
You have certainly had several times in your life where you just couldn't force yourself to get out of bed. The greatest cause why we tend to remain in bed is because we justify the reasons behind it.
Do you recognise any of these?: 'I will only nap for ten more minutes...' or 'It is fine,... The alarm clock is ahead of time by two minutes anyway...' or 'I will dress up once the room is a bit warmer...'
Well, whatever your excuse is for not getting out of your bed, I am most certain it was a really creative excuse as well. Sometimes it's perfectly human to be not that bad at scraping up rationalities for not acting on things.
The reason why justifying makes us stay in bed, or keeps us from accomplishing a lot of other goals in our life for that matter, is because it produces negative momentum. The law of momentum says: when something comes in motion, it is given to stay in motion. The contrary is, likewise, true: when something stops, it is given to stay at that place as well.
When you take a decision to keep your butt on that bed for 'just a couple of more minutes' it tends to remain on that point, and it generally remains there for much longer than a couple of mins, doesn't it? That's wherefore you have to create a momentum strategy to get up as soon as possible after waking up, and to begin moving around.
Start moving, take a walk, play with your pet, whatever it is, you have to get up and start moving so you can stop sleeping as soon as possible right after waking up. Once you create positive momentum it will be impossible to justify reasons or to make excuses to sleep longer as you will already be out of your bed. So here are two simple techniques you can apply to jump out of bed quick each morning and to get out more of your day :
1) The "remote alarm" technique Just about everyone puts their alarm clock right next to their bed within grasp. This is a bad thing if you would like to avoid staying in bed. Why? Since you hardly have to make the effort to turn over to hit the alarm clock, it withholds any more movement and that will not stop you from sleeping longer.
Rather than positioning your alarm right next to your bed, put it far-off, like at the other end of your bedroom. This will force you to stand up to turn it off. Once you are out of the hay it is too late to come up with excuses to remain in bed longer, since you are out already.
Even if you have to tape your clock to the ceiling, this technique will be the best thing ever to start improving your sleep habits and to gain more energy at day.
2) Trick your brain The cause for justifying our habits each morning is conditioning. We have done it for so long, that we now do it without even thinking of it. Excusing and justifying are conditioned and practiced habits. But there's a way out of this. Try the following technique and do it regulary.
Jump out of bed beforehand. This may look like a silly thing to do, but believe me it works like wonder! Just before you go to bed to sleep, lie down and pretend that you're sleeping. Close your eyes and then imagine that you're waking up in the morning. Jump out of your bed with full excitement.
Do this exercise 5 to 10 times or just as much as you feel like it. Your brain is not in charge, you are. You tell it what to do in any given situation. An exercise like this will teach you brain a new habit. You can improve your sleephabits by replacing old habits with new ones.
Funny isn't it. We learned how to take good care of our body and some of us know everything about good nutrition, but hardly anyone has ever learned how to take care of our internal sleep system. When you know that our inner sleep systeem is responsible for the greater part of your health, you should consider that each one of your excuses to stay in bed longer is doing you more harm than good. Take some action today and improve your sleep habits.

Why counting sheep won't solve sleep problems
Just think about it. A horde of hyper active sheep sporadically jumping over a fence isn't very calming to the mind is it? The whole concept is also ridiculous. When was the last time you saw sheep jumping high over a fence?
You need alternative relaxation methods to calm you mind before you tak e of to bed. Meditation, soothing music, a relaxing bath with essences, herbal tea or other natural sleeping aids should always be preferred above sleeping pills.
If you can't fall asleep and you lie awake in bed for longer than 30 minutes, get out. No matter what time it is, stay out of bed until you feel tired and then go back.
This simple technique works because it interrupts your thinking pattern. If you lie awake in bed for 30 minutes or longer, your mind is racing and hyper active like the sheeps jumping over the fence. Chances are you're not gonna get hit on the head suddenly and relax instantly. There's simply too much negative momentum and that's keeping you awake.
This is why getting up and out of bed is the best way to interrupt this. Clear your mind and get the feeling of drowsiness back.
Toss and turn but do it slow
We've all experienced those nighttimes that we simply could not find the comfy part of the bed and went on for hours flipping and bending until the break of sunrise. Why does this happen?
Well, your flipping and bending, really is not the result of you not being comfy, it is the effect of you not feeling at ease. On a deeper feeling our mind would like to relax, but generally we interpret the message as 'come up with a comfy place on the bed.' Real relaxation comes from inside, and has to be activated by your mental process. For instance:
You could be in a hammock on a warm summer day in Hawaii, but if you are thinking of whether the stock exchange will rise or fall, and you've got a hundred million bucks on the line and it is truly troubling you, it will not matter what attitude you are in that hammock, you will not relax! If you are lying down in bed and you get the urge to toss or turn, wait it out, you will be surprised how fast it passes off.
Once you get the urge to toss and turn, ask yourself 'How can I concentrate on something else right now to feel more at ease?' As you lie down there for more or less fifteen seconds, you will be surprised at how the impulse to toss and turn simply blows over, and you realize that all you actually wish to do is relax.
Realize that if you do begin tossing and turning, it won't stop with just one and only toss or turn, because of the impulse effect, you will just continue tossing and turning until daybreak. Some of the times the urge to move is very intense, or perhaps you actually are in a very painful position on your bed. If you absolutely must move, do it very slowly.
Think of what it feels like when you come alive in the morning and you're very sleepy, do you move very rapidly then? As you move very easy, put a great shiny grin on your face, and take a deep breath.
A different reason why tossing and turning prevents us from sleeping is because we do it very fast, and the more we do it, the more it charges us! So do it very slowly, and be sure to grin and breath deep, you will experience the difference almost suddenly.
