Heart Iconography

I think we take hearts for granted since our culture is so permeated with them. I like to photograph accidental hearts. I mean the ones occurring in nature like in clouds and wood-grain on doors and paneling, but also the hearts that appear in unexpected places, like in a garden or on a sign.

Metaphysically speaking the heart chakra is green, not pink. So if you are doing healing art, try adding green hearts. Pink is good for family happiness and femininity and red is good for passion and love.

Since hearts are basically symmetrical, it makes a good symbol of two halves becoming one whole.

Some of the stones affiliated with the heart chakra are rose quartz to mend a broken heart or family disagreements, bloodstone, which is a green stone with red streaks said to symbolize the blood of Christ, adventurine, a quartz stone that is also green that is good for balancing your emotions, rhodochrosite, another pink stone with beautiful lace patterns, and rhodonite, a bubble gum pink stone.
