Review of the Inada Sogno Dream Wave PLUS Massage Chair
77The Beauty and Brains of the Inada Sogno Massage Chair
This new massage chair by Inada has been one of the most anticipated new product launches in the massage chair industry in years. The new Sogno and Sogno Dream Wave PLUS massage chairs are really very innovative and revolutionary.
The Inada Sogno massage chair was just introduced into the US this year and made a big splash at the Las Vegas Furniture Market. It finally hit the market over the last month, the PLUS model just getting out to retailers in mid-July. This chair combines comfort and quality with the most advanced technology in the world. With rich synthetic leather graces the surface of the Sogno which resembles a piece of art.
Toshiyuki Kita is the master mind behind the Sogno design and has created a number of designs in furniture as well as consumer products. Kita is known for decorating and designing modern works. He is best known for his iconic Wink chair in which he designed under a well known furniture maker of Cassina of Italy.
This chair is not only beauty, it has technique as well. The three dimensional mechanism from INADA is the only massage mechanism in the world that has the ability to push the rollers out for a more deep massage or remove the rollers for a more gentle massage. The rollers ensure the correct amount of blood flow to each of your joints. The rollers imitate the precise movements of real human wrists. After a minute in this chair you will forget that it’s not a human, it’s a chair.
When it comes to the Sogno massage chair it not only works on areas needing massage therapy, but also on the other areas that are directly connected to the target sits. These professional techniques are incorporate into the INADA healthcare program. This massage chair offers eight pre-programmed massage programs.
It also has a very unique neck massage/traction combination that allows for a more “spinal-friendly” neck massage. You see, it compresses down on your shoulders while the massage mechanism works your neck over. It is also something I have not seen before. The arms, forearms, wrists, and fingers are also massaged in it’s unique in-line arm massage airbag system. It is quite amazing, really.
I also love how the chair can fit virtually any body height with it’s extending ottoman. Now, other massage chairs have an extending ottoman, but this chair does it so effortlessly and easily for the user that you never even think that you have to adjust anything to fit. It just happens automatically. The Sogno massage chair also features a youth program, which I have not seen in other massage chairs.
The remote is simple looking and simple to use. You will no problem navigating around the functions and features of the chair with this remote.
I mentioned 2 different models at the beginning of this article, the Sogno Standard and the Sogno Dream Wave PLUS. Here are the differences that you need to know about:
1. the Sogno PLUS has a heated seat
2. the Sogno PLUS has true 3-D massage rollers
3. the Sogno PLUS has the Dream Wave seat massage technology
4. the Sogno PLUS comes in an additional cream color, as well as the chocolate and slade that the Standard model comes in.
5. this is very important…the Sogno Dream Wave PLUS is sold only through speciatly retail stores. It can also only be sold offline and cannot be advertised onnline. Check out Dr. Weidner’s www.massage-chair-relief.com/inada.html to see it and read more about both models.
6. the Sogno PLUS sells for $6499 and the Standard sells for $5999.
Maybe a little explanation of the Dream Wave technology would be in order. What you will experience is very unique to a massage chair. The seat on the Inada Sogno actually slides from front to back and side to side, while, at the same time, your hips and thighs are being massaged by the airbags on either side of your thighs. Also, while this is going on, the rollers are pushing one side of your low back forward and then the other side of the low back so that you are getting a 3-dimensional massage…the back rollers pushing you forward and massaging your back, your seat moving in a side-to-side and front-to-back motion and the hips being massaged laterally. I’ve never seen anything like it…and I think it is about time more attention in a massage chair is paid to the hips, buttocks, and thighs. The Sogno does it.
Inada has a policy that stipulates that their chairs cannot be purchased online, though they can be advertised online. Only the Sogno Dream Wave PLUS cannot be advertised online. If a shopper is interested in a Sogno massage chair, they must call the retailer and order over the phone or go into the retailer and order in person.
Drawbacks on this chair are few and far-between. The most obvious, if it is in fact a drawback, would be the look of the chair. For some, it is not a recliner-looking chair that is necessarily home-décor friendly. It is the ultimate therapeutic machine, and it kinda looks like it, too. The colors are lovely and the design is very contemporary, but an HT-1650 it is not in the appearance department. It still looks very sleek and sophisticated, but with the arm airbags visible, along with the Dream Wave hip massagers, it looks like a sleek and sophisticated therapeutic device.
When it comes to the Sogno, it offers beauty and brains that will definitely be more than an accent to your living space, but a “therapeutic” work of art. By dedicating at least fifteen minutes a day to the Sogno you are promised to feel refreshed and ready for your busiest day or long night. I fell asleep in the chair 5 minutes into my massage. I think it is a fantastic chair, even for the higher price that you’ll pay for it. You’ll love it.

I tried out the Inada Sogno at an exhibition. One of the obvious lack of feature is that the you cannot save settings for a user. You would think it would so simple to save setting for multiple users so that the adjustments do not have to be done every time.
I have to agree with Nash, it's not a difficult thing to do. But it was great. I'll wait for the update :-)
Thanks for the comments. I must say that the memorizing of programs per person sounds good on the surface, but in actuality it is a bit counter-intuitive when you consider that every time you sit on a massage chair throughout the day your body morphology is different. For example, in the morning your musculature and even your height is different than the evening. After and before strenuous activity can merit completely different settings. I think, through my experience, that memorizing massage chair settings is a tad over-rated.
