Increasing Creativity for Innovation
59The State of Creativity
In as much as the world is evolving, and teeming with new discoveries every second around the world; in as much as change is already a relatively usual occurrence; most of the time, the people who dare to dream, to be creative, the people who could potentially drive innovation, are shunned. Our modern society (or at least some sectors of it), very much acclimated to the normality of development, brands them as young upstarts (failing to see that people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, were in a sense "young upstarts" when they founded Microsoft and Apple, respectively), and judges them for the effort. In this restrictive environment it is easy for most people to lose hope, and to lose the zest for creative endeavors.
If you find or have found yourself in this situation, then I believe you know the feeling of your inner voice being muted; that intense internal energy seeking expression, nipped right at the bud. You are not in isolation on this. So many people out there have creative minds, perhaps even more creative than those hotheads with enough gall to reject new ideas aka. ideas which are not valid because (a) it doesn't come from them, (b) it doesn't come from someone they know, or (c) they just don't like you. I mean, the fact that they shun fresh innovations and development in an increasingly evolving society, is appalling enough. You get what I mean?

Innovate
Despite this situation however, I still strongly urge everyone to continue finding ways to increase your creativity. Keep on searching for those cool new innovative solutions. Discover newer and newer things and never allow yourself to be discouraged by the obviously ignorant. In line with the thrust for creativity, I offer three pieces of advice for you: (1) Immerse yourself in experience, allow yourself to try out as many things as you can because this will open your mind to different horizons, (2) Push your limits to the extreme, constantly test your boundaries to see what you're capable of, and break them, and (3) Flash a proverbial silent finger at all those haters, someday they'll understand.
Take root. Find and nourish your creativity, because as one movie put beautifully, "the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are of finding it." Don't let the hullaballoos of the different industries drown out your own inner voice. Develop it. Apart from my three tips, there are at least a million other sources online and a couple hundred in bookstores which you could look at. Use these creative skills to drive innovation.
C'mon, do you think that if Steve Jobs had listened to all those people who thought the apple would fail, if he had listened to all those people who said that quitting college was a total mistake, do you think apple would be the way it is today? Do you think apple would have even existed? If Mark Zuckerburg never sought to dive headfirst into his pet project, do you think Facebook would be the way it is today? Seriously, don't lose hope. As I said, go and check out more resources if you want to learn of more ways to increase creativity. Some of them are indeed just a click away.
