In a relationship, What do you consider to be an acceptable age difference?
59The Ages of Dating
Dating can mean very different things based upon your age. When your in your early twenties it can mean I am looking for a significant other, or " I want to PARTY!!!" At the same time when your a teenager it can mean many things.
When being a teenager, it can tend to mean that you want to have fun, party, fall in love, feel special due to in-populairity, or even just get some attention from a cute boy or girl and may not even know or want to like the person in the first place. It can be very dangerous dating in highschool because there are so many different reasons for dating and teenagers don't feel comfortable about sharing our feelings with others quite yet so it can cause lots of drama.
On the otherhand I don't see a specific age range for dating in highschool as long as both of the two are in highschoo at the same time. So it kind of puts it there. If you are a senior dating a freshman it's probably because you want to have fun, not because you want to tell all your college friends that your dating a 15 year old. It just doesn't work past highschool. So I suggest that you know why the other person is dating and know why your dating as well and make sure they match up so that there is no problems later in the relationship. Trust me I know from experience. If you don't it can possibly ruin your current friendships and girls always hold grudges too. So it doesn't help this early in the ball game for us guys.

Dating someone is hardly the same as being in a relationshiop. So your title kind of misled me. Relationship is way too serious compared to dating - you can be dating and just be friends, right?
But anyhow, one should look beyond the age of the person s/he is dating or having a relationship with. What matters more is that you enjoy each other's company and copliment each other in many ways other than being of the same age :D
the states do not decide when a child can start dating, the parent does, unless you mean something more then dating, i think 16 for dating
Thanks Espionscrolls for posting this page for my Request..
My goodness when I was teenager many moons ago, you had nailed it right on the head and I dated a guy who was quite and shy and wasn't very popular needless to say he ended up getting more dates then he could imagine after he dated me. When I went to College I never thought about dating anyonein H.S. as they alll of a sudden were to young. I enjoyed the article :)
I have to add to my hub>>>
I am realizing more and more that I need to be dating someone my own age. It is getting too complicated dating people too young. I have been known for dating girls three years yonger than me and now that I'm turning 18 soon I better watch out for they could be jail bait if you know what I mean. Although that law does only apply to having sex but on the other hand I should watch out for my own good.

When I was in high school age 16 I dated a boy 21 who was a soldier at the time stationed on the same military base I was living on. In those days no one seem to think anything about the difference in age. Things have sure changed.
Enjoyed your hub.
