53Increase My Conversion Rate! ...Relevance is Key!
Ok, so your asking yourself "how can I increase my conversion rate?". And let's face it, it ain't easy. But, there are strategies that work and are often overlooked.
By now, I'm sure you've researched a few ways to do it. And maybe you've even implemented a few strategies that may, or may not have worked. Well, was also in this boat at one time. I wanted to increase my conversion rate, and didn't know what worked, and what didn't.
Here's the #1 thing that I changed about my campaigns that helped get me more sales from higher conversions. I got RELEVANT!!!
Ok...you may know what I'm talking about, but many people don't truely understand relevance and how it pertains to Google, conversions and getting more sales.
First of all, your content needs to be relevant to what you're trying to sell. I know that sounds like a "no-brainer", but let me explain this in greater detail! Let's say your running a Google Adwords campain for "Product X". When you write your ad copy (what shows up in the Google Ad spot), are you pointing your potential customer to a relevant website to what "Product X" is?
For instance, let's say your promoting a dog training video and you have an ad up on Google for it. You own a review-style website for anything related to dogs, dog training or household pets in general. This is a relevant ad! Google likes to see ads and content that pertain to each other. And, as a reward, they'll lower your price-per-click.
The other, less obvious advantage is that you will now drive higher quality traffic to your site, thus selling more! Think about it!....if you're selling a dog training video and you end up driving customers to your site that are looking for dog toys, you're missing the boat!...and you're getting charged clicks from customers that don't want your product.
Get more relevant, and get more sales. It's as simple as that! When I re-looked at my articles and ads, I was able to tweek them a little bit, adjust my target keywords, and increase my conversion rate. I did this all by simply catering to the audience that I was after.
Now, don't think that your conversion rate is going to skyrocket because you made a few adjustments or tried a new technique. It takes time to see the results....and they won't be drastic. Remember, when I was finally able to increase my conversion rate, it was only by a percentage point or (if I was lucky) two! Conversion rates are usually in the low single digits...like between 1% and 5%. If you're getting 5% or better, you're doing extremely well!
Paying attention to relevance is very important....not only to save you money in clicks, but to target quality, hungry buyers. Hopefully, this helped answer the question "how do I increse my conversion rate?".
