Increase Your Vertical Leap by Learning What Not to Do!

Overweight -There's no such thing as "Air Whale" if you want to jump higher you can't hold on to those extra pounds. You don't have to be too skinny but, you do have to be in good condition for you to get the full effect of explosive workouts. That extra weight is just one of the things that's holding you down.

Mindset - Some People don't have the mindset. You may have the time to workout. You may even have the weights. But if you don't have the discipline to stick to a simple workout routine you can kiss your hops goodbye.

Not Strong Enough - You may be training with weights but have not got any stronger. This could be for two reasons. You haven't increased the weight that your lifting or you are not maxing out.

Wrong Training - You may have been training like mad, jumping around the gym like a kangaroo, but unless your training for power and the explosive movements it takes to thrust your body into the air your only training to jump at the same level more often.

Not Enough Training - Some people only train enough just to warm up. They may do a few calve raises, maybe a few squats. And that's it. Jump training the right way requires pushing your self to the limit each and every time you workout.

Working Out Too Heavy - Heavy lifting is OK depending on how many reps your doing. However to heavy and you will only be gaining pure strength. You want to be able to lift a lot but, what's more important is how fast you move the weight you lift

Working Out Too Light - Light workouts can help a little, however you are mostly only training for endurance when you workout too light. You can't get first step quickness if you can't even lift your own weight. You won't get the strength you need when you start to do beginners plyos.

Only Doing Weights - You can only jump so high if you're only doing weights. In order to get power you have to do plyos as well.

Only Doing Plyos - So many people start out trying to do only plyos' have no idea what there doing. If you start out doing plyo's (especially advanced plyo's like dept jumps) you are not going to see the results you desire - if any at all. You have to have an OK strength base when starting beginners plyos and an even better strength base when doing advanced. Further more trying do only do plyo's as a beginner especially without weight training can also result in injury.

Not Getting Enough Rest - Many try to do too much, too fast. If you do not rest properly between exercises and setsĀ (at least 2 minutes between sets), lower body workouts (2days apart would probably be Ideal) and enough Sleep at night (6 - 8 hours - although I've seen results with less) then you're practically taking two steps backwards.
